Still one of if not the best practice facility in the DC area. Tons of mats that are in great shape, two levels, and grass to hit off of. They replaced a bunch of mats earlier this year. Hitting off grass, chipping, and putting all cost extra but each plot is in good shape. The practice green is huge and rolls nicely. I still wish a few people wouldn't use the putting green to hit their flop shots... The chipping/bunker green is smallish but there is a lot of space in two directions to hit from. It's nice having multiple angles especially if there are multiple people there. Fairway for that green runs out at around 75 yards. Lots of space to practice your short game. The pro shop is constantly being updated and every now and then they'll have a good set of used clubs for sale. Their deals--especially if you're on their e-mail list--are fantastic. I hear people complaining that stock is low online, but support local businesses! Olney is very well stocked for the most part. I like that several people working have stayed for many years. They're all friendly and knowledgeable. The crop of teaching professionals here is awesome. Lots of different personalities to suit different people. I don't know everyone well, but here are the two I know best: Keith Robertson is someone I've known for a long time. He's great with junior golfers (and golfers of every level) and is always in a good mood. He has a whole set up of the MEGSA machines too. For the last couple of years I have worked with Brendan Horton. I really like his approach. He is really nice, is more analytical in his thought, and is always willing to help, even if it's for two minutes. We communicate well and I am definitely playing my best golf because of him. My wife just started lessons with him. She has improved dramatically and is starting to enjoy playing golf too! This place is a hike from DC but it's still worth the trip for me several times a week. read more

I really enjoy coming to this place to hit some golf balls - their prices are reasonable, the location is super easy to get to, and the areas are pretty tidy. I do wish they opened earlier during the day, right now they open at 9:00 am and for someone who likes to get some practice in, it would be great to start a little earlier before the sun is super hot! I had a terrible experience at Olney Golf Park. Usually the staff are kind but the one female staffer, with glasses was the rudest and most inconsiderate employee I have ever experienced. I came to practice at the short game area with my younger brother who came to just watch and not play and when I let the employee know that only I will be playing, she smirked and threateningly said the following. "I better not see him holding a club then or else we're going to have a problem." My younger brother who only came to watch was in tears because of her threatening and condescending remarks. I had to keep all my emotions in check to not respond to this employee who is clearly not competent and knows how to treat guests/customers. She was not rude to people before us in line, but we would like to know why she treated us so differently. Was it because we were Asian? We had all kinds of thought going through our head and we don't ever want to experience that kind of treatment again. read more

It's a great place! They have a covered and non covered section of the driving range which is nice. Also the covered section is heated which is the best part. The staff is fine, never super friendly but never rude. Prices are okay too but I won't go here too often bc it adds up after a while. All in all it's a great spot that I keep coming back to. Went during mid September, and this place was busy at 3pm on a Sunday when the redskins game was on. Overall, it's a smaller Tee off. Only one complex of shaded Ts and there was a second level above in the sun. They have a small putting range for $10/hour. The ball dispenser worked and the balls were clean. We did have to find our own Ts and put them in our turf. One bathroom. Golf shop was well stocked, the staff were nice. Spent $16 on a jumbo bucket which was 150 balls. It's a good place to come to hit a few balls, nothing superb to rave about. I look forward to going back in the winter. They have lane heaters. read more

First, I'm a huge fan of Olney Golf Park. If you're coming to hit a bucket, you're at the right place. Awesome facility, friendly front desk staff, and great hours/prices. However, my first and only experience buying from the pro shop turned into a NIGHTMARE. I found some irons for sale there and upon asking how much, I was given a card for the club fitter/instructor named BH (I'm only giving initials). I emailed him and fairly quickly we came to an agreement on a price. The clubs were still uncut, so he told me he could cut them to +1" over length and 2* upright, per my request. Long story short: his emails were so unprofessional I felt as though I was talking to a private dealer that wasn't trying to represent a company whatsoever, the clubs were cut too short, the 7 iron was about an inch and a half longer than its relative partners which actually just turned out to be poor workmanship because the grip was not even pushed the whole way down, a club was COMPLETELY MISSING from the set, and the grips were mismatched colors and in a nonsensical order... Why would you do that??? After emailing BH upon picking up the bogus set of clubs, he attributed the numerous short comings to being rushed during the busiest part of the year even though he pushed back the date of completion 3 separate times until I finally got them a full week after the due date, not to mention I never once "rushed" him... Foolishness. I'm a young professional who has worked in sales a long time... I would never dream of ever giving such a terrible product to a consumer. Shame on you. He spitefully told me that I could just return the clubs or he would fix them if I brought them back on that day. Why? So I can wait longer for a product that I can't trust and spend more time and money coming back and forth to fix your mistakes? Thanks for making it easy for me, I gladly returned them. Cherry on top- I was asked to return the clubs at 9:45pm that day, but they closed and locked up at 9pm that night... Seriously?? What an extreme asshole. I wish he was there when I got there at 8:45 so I could have cursed him out. I like this business a lot and the owner is a good guy. I just hope in the future nobody else makes the same mistake I did. Get your clubs fitted and adjusted elsewhere. Trust me. read more

It's 2 levels of mats (second floor has no roof over your head) and 2 sides of grass to swing off of. Value-wise, this is still the best range in the area. With Yelp check-in, a large bucket is only $7. They have covered range stalls and multiple target greens including an island green about 150 yds out. Seems like they also have a shop cat, who is very friendly. The reason I took a star away is that I've not been thrilled with the customer service lately. A couple of the employees seem to always have an apathetic, almost condescending attitude when I come in to pay for balls. One of the employees barely acknowledges you and sort of just sits there while you say hello to a blank face and receive no type of response after saying thank you to her. It's not bad enough that I'd stop coming here for good, but management needs to do a better job pushing customer service. The last few times I've taken my change and receipt, I had a very sour taste in my mouth. read more

Great driving range and practice facility. There are several practice greens to target including their signature island green surrounded by water. The driving range is well maintained and has heated bays for colder days. You can hit off grass if you pay more. The real gem of the place is the short game practice area (additional fee). Huge putting green as well as another practice green to pitch and chip to. Sand areas as well. This is a top notice facility with great staff. read more

If I HAD to hit from mats, this is as good a place as any. I've gotten used to paying $12 to hit unlimited balls on grass at Worthington Manor in Urbana, but it's tough to get up there in rush hour on the weekdays, hence the need for a practice facility closer to home. OGP has a good range of target distances. The covered bays are a bonus in the blazing heat, but during the cold months, I haven't found the heat to be sufficient enough to be comfortable. I took group lessons from Liza A. in the Golf School for Women a few years ago, when I first started. As a total beginner back then, I must say I didn't get a whole lot out of the group lessons. There's just too much going on and too much competition for the instructor's attention. I since learned that if you want to learn how to play this game well, private, one-to-one instruction is the best way to go at the start. And then go out and practice, practice, practice in places like this. And then go back for group tune up lessons each season because unless you play in the winter, each spring is like starting over. Went back this year for a lesson with Liza to fix a couple of things and got good results so far. If you've caught the bug, this is a good place to hang out. read more

First to review!! I love this range because of the island they have right smack in the middle of the range. It's no Sawgrass #17, but a good solid 9 iron will get you there. What's even better is that it's less than 5 minutes from my house. The mats are very high quality and the balls are pretty good quality as well. Jumbo ($16) is good enough for two people. They also have a chipping green for $10 if you need serious work on your short game (like me). Check it out. read more

Just recently tried out Olney Golf Park as I've been working on my game this winter, and have really enjoyed my experience. They are a smidge more expensive than nearby driving ranges like Northwest ($7, $11, $16 as opposed to $5, $10, $15 for roughly the same # of balls), but you definitely get your money's worth for a few reasons. (Comparing to Northwest) 1) Balls are newer and feel softer off the face. 2) Heaters actually work, important in the winter. 3) Mats are newer, and a few stalls have "real feel" hitting strips that are softer and eliminate the "bounce" effect you get from hard mats when you hit it fat. 4) And probably the most important reason, target practice at Olney is better. There's an "island" green in the middle surrounded by water which is fun to hit, way more flags, little nets you can try to hit to, and all the flags on the yardage sheet are properly marked (anyone whose been to Northwest knows that the sheets there make no sense... "wait, what blue flag?") All in all, a nice place to hit some balls and work on your game. With all this said, I still go to Northwest often as its 5 mins from my house and has a full golf course. But I wouldn't hesitate to give Olney Golf Park my business if i found myself there again one day. read more

Olney Park Golf is a pretty good joint for practice sessions. They know that they are the only half decent range within 10 miles of the Beltway in Montgomery County, and they charge accordingly. The facilities consist of a double deck area with mats and a grass range (that nobody uses) off to the left as you enter, and a chipping and putting area off to the right. The grass range fees are exorbitant, but the mats are fine. Heat is basically not available, there are a few heaters spaced on the lower level of the main hitting area, but they are ineffective. When the place is crowded, it can be difficult to find plastic tees for the mats - they don't seem to have enough. I have never had problems with the ball machines, as some others have mentioned. The range itself is very good. Accurate markers for ranging in irons and wedges (they have a distance sheet at each tee). There are nets close in to hit your wedges into and a cool island green that is good target practice. Overall, good place if you keep it simple. read more

I went to Olney Golf Park today and it is a great range in every way except one: "limited flight" range balls (25% to 35% distance loss, particularly with woods). I don't know exactly why an enormous range like this would use limited flight balls, but I can only assume that there was a lawsuit involved. It's a shame, and to be honest this is a big problem for me and I won't be back. In my opinion the only golfers that don't care about distance (improving it or at least maintaining it through practice and training) are the beginning golfers and the experts who are already confident that they can hit fairways with 250+ yard drives. If you are an improving golfer like me, you may start to feel discouraged when your "good" drives only go halfway downrange. A practice session at a different range that uses regular range balls is more satisfying and feels more productive because the ballflight is closer to the shot that you would hit on the course. read more

This place rocks!! Took my boys for the first time. They loved it. Love that they have lights and are open late. The prices are good and you get a discount for checking in on Yelp! The tee pads are nice. The place was not at all busy and there are literally like 40 tees so I wonder if it ever gets full. The pro shop looked well appointed but I didn't look at it too closely. They have a big scruffy guard cat that was sitting out back. I love businesses that keep pets. It makes the business more homey to me. Come here to hit the long ball. read more

So 8 months ago I had to post a one star review. An update on that review, however I stand by what I said and still do not recommend you get your clubs repaired here. This is why I've always supported this place. A few months after my review, I was back here hitting balls, trying to improve my game, etc. etc. I usually do not peruse the pro-shop but I found myself staring at a particular golf bag. I continued my walk about and was about to leave when one of young folks behind the register said hi and asked why I had been looking at that particular bag. I began to explain, I've been looking for this particular golf bag for a while, couldn't find it, and there it was. I just didn't want to pay full retail. I had hoped it would be discounted but the annual parking lot sale had been suspended during the pandemic. Without skipping a beat, the person behind the register said ok, what do you think is a fair price. I said I'm not looking to get something for free but a little discount would be nice. We agreed on a price and I got the bag I had been looking for for nearly two years without paying full retail. This interaction and purchase is indicative of why I love Olney Golf Park. Try walking into a big box store and pulling that off. read more

What can I say it's a driving range, but they do have another side where you pay I think 10 bucks extra. Which has a putting green and real tea boxes where you can use real tease instead of those rubber things and head off grass instead of that carpet. I've been going to this range since around the time it opened. It's a load of fun if you feel like unleashing some of your stress, and testing your drive. The ball price is a little steep, but the pro shop employees are always nice. They offer a rental club if you don't have your own set. In my opinion, this range is better than the rival down Georgia Ave. (the one with the mini golf course). read more

I have been going to Olney Golf Park for a couple of years now. I have never had a bad experience or have had to wait for a tee. The island in the middle is a great feature, as well as the nets for the short game practice. I think that their prices are reasonable, especially if you get one of their range cards which offer you a discount. The only negatives, which are very minor, are the cost of the grass tees and the lack of the plastic tees, however, I was there yesterday and noticed that they had an ample supply, even upstairs. read more
