0 Stars! Save yourself the headache, time, and money--do not use Olsen Cement. Three neighboring homeowners on our street had cement work completed by this company. Both neighbors had new driveways installed, and within just 14 months, both driveways developed significant pitting and chipping. One driveway even has a crack running across it. I had my entire walkway replaced, and it is also showing pitting and chipping after only 14 months. All three of us contacted Olsen Cement and requested inspections. The response was disappointing. Damage from salt pop off from vehicles and told that the deterioration was due to our failure to seal the concrete and that the problem was essentially a maintenance issue on our end. That explanation doesn't hold up. I have a 30-year-old driveway that has never been sealed and is still in better condition than the concrete Olsen installed just over a year ago. To make matters worse, one of my neighbors was eventually offered a one-time driveway sealing application at no cost. I called and asked if my walkway could be included when they came out since they would already be on-site. My calls were never returned. When they arrived to seal my neighbor's driveway, they didn't seal my walkway and still never followed up with me. The poor quality of the concrete is one issue. The lack of accountability, inconsistent customer service, and failure to return calls made the experience even worse. Based on our collective experience, I cannot recommend Olsen Cement. read more

It is that time of year to warn anyone looking to use this outfit to NOT. They don't fix problems that they create. They try and gas light you as to the problems you encounter. They don't prep the ground properly before pouring the concrete. I filed for arbitration pursuant to their own contract and they ignored proper process. Resulting in the consumer having to take them to civil court. Unethical and they should be investigated by the State of Michigan. My concrete heaves every winter resulting in not being able to use my back door to my house. I have have to grind down the concrete every year. In a word they suck. They are owned by a hack. $10,000 spent. So bad that checking 1 star is too much! read more

I am shocked at the Situation Olsen has created for themselves. How this company can claim the things it says on the website while performing the level of service they are is outright lies. I just bought a house with a new entire driveway done by Olsen cement I have lived in the home less than 3 months and the driveway is turning to dust with flakes even though I only have one car that never sits on this driveway for more than 30 seconds twice a day. I call about his issue and get the same woman that it seems most of these other people got and tell her about my issue, she says that the work was done last year but she cant see the month it was done in because they recently changed systems (convenient). she asks if I bought the home and I say yes and then she says "well the work was not done with you so there is no warranty". what a wild statement to say, so that means that if they like you and work with you then they will warranty it but they don't actually warranty the WORK itself. even if they did its only a one year warranty and that seems low for such work as concrete. she claims the state made them change the concrete mix (to a type that makes customers stuff fall apart I guess) and that many people are having this issue. They did the same thing as what i'm seeing to Raymon Crow, Deborah Davis, and James Conely (all reviews here on google within a year of now) in those cases they seem to have tried to talk to the home owners about this issue but here? no just welp cant help ya sorry bud, they are not even trying to help with this problem that they know is an issue with many clients. To be clear she said that even if I was the person that they sold the job to AND it was within the ONE YEAR warranty that they STILL would not warranty this because they only cover "cracks" not the crap material they use. The lady lied to me saying she cant see the date but then said that they have privacy laws so she can see it but just wont tell me about it, then she lied saying there was no warranty but there is and what she meant was there was no warranty FOR ME as a dirty peasant but there is one for the other guy that they did the work for. her claim that the warranty for Olsen's work does not transfer with ownership of the property is ridiculous and in my eyes shameful and shady. This might make sense if they had a longer warranty but its only one year, this rule seems talor made for a person to get a job done cheap and sell the house just for it to fall apart on the buyer later on. Why not take pride in what you do? Think about it, who is this company for? Not the consumer that's for sure, the homeowner? nope its for large companies or housing sellers that flip houses get work done for cheap so they can refuse to back up work while claiming to treat every job like they did it for "family". Not sure what type of family Olsen comes from but if someone did half of what i've seen here to me or anyone else like those others listed earlier they would not have a seat at my table for thanksgiving that's for damn sure. The lady says there is no manager to speak to, no recourse for this issue and seemed annoyed at me for questioning this practice. As a rule I stay respectful with customer service over the phone but I will say this lady's attitude really tests your patience almost like she is goading you to yell at her. I could not imagine what it would be like having spent thousands on a job to be greeted with this level of cooperate dismissal, but since they refuse to help me this is what we do now. they seem to respond to reviews so that is where ill go, ill post my review and story in as many places as I can and hopefully it reaches someone in Olsen that has a shred of care enough to reach out (even though there is no managers to speak to of course). They have my number and I do hope for a good solution that will allow me to edit this review one day. Olson and his crew did an amazing job at my house. I had an extensive remodel done, a foundation issue fixed and once the weather is good, I am getting my driveway and patio done. I appreciated the direct, no sales BS approach when they came to give my estimate and appreciated that his crews were here early and cleaned up every day. This company is a complete disgrace. RUN! 16 days to do a 9 x 5 front porch, show up whenever they feel like it, leave the site even faster, lie, and the best part? My video doorbell picked up and recorded 4 of their guys who finally showed up to, I guess, inspect the porch saying, and I quote: "What a pile of s*** this is." "It's those f****** Mexicans we hired. They don't know what they're doing." "The form was done completely wrong." "I can't believe they (Olson) got 4 grand for this s***." And on and on. We had extensive cement work- porch, driveway and patio in the backyard. From quote to the finished project everyone was very professional. The city of Taylor did revise the plan, but Olson was able to accomodate the changes and did a beautiful job. Would highly recommend them for cement work. read more

These guys sent a guy out for a quote who was very rude, and had no interest in discussing the project or my questions and concerns. They made me feel like I was wasting their time. Contacted them about it and they promptly sent another guy who made it right. First impression not so good, but the 2nd guy they sent out was a really nice guy and took the time to dicsuss the project with me. Because of this, I would recommend Olson Cement. This company was contracted by a neighbor to do a driveway. I have so far endured 3 days of my house rattling like they are breaking through my walls. The first day was taking out the orginal concrete. (Understandable) the second day was my driveway being blocked for 4 hours by their trucks. Then it rained! (You don't check the weather before doing a large project?!) And now day three they are breaking up what they poured yesterday!! And to top it off they started at 6:30AM!!!!!!!!!!! So i was woken up at 6:30AM by what sounds like something busting through my basement! There are noise ordince laws! Promises to come out, to finish the job fell on deaf ears. We kept asking for an updated accurate bill and we never received it. I would have given zero stars but that wasn't an option. They poured our patio and pitched it towards my house. Then refused to fix it. Never had the work inspected, so when we called for final inspection it failed. We were told never to call his office, tho my sister only called twice. Then he lied and said he had me and my mom on tape being extremely rude to his office worker. This never happen. So now my basement floods, I'm disabled so it's hard for me to clean it up. Horrible company, I had a driveway and sidewalk poured in spring of 2018 and after the following winter it was chipping and spalling from too much water in the concrete at the time of install, after months of complaining they sent out someone to seal the driveway to prevent any more damage , problem is he only felt like rolling the sealer on here and there and now not only is the driveway still falling apart but it also looks like I painted sections of it where the sealer was applied. This company has refused to fix their mistakes or even return my calls for that matter. Stay far away and run if you see these clowns coming. read more

I am so very disappointed with the lack of customer service that I received from Olson Cement. Olson poured a slab for a shed. When the shed arrived, it could not be installed because the slab had bowed and needed to be shaved by I 1/2 inches for the walls of the shed to be stable. The work was performed by Olson on June 23, 2021. On July 28th, when the shed was delivered and could not be installed, I spoke with Olson, and every week thereafter to seek resolve. I've had the worst experience with this company. A lot of sweet talk but not getting things done. Seems you have to chase after them to get things done, after they take your (deposit) money! They did not file for permit for about 3 weeks (until I called for an update). Then you have to chase after them to figure out when they'll actually come out to do the job. Had appointment with this company to meet at my property to provide quote on a foundation. They were supposed to be there at 10am. No call. I called their office and was told that they probably got held up in traffic and to give them till 10:30am. Well 10:30am came and went. No call. No show. I've found a great company to work with. My daughter bought a home in Troy. It needed different contractors to fix up. Olson cement is a one stop company that can do it all. I'm so happy with everything they have done so far. So far we have had only cement but they are waiting for supplies ordered to do more. Olson Concrete poured my driveway using materials from Messina Concrete, Inc in July 2017. Less than a year later, there were visible issues with the concrete. I have contacted Olson several times and through multiple formats (email, phone, text messaging) and still have not received a resolution to the issue. I have even gone as far as contacting the Canton Township Building Inspector, who came to my home to view the work done and his calls were also ignored by Olson. It will be two years this coming July, and I still have not received an answer and no one has taken accountability of the poorly finished product that my family is left with. I have even reached out to Messina Concrete, who supplied the material for Olson, and they were not able to give any answers. Stay far away from this company unless you want a crappy job and poor communication. I wish I would have done my research before getting involved with this unprofessional business. Going into the second year, the driveway has deteriorated even further. As a business owner in the community for 43 years the lack of response by both companies has left me no other alternative but to warn others of there poor business practices. See below for a detailed timeline to understand all the effort I have made to get this issue corrected: 7/21/2017- Driveway poured Prior to Easter 2018 - First noticed the driveway flaking and spalling Middle of April 2018- Contacted Roberto (Bobby) from Olson 4/30/18- Roberto came to home to look at the driveway and agreed that there was a problem with it. He told me that he would contact Dave Olson and Vince Messina. He told me that it would be at least 10 days before someone would contact me back. 5/4/2018- I contacted Roberto via text message. He said he would call me back. Never happened. 5/22/2018- Text messaged Roberto because his voicemail box was dull. He said he was busy and that he would call me back. He did not call back. 5/29/18- Contacted office and spoke with Charlotte. She spoke with Roberto and he told her that he had emailed Messina but had not received a response back. 6/6/18- Left message for Roberto. No response 6/7/18- Left message for Roberto. No response 6/8/18- I called and explained the issue to Vince Messina. He knew nothing about my issue which means that Roberto never contacted him. I sent him an email with pictures of the driveway which he told me that he would forward to Dave Olson. 6/9/18- Received email from Stefanie with Olson to schedule a meeting with the owner Dave on June 25th. 6/25/18- Dave did not show up for the meeting. He sent a guy named John in his place. John tells me that the issue is normal and was from salt and water in the winter where the vehicles were parked. I was not satisfied with this response. 6/27/18- I sent an email to John Dodson (Canton Township Building Inspector) explaining my problem and requesting an evaluation from him. I also sent an email to Stefanie requesting a call from Dave Olson. No response from Olson. 7/19/18- John Dodson met me at my home to inspect the driveway. He agreed with me that there was an issue with the driveway. He said he would reach out to Dave Olson. During this time, I also had two other concrete contractors look at the driveway for their opinions on the issue. All agreed that it was a problem and not normal. As of 8/2/18- Still no contact from Olson to either myself or John Dodson. 4/16/2019- Sent a text message including pictures of the driveway to Vince Messina and Roberto. Vince texted me back to ask who I was and if I was a contractor and after telling him who I was, I received no response to this date 5/7/2019. read more

I needed a sidewalk replacement, driveway replacement, and some concrete removal done on my rental house. Being that it's a corner lot, there was a lot of cement to replace. We met at the house. The sales rep John was precisely on time. He looked the job over gave me a detailed estimate with descriptions with drawings. He beat the closest competitor by over $1000. The job was done in the timely manner, and they did extensive extra work, including cutting problematic roots out. They even stayed after the job was done to make sure that the 30 kids watching them wouldn't mess it up like kids do. I could not be more satisfied with the quality and professionalism. read more

They did a great job on out stamped concrete patio. We called them for an estimate and they came out the next day. Their estimate was lower then other companies we looked into and their customer service was way better. Within 2 weeks of the estimate, they began their work (other companies we called couldn't start the job for at least 2 months). Once they started the work we did have a few rain delays. We were told they would have the job done in a few days and it ended up taking 2 weeks. We were often left unsure of what was happening next or when they would cone back to complete the next step. We had to call the office multiple times to ask when they were coming back. We were over all very satisfied with the job. read more

In 2015 , Olson did parts on my driveway ( several plates in a row, not the entire driveway ) for $4,700 . In one spot, several dots of wet cement persisted . I addressed Olson instantly . They waved the problem : it would dry . It did not . Then the rain would gather there and form a puddle . Same thing : I called, I was dismissed . In 2019, there are 2 cracks on this corner . Olson would not do anything about it. I have to wait until it becomes worse so that some work has to be put on it again ( out of warranty ) .That is not professional . read more

I have used them a few times in the past. I wanted a driveway estimate but wanted to talk to the owner. I stopped in the first time and left my number with the secretary and she said she would give Dave my number. Weeks went by and no return call. I stopped a second time and gave them my business card, again no response. We would anyone want to do business with someone who can't call you. I called this company on Wednesday, July 20th. 2016 to set up a free quote/estimate for sidewalk replacement at a home I own in Taylor Mi on Friday, July 22nd. The young lady on the phone told me they would email me the estimate as soon as it was done. I did not receive the quote and I called back on Tuesday, July 26th to ask to have it emailed again to me being the young lady on the phone confirmed it was emailed. So I waited all day 7/26/2016 for the quote. No quote was emailed me. I called first thing Wed. July 27th. and ask for the quote over the phone. The young girl on the phone said their computer was down and she would call me back in a little bit. Well, a few hours went by and no call. I called again and asked for a manager. There was no manager available. I again explained that all I wanted was the quote over the phone so that I could ok the work. The young lady who answered the phone said just a minute. I waited than another young lady came on the phone and told me that the estimator was on the way into the office and would be dropping off the quote. I then lost my patience and told them they lied to me that that had the quote and that they sent it to me two times. I told them I would not ever use them and I would make sure I let everyone else I could possible reach through word of mouth and social media on how terrible customer service is with this company. It was a great start with a good estimate and initially good customer service. I didn't haggle the price, because it seemed right. Fast forward to the work beginning a few weeks after the deposit and the job didn't get finished. I called to get an update and was told it would be done the next week. I received the invoice for the total cost of the work, so I called the office to explain that I wouldn't pay until the job was done. Crew came out to do more work the following week, but didn't do masonry work (chimney and tuck point). Damage was done to 3 cement slabs not being replaced and I called Bob (estimator) to discuss the damage. He came out and told me it would be taken care of free of charge and apologized. 3 weeks later the masonry work gets done but no follow up on the damaged cement slabs that I was told would be replaced. I received 6 phone calls trying to collect for the remaining balance, despite the job not being done, each time I explained why I wasn't paying yet (job not done). Eventually, Bob calls me and states he is "walking a thin line with his boss because they aren't responsible for damage done by the crew, per the contract, but he disagreed with it". He then stated he would come out to work something out, but never showed despite multiple calls for 3 weeks. I even offered to pay for one of the slabs because I need them repaired now. The job started in July. The work contracted was finished in September, but the damage to 3 large cement slabs (cracked in half by the crew's equipment) were never repaired. Probably 20-30 calls to the office or Bob trying to figure out why the job wasn't being done, why the office was calling to collect $ for an unfinished job, and trying to get the damage repaired. I eventually paid the bill, because I was sick and tired of the ongoing bullshit. I had family members asking if they should go through Olson for work they need and multiple employees as well. I had to tell each of them no and to go through someone else. They lost future business because this highly disorganized and unfair handling of the entire situation that never should have been so complicated. STAY AWAY read more

They installed a concrete driveway in 2014. NINE sections cracked within a month. They replaced the cracked sections. A month latter, two of the replaced sections cracked. I've been calling them for over a year to replace the cracked sections. Chris Pasut comes out twice, states the owner has to agree to replace the cracked concrete driveway sections. Promises that owner will get back with me. The owner never calls or is in the office when I call. BBB was contacted and sent business three letters. No response from company. Court looks like my only solution. Stay away. read more

Beware! Make sure you get every little thing they say in writing because our experience showed us they do not do what they say. We had quite a large project we were promised supervision on site and did not get it. We were promised large work crews to get the job done quickly and did not get large crews at times only two to four people. They did not complete the work on a timely manner. They shelved ours in the middle of the work to work on smaller jobs. We had to supervise everything because of haphazard work ethics. Large garage trusses, gambrel attic style, was hand lifted instead of using a crane causing bends in each truss. Stairway to second floor was not constructed properly, and worst of all, we have a large step crack which indicates foundation problems. They never completed work satisfactorily or fixed all problems. We are highly dissatisfied with their work. To sum up our problems, the owner told us he knows there were many problems on the job and our job was a learning experience. What homeowner wants to be a learning experience? read more
