I finally got to check this new coffee place out! They're directly on the opposite corner from Starbucks, and pricing was similar. They have a few unique teas and coffees you won't find at Starbucks, that reflect the Pacific Northwest culture better, IMO. I tried the Olympia Fog tea. I would have preferred the tea to steep a tiny bit more before the cream was put on top, but I like my tea super strong, so I can't understand if most of their clientele doesn't. It comes with real rose petals on top! I also got a chocolate croissant, which is from an Olympia bakery. It's an item Starbucks doesn't carry, and beats the one from Marlene's hands-down. The decor was minimalist with a hint of Industrial. I love Industrial AND minimalist. It's just a tinge too far towards sterile, for me, but it would be quite lovely on a boiling hot summer day. It's great to see the roasting room, and the outside wooden/industrial seating looked very inviting, even though it was far too cold for this time of year. The single reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because they didn't have an ingredients list for their tea syrups, and I have a beet allergy. That side of my mouth started to break out in a rash after I left. I need to take responsibility and ask, but a reminder like "ingredients available on request" would have resulted in 5 stars. GAH-- I love Olympia coffee so dang much. First of all, all of their locations are incredibly well designed and beautiful. It feels nice to be there; minimalist, clean, and elevated. I appreciate that Olympia coffee is a B corp and their coffee is fair-trade. I am always diligent to make thoughtful + ethical purchases because it is important to me to support businesses that value not only their employees, but also all of the people who work hard in the chain of production. As far as quality, their coffee is top-notch. Their espresso has notes of caramel and chocolate, but sans any burnt flavors. Phenomenal coffee beans make for phenomenal drinks. Visited for the first time today. The Baristas are so helpful! They suggested a yummy matcha with a darker, toast syrup - and it was spot on. The matcha had an undertone of toasted rice, and paired quite nicely with my Grueyere pull apart cheese bread. I also tried a bit of the the chocolate chip and orange scone - made with just the right amount of crispness-crumbliness-melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Thank you!! read more

Before Covid, this was a nice little place to sit and enjoy a pour over and people watch. Now, it is a great option for to-go. I definitely recommend a pour over. I found the coffee/espresso to be flavorful and bold, which I prefer to the burnt Starbucks roasts or the light, acidic Stumptown blends. They offer tasty, quality dairy alternatives which is great too. So far, so tasty on the pastry as well! The space: The menu is difficult to read, and the flow of service seems odd and perhaps inefficient. I love the wrap-around bench seating, and the marble top tables are super lovely- however small. The little stool seats opposite the bench are WILDLY uncomfortable. It's a smaller space, so I get maximizing the seating capacity... my hope is for this summer that some outdoor tables with nice, padded chairs appear as seating options. Despite the mild seating discomfort, I'll be walking here often for a scrummy bev on the weekends. read more

Been to their location in Olympia before and I was delighted to see that a location opened in Proctor. I've enjoyed their food and coffee in the past. Going in, the seating wasn't as abundant as the location in Olympia, but it fit in with the Proctor vibe. The coffee was good, I love that they have oat milk. Not too many places carry it, so it's nice to see it on the menu. Cinnamon roll was fabulous. Definitely a good place to go while in Proctor. read more

Found this great place in a super cool location. Really great coffee, the baristas are so friendly and know what they're doing. Every cappuccino I've had had been consistent in flavor no matter who makes it. My go to place to study, the patrons are friendly and the place is always clean. Literally I always see them cleaning, that's super nice. My only complaint is the seating. Your back is on this pipe/rail which sucks after a while and is no good for your posture. Also I wish they had a more accessible menu as it feels awkward to stand there trying to read it, perhaps some small handheld ones or a larger one above their heads? Anywho, I still love this place and definitely recommend it to everyone. read more

Its "OK" but with two SB, Cafe Alegre, Metro Market, Top Pot does not really stand out with their coffee beans, service or ambience. They do have a sachre torte that is decent. Limited and not comfy seating. I think for coffeehouses to succeed it should be a nice place to hangout or meet, otherwise just too many to choose. read more

I didn't know I was a coffee snob until I tried Olympia Coffee, and now I can never go back to Starbucks or a Keurig K-cup. Luckily, they sell bags of beans to go, so I never have to be without! I am new Tacoma and this is my favorite coffee place thus far. I really appreciated how friendly the baristas were, and happy to answer questions for a non "coffee snob" like myself. I got the turmeric ginger tea latte and it was so good! very gingery but not too much where it ruins the taste. Several dairy alternative which I appreciated. My boyfriend got a pour over that was pretty good as well, very flavorful. There were several people working/studying at the small tables (I would say seating is limited there for people who may want to sit in a group). You have Starbucks across the street; Top Pot donuts less than a block. Another Starbucks at Safeway... with competition rich in this two block radius, I'm wondering what will make Olympia Coffee stand out. We tried the new Olympia Coffee in Proctor today. It was fairly full of customers, but I was the only one at the counter at the time. I asked for two brewed coffees, one regular and one decaf. My husband received his regular coffee right away and I was told that they don't keep decaf brewed, but would have to do a "pour-over". I was fine with that. My husband didn't like his coffee and thought it was very acidic even after adding some cream and sugar to it. When I finally got my pour-over, it was barely warm and the flavor was terrible. Very disappointing especially when we were charged $6.20 + tip for two 12 oz. brewed coffees. We threw most of it away. We will remain Starbucks loyals where we know we can get consistently delicious, bold, hot brewed coffee. read more

Olympia coffee is really one of the best to be had in town. They actually weigh the grounds they use to pull shots ensuring the most consistent possible. Take a look as they use a teeny tiny spoon to remove a bit at a time to get it just right. The service has been nothing but friendly and efficient since day one. I highly recommend. This place is adorable! The decor is very clean and modern. The baristas were very welcoming, friendly and patient while we decided what to order. The vanilla is made in house and they have both almond and oat substitutions for milk. There was a small variety of pastries as well. I ordered a small iced vanilla almond milk latte and enjoyed it.
