Ebony and Ivory Coffee is a cafe located in Downtown Tacoma. There are three locations; Lacey, Tacoma, and Federal Way. This was our first time visiting one of their cafes. They have a monthly rotating menu of four limited drinks for their drink flights. For the month of February the four drinks were: - Lots of Love Lotus -- pink lotus with rose and lavender syrup, topped with lavender cold foam. - Eternal Flame Latte -- espresso with sweet heat syrup and brown sugar cinnamon, finished with a honey and red sugar rim. - Sweetheart Sip Matcha -- iced matcha with cherry and almond syrup, topped with a maraschino cherry. - Perfect Pair Latte -- espresso with dark chocolate, white chocolate, and strawberry, topped with whipped cream and strawberry drizzle. The drinks were all great. In addition to the drink flight, we ordered a chocolate vegan muffin and a Danish to snack on. The space is wonderful. It is a fairly large space that could be used to study, work, or even socialize in. The service is also excellent. The staff are friendly and delivered our drink flight right to us! read more

With monthly coffee flights, this is such a fun place to meet the girls and try new drinks. It is kinda spendy though at $18 per flight. The Tacoma location is so pretty! With high vaulted ceilings and floor to ceiling windows with offerings of wine too as well as a view of the mountain. The Federal Way location is pretty small with minimal seating. The Lacey location has a tight knit barista fam with a great sense of community and used to host markets in the HUB. read more

This coffee shop is a hidden gem, tucked away inside an office building. It took some time to find it, but once I did, I was amazed by the spacious interior. The counter is a cool, inviting space, and the friendly servers and baristas make you feel right at home. They offer a unique selection of coffee types, and the menu changes regularly. This place is popular and for good reason. Really delicious coffee with a great atmosphere. This location is in the lobby of an office building in downtown Tacoma. It's got a ton of tables, couches, and even some private study areas. WiFi is fast, so it's a great place to sit and get some work done for awhile. I don't know if I can fully describe to you how beautiful and spacious this spot is. It's such a lively space filled with people hanging out, working, relaxing, etc. I can tell you right now if I lived in Tacoma this is definitely the place you'd find me at the most often. I spent about fours hours here and in that time I tried one of the Valentines Day specials, the Pretty In Pink Matcha (banana matcha with strawberry cold foam) and it was a 7/10. Visually very pretty, taste wise it was average, I couldn't really taste the banana and the cold foam disappeared quickly. An hour or so later I tried their Dirty Dianna (vanilla chai, oat milk and white coffee) this one was an easy 9/10. It was one of the drinks that I saw mentioned the most when I was checking out their reviews and I'm so happy I got it. It was all the best parts of having an oatmeal cookie in a latte. Food wise unfortunately I came a bit later in the day so there wasn't as much to choose from but was recommend the Marionberry Danish. To say it was it was delectable would be an understatement. The bread was buttery and flaky, the berries had just the right amount of tang and it all danced beautifully with the cream cheese. Man Washington really does have some of THE best coffee shops and this place is definetly one of them. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in town!! read more

Did I visit here because my sister's name is Eboni and her dog's name is Ivory? Yes! Absolutely lol My recent visit to Seattle I saw a coffee shop named Ebony & Ivory near by the place I was staying. I was soo thrilled to visit, mostly because it's my sister and her dog's name. However, I also love a good iced coffee or latté. Now it was a hike to get here and I mean literally a hike. I never realized how the hills in Seattle, more specifically Tacoma, are more of a mountain than a hill. Haha. Needless to say after a few breaks, a few sweats, and thankfully no tears I finally made it. Upon entry I was thrown off a little by the building. I believe it's located inside of a business but I am honestly not sure. It gives more of a hotel lobby type of feel with a coffee shop. The coffee however was amazing. I loved my iced latte and of course had to order the Ebony & Ivory Latte. I also tried a cinnamon roll and it was very sweet and filling. I enjoyed talking to the staff. They were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and coffee as well. When I visit Tacoma again I'll definitely stop here but next time I'll skip the hike and book an uber. read more

This is a really pretty place. I came here for a change of scenery to get some work done and this might be my new go to spot. I ordered the Malbec and it was a good wine. I'm usually hesitant about Malbec because it can kind of on the dry side but this hit right in the middle . You can also order coffee here. They have plugs for your laptops and phones but some of the tables don't have them, I guess due to where they're located. But it's a cool place. Quiet enough to take calls and get work done. Fun coffee shop! Very spacious and cool interior. It's located inside of the business center but easy to find street parking. We got the regular flight and it was a good idea - but make sure you know that they are not very sweet coffee more just cold brew and regular latte's - so if you want a sweeter version you should order the special that they offer. Vast menu which was fun!! The vanilla latte was good and so was the almond croissant. The bagel was very mid/normal. Overall, good experience and space to be in. read more

This place is good. I had the coffee flight today and my daughter had the strawberry matcha. Beautiful ambience. The parking can be tricky but today was Sunday so free parking and not many people vs going on a work day. They have a vault which is fun and I know you can rent this place out too which is cool. They don't have a lot of food options and the cashier person gave me the schpeel about bussing your own serveware. I get it. There's only two of them for such a large space. Overall, good spot to go if you want to try something more unique and different and cool for meetings. Different lounge areas to be at. The WiFi can be tricky but it's manageable. read more

I came here on 2 different days during Valentine's Day weekend. We tried a Valentine's Day latte (6/10) it was fine. happy cheeks (4/10) it literally tastes like milk with sugar. I've been an Ebony & Ivory fan for some time now, but previously only really experienced their Federal Way location. I was stoked that this one opened closer to home because their coffee flights are always fun! Recently I came in here to work remotely. Sometimes you just need to get out of the home office, ya know? This new location is SO pretty too. Gorgeous open space with plenty of different places to sit and settle in to get work done. A lot of people come here to meet up with others too, but everyone is respectful and the conversation is pretty quiet. Rather than getting a coffee flight like I usually do, I opted for their raspberry white mocha and it was delicious! I also got one of their prepackaged sandwiches (the last one for the day, at that) and it was some sort of chicken bacon one. It was pretty good and a solid portion! An added bonus is that they serve local wines and beers here! Once it hit about 4pm (and it was a Friday, mind you) I decided to snag a wine flight to close out the day. Love the little wine tree that they have and the wines were tasty! Love working remote here and I'll definitely be back to do it again soon. read more

Location: If I could give 1/2 a star less, I would. Not because of the establishment, food, drinks or service but because there were no signs saying where this place actually was! Come to find out, the landlord doesn't allow signage! How restrictive is that for a street-level tenant to not be able to have signs in the windows or above the door! I was astounded to learn this. Ambiance: I loved the piano music played on the piano by one of the owners of Ebony & Ivory. They played beautifully. Loved that! I found out that customers stop in and play also! The space has meeting and conference rooms and "The Vault" presents some interesting settings for a very private meeting. Food: The charcuterie was spectacular. It's one of the things they do and it was huge! Tasted good. I love finger foods and they had the typical cheese, meats, fruit. Everything I would want in one of these. It was fabulous. The owners and staff were amazing, curious and receptive to feedback. I really liked that. I enjoyed the quality of the food, drinks and ambiance here as well as the opportunities they present. We tried their coffee flight called Stairway to Heaven, and our favorites were the latte and macchiato -- surprisingly, because I usually avoid macchiatos since most coffee shops make them too sweet. The ambiance is great and very comfortable. I'd definitely come back just to read and enjoy my coffee. The staff are friendly, and the place is clean and well-organized. Highly recommend! read more

Amazing ambiance with a very cool and spacious interior. There are plenty of areas to study, relax, or chat with friends, which makes it a versatile spot to spend time. They also offer a wine and alcoholic beverage menu, although I do wish the prices were listed more transparently since it feels a bit odd that they are not revealed upfront. Get this: many places dont source good decaf, or train the team that decaf has a SHORTER PULL, or different pull. To be one of the most elegant looking places to get a coffee and a nosh in Tacoma anywhere, because this place has beautiful high ceilings, an amazing floor to ceiling screen sceen and lovely separated spaces so that you and your co-workers can have an informal meeting space. My gps took me to the building and it said I had arrived, but I had no idea where they were located. Attended a Yelp event tonight. Got a great opportunity to meet the owners and have a conversation and learn about the story of Eboni and Ivory Coffee. When I didn't know, they have two other locations in Lacy and Federal Way. I'm going to look forward to visiting the other location when I'm in the area. The vibe at the Tacoma location is 100%. And it's just so cool looking. I really enjoyed how the sections are divided by curtains - giving the illusion of privacy but does not disconnect you from them larger space. read more

This is middle-of-the-road coffee in a very nice setting. I stumbled across it when looking for a place that was near my hotel and open on a Sunday morning. The coffee was only ok and served in just 12 and 16 oz. cups or mugs (no 8 oz's, as is often offered in Portland). Very oddly, the place did not have self-serve sugar, cream, and simple syrup. It was all handled behind the counter, though the barista let me access the sugar ... which was exclusively in single-serve packets! I guess saving the earth is not their highest priority. I find it so odd that a place would operate this way when near some of the best coffee places in the country in Seattle and Portland that almost always have house-made, cold simple syrup on hand for user dispensing, in addition to bulk sugar and self-serve 1/2 and 1/2. I also ordered a bagel with cream cheese (ok; cream cheese comes in plastic packet, but metal knife and ceramic plate). I also ordered a danish that was $5.69! The ambiance is great though. Awesome coffee shop right in downtown Tacoma! Staying at the Hotel Murano and it's literally diagonal from the hotel so stopped here twice during a weekend stay! Drinks: Coffee flight was so yummy! We got iced coffees to-go another morning and they were delicious. They make some really good coffee here. The flavor is not bitter at all! They know what they are doing when it comes to brewing coffee. Food: Cinnamon roll nice and gooey. Everything bagel was good and so was the cream cheese. Service was great! I by accident broke a glass on the coffee flight and the barista was so kind about it. The second time I came in, he remembered me which is also very kind. They were also working really hard to keep up with a long line of customers. While in Tacoma, this is our go to spot to work and drink wine or coffee! The service here is fast and awesome! The atmosphere is gorgeous, it is an old bank turned into a coffee spot. If you ever dreamed of going into a bank vault, this is the place for you. They have taken the bank vault and turned it to bar-top style seating. There are low seating couches and lounge chairs, a big screen tv that projects calming scenery, and always free iced water. This is a great place to meet and study or have a corporate meeting. I first went to Ebony & Ivory in Federal Way, but alas, it's a bit far out of my stomping ground so I don't go there as much as I'd like. This location is much closer to my usual so I'm looking forward to getting it into my coffee rotation! They have a great selection of coffee syrups, etc. so they can make you basically anything you want! The signature menu is small but has fantastic items. This location also has a liquor license for added fun. The building was a bank back in the day, and they've turned the vault into a meeting room which is just delightful! And popular...I wanted to sit in there Beautiful, open area that invites you to sit and stay for awhile. On the second floor there's a piano and it'd be the perfect area for evening events! Tacoma, you slippery legend. Hiding Ebony and Ivory Coffee like it's some kind of caffeine speakeasy? Rude. People told me to check it out, and I figured, fine, I'll go sip another average latte and fake a polite nod. But the second I walked in, I knew I was in trouble. Their website said "A Café That Hits All the Right Notes," and I was fully prepared to roast them with a music pun so bad it'd get me banned from Yelp. Instead? I shut up and sat down. The under-counter espresso machines gave me the first hint this place doesn't play. Then I saw the shot pull: crema so smooth I considered writing it a love letter. The milk pour? Indecently good. Honestly, it felt like the barista whispered sweet nothings to the steam wand before the pour. The space? Not your usual cramped hipster nook full of ficus plants and passive-aggressive "no Wi-Fi" signs. It's clean, airy, and elegant; like the Apple Store decided to learn what good coffee is. And they actually planned for humans with laptops. Floor outlets everywhere. I didn't have to fight Edna for the only working plug like it was the last charger at Sea-Tac. Five stars. Full send. Haha Anyways, when we first walked in, we were amazed by the shelf design that filled with all types of alcohol. It's very artistic. The baristas were so sweet, they just let us take all the photos, and even move out of the way for us to get a good shot. They even told us to tag them and excited to see our photos. I got kiss from a rose, it was a latte with lavender and rose. My favorite type of latte. I could definitely taste the floral taste. You must definitely try it.
