His fencers have medaled at almost every level of competition in the US and in the world. He is, in my opinion, the best saber coach in the country. He will be the 2016 Olympic fencing head coach. Zoran is great with kids of all ages and gets the most out of every kid. He has also built what is probably the most beautiful fencing club in America. The chandelier, the stained glass, the old paintings of famous fencers, the 18th and 19th century furniture , and the arms and armor all around the room make fencing at Zeta a truly unique experience. Fencing is an incredible sport that combines both physical and mental strength and I hope more people try it. I will never regret signing up when I was in seventh grade and getting hooked almost instantly. Nine years later, I am fencing at the Division 1 level in college and can easily say joining Zeta is one of the best choices of my life.

Wonderful sabre coaches - but horrific administration. As…read moresurreal as it sounds, BFC terminated my membership (prepaid for a year in advance) and - wait for it! - physically threw me off their premises with the help of police (not a joke - I have the police officer name and badge number recorded). Guess what for? For me insisting that BFC actually provides me that second lesson a week which they sold me via a contract for 2 lessons a week. For some reason, their front desk person who deals with lesson scheduling somehow thought that it was ok for BFC to provide me only 1 lesson a week when I purchased a contract for 2 lessons a week, and that if I object, the proper way to handle this situation was to call the police on a paying member... I first thought it was some kind of a very inexperienced 20-year-old getting too ahead of herself (she even told me "I am in charge here - you either take one lesson a week or I am calling the police on you". But it turned out that this was indeed the BFC official policy, supported by BFC board of directors Ms. Linda Merritt (board of directors secretary) and Mr. David Hill (board of directors treasurer)... Needless to say that almost a month after BFC terminated my membership for me asking them to provide me the services that I paid for and physically banned me from premises, they still did not refund me my membership fee... So I guess this is the kind of unique member services that BFC offers: for your $750 membership fee you can experience a thrill of being thrown by police out of your private athletic club and be physically banned from it. Something you definitely never find anywhere else... At least I have never heard of anything like that in my entire life. And for the context, I am a woman and I am 57 and I've been a member of quite a number of athletic clubs over my lifetime. I guess this is a special service that BFC has exclusively for their older female paying members - definitely an unsurpassed experience. Being a woman approaching my retirement age, I must admit that it's been a while since I last had a thrill of being thrown by police out of anywhere at all - thank you, BFC, for the truly unique and exhilarating experience !!

This summer was our family's first experience with Puddlestompers. We were very excited for a…read morenature-focused camp and hoped for a high-quality, memorable experience based on the strong reviews and the program's cost. However, on the second day, my son told us that his favorite part of camp was getting to watch Wild Kratts. I was surprised to hear that screen time was being used at a camp advertised around outdoor exploration, so I emailed the staff. They responded quickly, apologized, and assured me it would not happen again. What happened next was far more concerning. The following day, my son was unusually quiet and reluctant to talk about camp. When I gently asked what was wrong, he eventually told me, "My teachers said we can't watch TV anymore because you and Papa told them we can't. Next time I won't tell you." I was shocked and heartbroken. A private concern raised by parents should never be communicated to a group of children in a way that identifies one child or makes that child feel responsible for a change. Regardless of exactly how the message was delivered (I'll never know), my son came away believing that being honest with his parents had caused a problem for everyone, and that he should keep things from us in the future. I suppose the silver lining is that we used this experience to have an important conversation with our son about trust and reassured him that he can always tell us what happens when he is away from home. Still, that is a lesson we should not have had to repair after camp. Since sharing our experience with other parents, I have learned that children watching television at Puddlestompers is not unusual. We are not opposed to screen time, in fact we love watching Wild Kratts at home. I just didn't expect it to be part of a summer camp that promotes an outdoor, nature-filled experience. Other than this incident, my son loved his time there. I'm sharing this so prospective families can ask clear questions about screen use and how the camp handles parent concerns before enrolling.
