Mike and his staff are incredibly knowledgeable about the breed and took the time to answer all of our (many) questions and concerns, making us feel confident in our decision! We also live in the town of Chester and have driven by Olympia for years. From the road it looks beautiful, but we were still so impressed upon entering. When my husband came home with not 1..not 2.. but 3 german shepherd puppies. I knew I needed to find a great trainer and immediately started to call around and interview (face to face and see their office). Im a very protective and research person when making a decision. Olympia Kennels was a word of mouth one and got a lot of positive feedback. I knew immediately when I met Mike and his team it was the place. However I didn't know on day one how amazing this journey would be. To some have multiple pups at the same time most trainers are judgemental and not supportive of this hard journey my family has taken on and we are very capable of. Mike has stood by his word and taken care and taught my family and my pups who are 1.5 years old. They stayed with Mike for 6 weeks at 8months old and taught them a great foundation. He even stood by his word and when we had a minor behavior issue with one of my boys he took him right back and worked with him asap and made immediate room for our need. I am astounded by a few of the negative reviews posted - especially Connor's. Really, after four years you write to lambaste the team at Olympia? Is there some other agenda at hand? I've worked with the Olympia team as it has evolved over the last four years with two GSDs. They have received training but importantly, I have received training from them as well. This training has included: behavior modification, obedience, and trails training. Having shown them my willingness and commitment to train my dogs, they have reciprocated by teaching me and they still help me. Even other trainers have told me that Mike and his team are the place to get the best training. To the naysayers - don't wait if your not happy. Mike's a big boy and can take criticism. would give 0 star if I could. sold us an extremely sick puppy, we called him to tell him our puppy needed surgery. His immediate reaction was "put the puppy down" we said no as he was 10 weeks old and the vet said he had good chances. Breeder said to us "if he lives I'll give you free training, if he dies I'll give you a puppy for half off"... HOW MORBID!!! as if we didn't give him over 4k for the first dog. he lied to us repetitively by saying in 2 weeks he'll have a litter.. HA, months later he finally said he had 15 wk old. turned out to be 6 months. within 2 weeks of getting our 6 month old he's posted about two new litters. hes a pathological liar!!! we called him bc WTF. He gaslighted us and yelled at us on the phone!!!! To top it all off he named one of the new puppies my boyfriend's name. Disgusting and unprofessional all around. support a business who cares about puppies!!! To top it all off our 6 mo is super reactive and terrified of all people. Mike even claimed he was "trained" when he was not at all. Not potty trained, basic commands. He was crate trained, probably because they were left in crates all day. Even when we first got him home, the sight of a collar had him running under the table with his ears down and tail tucked. read more

Signed my 3 year old dog Bear up for 2 weeks of board and train that turned into 4 weeks at the advice of the owner. My dog arrived with basic training completed, including Canine Good Citizen, but had developed some food aggression and dominance issues and needed some work on advanced off leash training and I provided a fully written out summary off what he knew, what he needed for training and his likes/dislikes, basically everything they'd need to know about him. There were multiple issues but I'll try and sum it up as best as I can. The first huge issue was lack of communication. In the 31 days my dog was at the facility, it took 8 days simply to get an update on my dog, despite constant promises of pictures and videos. Day 21 was the first true update, 3 super short videos ranging from 11 - 30 seconds of basic behaviors he knew before going to Olympia. The owner did not have more than a 2 minute conversation with me until I started to email how unhappy I was with the lack of communication and then finally on day 28, the day my dog was due to be picked up, he finally talked with me for 16 minutes!! Yes, you read that right, I wasn't even contacted to be told when or how to pick up my dog and then he suggested I pick him up 3 days later!! On day 14 (by phone), 18 (email) and 27 (email) I asked if my dog needed food and was told someone would get back to me (day 14 by phone) or entirely ignored (the emails). When I picked up Bear on day 31, they had indeed ran out of food and he returned home with diarrhea caused by the food change which took over a week to settle. Bear sees a groomer every 5 weeks and was groomed a few days before and a few days after his return. His groomer noticed when bathing him that he had two distinctive newly healed injuries on the front of his neck, likely caused by an e-collar, and that his neck fur had been shaved and brought this to my attention. She also stated that Bear had become aggressive when she went to use clippers on his neck, something in 18 months with her he'd never done before, baring his teeth and growling. I immediately took Bear to the vet to get this confirmed by our veterinarian of 12 years. When I contacted the owner of Olympia, he flatly denied the injury, stating it was caused by Bear's Soresto collar. When I pointed out that this collar is something he'd been using since he was 16 weeks old, he changed it to Bear just had normal wear from a training collar being used for a month and that my groomer and vet and I quote "they love to find minor things and try to make a big deal over it so they can take your money." This was absurd as obviously my groomer nor my vet recieved any compensation, yet Olympia kennels profited to the tune of $4400! Every issue I have raised with Olympia has been met with gaslighting and blame being put elsewhere. Bear coming home with diarrhea, wasn't due to them changing his diet without permission, as confirmed by my vet, but by a change in water. His neck injuries, weren't caused by their overuse of an e-collar, rather it was the fantasies of a groomer and vet, or Soresto, or normal wear from training that caused scabs and scarring. Lack of communication, something his own website says is important to them, is due to short staffing, or a member of staff not following through. And to add insult to injury, the sent Bear home with a borrowed e-collar with no charger that stopped working after 36 hours, because the new one they were supposed to provide for him to go home with wasn't there. Have they mailed that out to me since? No of course not. Just more dishonesty. In the owners last email response, he accused me of being negative and just trying to find fault, then goes on to admonish me for not complimenting his staff/trainers. Every issue is always the fault of someone or something else and the lack of accountability is appalling. To address the training, because that is important, Bear did return more socialized due to the enviroment of being around so many dogs in outside kennels. I saw no evidence of socialization training other than with one trained german shephard for 30 seconds in a very controlled environment, so I cannot comment on what interaction there was in general because again, I was never given any updates. Bear also came home with a much improved heel when walking, the one thing I asked for them to work on that was followed through with. However, Bear came home with a fear/aggression at the groomers due to the injury on his neck. His food aggression, my number one concern and reason for his board and train was not dealt with and is just as bad as before and there was no off leash work done. Bear has been home almost a month, and I have held off posting this review until now because I felt that I needed to have the time to assess Bear and also allow the owner to as he put it in his own words, "work things out". I would not recommend this facility, their focus is money and very little else. read more

Eddie was 6 months old and needed socialization and training with other animals and people. Eddies owner was a Retired Veteran that developed health issues and was authorized to have a service dog. Having trained many service dogs over the years it was our pleasure to work with Eddie and the breeder where Eddie was purchased. As many other people have stated on this page Olympia is nothing but a terrible company. I have tried to spread awareness as much as I can about this terrible place but below is my story and I hope it deters somebody from interacting or buying from this kennel. We initially approached the breeder with the hope of welcoming a new puppy into our lives, but the encounter was marked by a series of unscrupulous actions. We bought our first puppy from this breeder. The puppy unfortunately got intussusception. The breeder first suggested that we euthanize the puppy we received, offering to provide a "half off" discount on a replacement. This proposal was morally distressing, and we declined. The breeder then vacillated, suggesting at first that a new puppy would be given to us for free. However, the situation took another turn when the breeder claimed not to have a litter of puppies available at that time. Instead, they presented us with a 16-week-old puppy. Upon arrival to collect the puppy, the breeder finally confessed that the puppy was almost six months old, a significant discrepancy from what was originally communicated. Moreover, we were assured that the puppy was well-trained, but it became abundantly clear that he lacked any meaningful training when we brought him home. The communication from the breeder was inconsistent and deceptive throughout the process, leading us to question their integrity and professionalism. To our dismay, we later learned that the breeder is expecting a new litter next week.. The overall experience left us feeling disillusioned and disappointed, as the breeder's actions appeared to be motivated by deceit and a lack of transparency. It is regrettable to encounter such dishonesty and unprofessional behavior from someone involved in animal breeding. Plain and simple we bought a very expensive puppy that we fell in love with, it was sick from receiving him from Olympia Kennel, the owner Mike told us to put the puppy down and he would sell us another puppy for half off!! Where to start?? There aren't enough good things that I can say about Olympia. I first started dealing with them 10 years ago when we had my Eastern GSD take part in the board and train. My family and I loved them so much that when we had to put him down I knew I needed another GSD and that it had to come from Olympia. The process of getting my girl was so easy and quick! Everyone was so helpful the day I picked her up and gave me lots of good advice. Once she turned 16 weeks, I knew I needed to get her into training right away. Long story short she went and did a 3 week training with Anes which blew me away when I saw the results. Anes communicated with me so well and sent videos and pictures to let me know how she was doing. Anes gave me lessons throughout the process to help me work with her. I spent ample time researching breeders/trainers as I was new to shepherds and wanted to make sure I brought home the right dog for our family. I can say now with certainty that I would not trust my shepherd to anyone else but Olympia. They take their training very seriously but with a heart of gold. My pup is beyond loved there and they are deeply invested in her long term health and wellbeing. I bought her from them and found their vetting process to be deeply thorough. They made sure to get to know our family before allowing one of their puppies to go home with us. The puppy (now 2 years old) has been a hugely wonderful addition to our family. Her temperament is impeccable and she is the constant guardian of my two young children. They sleep on her, brush her teeth, go to the beach and trail walks. She does not leave their side. I owe a lot to Olympia for finding this sweetheart of a pup for us. Second, their training program is exceptional and one that requires owner participation for full benefits. I think people want an easy button in 2024 and that's not practical nor fair to the dog. It's no different than a child in school. That child can have the most exceptional educators at home but if there is no follow-up at home by their caretakers much of that good stuff learned at school gets lost. Don't get me wrong, Olympia can work miracles, but you have got to be an active participant. These are brilliant, loving dogs. They deserve your time and attention. I feel as I should write regarding the GSD I purchased in December 2021. This was after getting an outstanding dog that I lost to Lymphoma after only five years, Thus I was very excited to get my next puppy. She was a disaster from the get go! Nervous, jumping, barking and basically uncontrollable. This was after spending a lot for their in house training. They used the shock collar which had disastrous effects on this dog. She had frequent bouts of diahherea and vomiting, and at times wouldn't eat anything- even home made meals. She was so aggressive to people and other dogs it was frightening. I would see people recoil when she went crazy. Even though she didn't bite, it is very scary to see a GSD like this. I contacted Mike many times and he ghosted me. At first they said she would grow out of it. If I left her alone in the house, she would tear the place apart! So much nervousness and anxiety. I was going too see an animal behaviorist. I ended up giving her to her vet. When I contacted Mike about it, he got right back to me..... but it was too late. read more

We bought a GSD puppy from Olympia in December 2013, Remy Von Olympia. He is a great tempered GSD. He was well socialized and taken care of by Mike and Gina and their entire staff. Remy also went for a 3 week board and train to learn the puppy foundations. He sits, stays, down, and heels great. We have also used Olympia Kennel's for boarding Remy, and our other GSD, Izzy, when we go on vacation or are traveling for work. They take very good care of the dogs. They have a very clean and professional operation. They do group classes, which I have not had a chance to attend, but I am sure they do fabulous work. I even drive all the way from Chocorua (Conway Area), NH to board with them, and they are certainly worth the drive! I purchased an import puppy in 2017 from an outstanding bloodline. I paid a lot for my girl and she was amazing . She suffered a horrible UTI within the first few weeks we had her which unknown to us due to this UTI this lead to kidney disease. Less than two weeks ago my girl was not feeling well and I took her right into the vet which led to an emergency vet visit for an ultra sound which discovered my poor 4 1/2 yr old girl covered in non operative cancer in multiple organs and we lost her 2 days later. I called Olympia 10 days ago to find out if anyone from this litter had any other similar problems and also warn them since some were breeding from this litter and got no response. I then emailed 8 days ago with same info and still no response. I don't understand. They wanted to know how my girl was doing with her kidney disease and to keep them updated. She was the best dog and so loveable. I am devastated that I only got 1/3 of my dog and now she is gone. After this negative experience of non caring of their dogs I don't think I could ever recommend them to anyone. It is too bad because I loved this dog more than anything. read more

I first started taking my dog to training at Olympia Kennels a year and a half ago. I got my first German Shepherd and was told Olympia was the best of the best. I wanted my pup trained the right way and found that Olympia truly lived up to their name. Our trainer is Heather Meader and she is phenomenal! She takes her job very seriously and not only takes her time to make sure you know the right techniques for your dog, but her knowledge is endless! Any question you ask her, she gives you an in depth answer and truly knows the background and "the why". I had such a great experience with Heather, we finished puppy training, intermediate and advanced. I also got my 2nd German Shepherd and am now training her with Heather as well. I can't tell you how many compliments we get with our first dog from complete strangers on how well trained she is. I owe it all to Heather. My fiance' bought a German shepherd puppy 2 years ago from this kennel. He paid $2800.00 for the dog and $2200.00 for training. We picked the puppy after seeing the dad and the dad was an impressive beautiful confident animal. Bruno (our puppy) never grew up to a normal size - at 2 years old he was smaller than a female dog but this was not our biggest concern. His attitude was very submissive and fearful since the very beginning and he could never grow out of it. He was doing the submissive peeing since he was little and unfortunately only the kids at the house could pet him without causing this reaction. He was never been mistreated (everybody asks us what have we done to him when they see how fearful he is). My fiance' had dogs his whole life and we have never seen such a case. Bruno's appetite was often off too. Our take on it is that the dog was over-bred. Two days ago he ate fast and started throwing up immediately after. We did not worry since this had happened before. On the next day he continued to throw up which was concerning but unfortunately we could not take him to the vet during the day. His torso was bloated when we came back from work and an hour later the dog died. The guessed diagnosis was bloat (GDV) and we could have had a chance to save him if we took him to the vet earlier and a surgery after X ray (for about $2000) could have been performed. It is our fault that we did not do that. The kids are devastated and we cannot believe that we lost this expensive dog after only 2 years. The dog had way too many issues. I guess we had bad luck with him but after all the money we paid we were hoping for a strong dog with strong attitude. I would not recommend this kennel. read more

Was absolutely horrified by my experience at Olympia kennels. Upon arrival I was greeted by a lovely young girl who worked at the kennel who seemed extremely friendly and welcoming I wish I could say the same for the actual owner Mike. When I asked if I could see where my puppy would be staying for the next two weeks I got a very cold since Mike did not want me to see how the dog are being kept. The nice girl brought me to the back where the puppies sleep I was absolutely mortified it was filthy conditions crates stacked on top of each other the room had the most dirty odor there was one puppy locked in there by herself it just was deplorable conditions. A few minutes after me asking the schedule of the dogs Mike ripped open the door and begin yelling at me asking me what am I going to do am I leaving my dog or not. I was so taken back by the fact that he was screaming and yelling at me I didn't even know how to respond. I decided not to leave my dog because this man seems to have severe anger issues and I believe he was afraid I was going to take photos of the deplorable conditions of these poor animals. The front of his building looks absolutely beautiful but if you actually investigate where your dogs will be sleeping you will have a change of heart he could not give me a straight answer of a strict schedule. He seem to get upset when I asked if my dog needs to go the bathroom in the middle of the night who takes my puppy outside. Now seeing the awful room he has for the dogs I understand why. I truly believe he keeps those dogs locked up all weekend no dog should ever have to go the bathroom in their crate. I am just blown away by the treatment. I was trying to get my five month old German Shepherd puppy some obedience training I never had intentions of leaving my dog in this horrific environment. Please do your research before leaving your dogs at this facility. Nobody should speak to their clients that way. The conditions that they have the dog sleeping in or not humane. read more

After investing in training (not at Olympia, Mike doesn't seem to do it any more), you love a dog in spite of its problems. She was returned to me with increased confidence, more maturity, and much more consistent obedience. In particular, Mike Dzuria (her obedience trainer) was patient with me as he taught me how to work with her. I've come to Olympia Kennels for training with 2 of my dogs. Both dogs had very unique needs, and areas that I was looking for improvement on. I received individual help for both dogs, step-by-step instructions on how to continue their education at home, and constant support or answers to questions whenever I needed them. Their training programs are all encompassing and lead by highly qualified, incredibly knowledgeable staff. They can help with aggression (towards people or other dogs), basic obedience, specialty training (protection, working dogs, agility) and so much more. They also have a breeding program for German Shepard dogs (including imports from great bloodlines over seas) that is extremely well built, strictly monitored, and producing some awesome genetics. Their litters that I have been able to see or hear about from their current owners have all produced incredibly smart, versatile, and conformational sound puppies; that preform very well over their lifetime. They keep in touch with all the owners and provide training before sending puppies home and will continue training after as well. We had adopted a 4th beagle June of 2019 and two weeks after we had him he started being aggressive with my puppy who was 7 months at the time. I used 4 trainers before finally contacting Olympia kennels thanks to a friend who had great success with their boxer. Heather talked to me on the phone to get to know our situation better and helped me thru how to manage my dog in between the time we had to wait for Mikey to come to our house. When he came he spent about an hour listening to our story and getting to know our dogs. He knew instantly what we had to do to create harmony in our home again. I live above the Obedience Specialist Steve Pinksten he is the worst trainer his 2 dog from the kennel constantly bark and have gone after my 2 small dogs on more than 1 occasion the last time which was yesterday I had to get the police and animal control involved 2 full size German Shepards attacking a 12 pound min-pin without any provocation. I learned about Olympia Kennels through a friends of mine. I trusted this friend enough to let him know that I was having serious troubles with my now ex-husband. Unfortunately serious acts of emotional and physical abuse were committed against me, and my two young children had witnessed most of it. I told my friend that I was moving to my own home and was in serious fear for my life and was thinking about getting a personal protection dog to protect my family, myself and my property. He immediately told me of Olympia Kennels in Chester, NH. I looked them up on their website and was shocked at immaculate quality of their beautiful German Shepard Dogs and their facility. I didnt have very much hope however, since their dogs were far out of my price range. I could afford a puppy of theirs. but I would definitely be put on a waiting list and I needed a DOG that was ready to protect me NOW. My friend urged me to call the Owner Mike, anyhow. I was greated very kindly on the phone by his wife Gina and she had Mike get in touch with me the next day. Mike was not only professional but kind, sincere and very sypathetic to my situation and asked me to come to the kennel. After meeting with Mike, Gina and some of the staff members, I couldnt have felt more at home and at EASE. It was the first time I felt like some of the "weight" was being lifted off of my shoulders. These people have taken me in and made me feel important to them. They showed me the true meaning of neighborlyness. Needless to say they are working within my budget to find me the best dog they can possibly provide, (this means phone calls to different people in GERMANY to find EXACTLY what I need) along with training and lessons for both myself my new dog. I couldnt be prouder to have sighned a contract with Olympia Kennels. I will update and rate again once I have received my Personal Protection Dog!!! read more

My experience with Mike and the trainers was a disaster. He imported a dog for me (he was supposed to be 10 months old but was only 8) and promised to train him. After 4 weeks, he told me to take the dog home. Mike promised me that he would train me along with the dog. I had one brief training with the trainer and then a 5 minute training session with Mike, just before I was to leave with the dog. I had made several trips to NH to get trained with the dog, but they were either too busy or not around, even after I had made an appointment. Although he did get the dog trained to pass the good citizen test, it was not with me but with the trainer. When I got the dog home, he was not house trained, not crate trained, attacked my cats, went after other dogs and was basically uncivilized. He was eating my carpets and destroyed the inside of my car on the way home (he had obviously never been in a car before). I had told Mike that I had cats and the dog needed to be crate trained and he promised, but did not keep his word. I returned the dog as soon as I realized what a bad fit he was. Mike did not return my money but kept the dog for resale. In the end I lost $2000 on the dog, and Mike never offered to split the loss with me. What a great disappointment. read more
