I wish I could give Hudson K9 more than 5 stars because it is so deserved !!! I brought my 18 month old German Shepherd to them after dealing with dog reactivity which started during treat training classes that used barriers . The only answers I got was to keep throwing treats at him and to avoid the situations , basically leave my dog at home . My dog is my world and I want to share my life with him . I was lucky enough to come across Ramon and Hudson K9. From the very beginning, we never avoided the triggers , we never ran and hid from them ; like at the other places . We faced them head on with behavior modification . Not only did Ramon have Odin's confidence grow , but more importantly mine . He reminds me all the time that there is nothing Odin can't do . I'm able to take Odin out with me anywhere now and we are practicing for our CGC . I wish I found Ramon and Hudson K9 sooner, they have been a life saver and have become a second home . I wouldn't train anywhere else ever again!!!! If you are looking for a trainer and facility that offers basic obedience, rally , boot camp, pack walks , street smart walks, canine good citizen prep and testing , behavior modification and so much more I can't recommend Hudson K9 enough . read more

Its taken me almost 5 months to respond here... our experience with our k9 Hudson female trainer (co-owner) was terrible. it started out fine, until our pup's leash was taken out of grasp and our pup was pulled straight up, choking her. ---from that point on we couldn't even get her collar on or put her in the car to attend class... she would panic, tremble...we did attend 2 more but not a good experience our pup even began to nip at us. So, we decided in the best interest of our new pup not to go return for the final testing class. We wrote the establishment and the trainer stating we wouldn't be returning....they just responded with "well, good luck you?". what's sad is her lack of acknowledgment/ asking us how it was going, etc, above all--lack of the trainers awareness here with us and our pup....when she witnessed both of us and our pup get so upset during the last class where the trainer was showing her who boss... and her nipping her now. My dog would not be the dog she is today without the staff at Hudson K9. I would not be the same. My dog, Hana, has really blossomed in her confidence and behavior. We have attended several obedience/training classes, and she attends their bootcamp weekly. We have learned so much together and our quality of life is significantly better because of Hudson k9. It's been a true bonding experience and I can take her anywhere knowing she will behave like the sweet girl she is. I am closer to my dog because of training. My young nephews and family/inlaws are able to walk Hana and I know she isn't going to drag them down the street when she sees another dog or rabbit. I know that she won't injure anyone or be reckless. I have complete peace of mind knowing she is in control and my family is in control. I didn't think that training my gremlins would be possible until I came to HK9. Name something you wouldn't want your dogs to do and mine did it. They train you as well to show you where you can be a better parent (with no judgment!). After the first week of training I noticed little things changing.. by week 6 I have brand new boys! I'm still in awe when they listen to me. I love the friendly atmosphere and look forward to many more classes! Couldn't recommend HK9 and their team more!! read more

This is not a good training facility for dogs. Ive seen him treating dogs roughly and pulling their leashes so hard that the dog was crying and scared. The dog seemed petrified of him and it was sad to see. Ive not only seen this myself but have heard bad things about Hudson K9 and lots of other people have had bad experiences as well. I hope that if you are trying to decide to go here this review changes your mind, I just want whats best for all animals but what I saw and have heard about this place is horrible. read more

I was so disappointed, paid for all the classes and missed one class due to miss communications.I had a different date and time then they had. Lost the class, so no reschedule the worst part was was not given the missed class literature as well that I had paid for . Wish I could give them more than 5 stars as they deserve it. Not even sure where to start. We rescued a roughly 6 month old Pit Bull and really was at my wits end. I could not wait to get to work to be away from him and dreaded the weekends as I had to spend 2 full days with him around. Really not an enjoyable dog experience. My wife and I looked into several training classes and decided on Hudson K-9. I'm so glad we found them as they not only saved my sanity, and my marriage but also kept us from giving up on what turned out to be a great dog. I just could not take it anymore so I was really hoping they could help us. We first went for an eval and I was just blown away by the control Lori had with our dog. It was amazing the difference between how he reacted with her compared to us. I knew immediately we had to sign up for classes and am so glad we did! We have now gone through basic training and several intermediate classes (as well as our CGC test) with both our dogs and our new pup is about to start her first intermediate class! Everywhere we bring our dogs we are always complemented "I wish my dog listened that well" or looking at their dog, "You need to listen like that", or "Wow, how did you get them to sit and stay so well". The answer is always the same, hard work, and of course with the guidance of Lori & Ramon at Hudson K-9. We never would have been able to achieve any of this without them. During class, they make sure you understand your dog's behavior, explain why they are reacting that way and how to correct the behavior. They are very patient and will not only work with you on specific issues you are having with your dog, but also teach you the proper way to handle your dog and make sure you are leaving confident with the techniques taught in class. One of our rescues turned out to be dog aggressive. We started her in classes at Hudson K-9 the first week we rescued her and informed them of her issues. The classes were really focused on those issues in addition to the standard obedience training taught. They even brought other dogs in to help with our specific issues. She also turned out to be very sensitive to noises and even that was addressed in class. I'm so grateful to have found HK9 as we probably would not have kept her if it wasn't for the training at HK9. We brought her on vacation with us to Lake George, NY. Out of all the dogs we saw there (and we saw many), ours was the most well behaved. Even when 2 off leash dogs came running after us aggressively, she knew exactly how to handle it as did we thanks to all our training. It was such a great feeling especially because she is a pit bull which always tend to have such a bad stereotype. I'm hoping we changed some people's opinions on pits while there. We were commented on how well behaved she was more times than I can count. She even came to lunch and dinner with us on an outside patio and everyone was so impressed on how well behaved she was just laying there compared to some labs that were running from table to table, jumping on people. If your dog is driving you crazy, has some specific issues, or is just in need of some basic training then I cannot recommend Hudson K-9 enough. We started going down the positive, food based training route and we decided that it was not very effective for our dogs. The rewards kept needing to get bigger and bigger. That trainer was very nice, but that type of training was just not working for us (I know others that it worked wonders for). After going to another trainer that was quite e-collar aggressive (touting it as shortcut) and seeing our two dogs get progressively worse we decided it was time to look elsewhere. Hudson K9 came highly recommended to us from a Canine police officer. We went into the evaluation extremely low on confidence after the last experience we had with a trainer. Before even signing up for class, Lori and Ramon showed us many things we were not doing correctly. They didn't just tell us, they showed us. We have never left there defeated or upset like we did with the previous trainer. As a matter of fact, every time we leave there we leave feeling very confident and positive about what we have learned. We have since taken our dogs for basic and intermediate obedience training and are looking forward to the advanced training. They do optionally incorporate e-collars, but as a tool (which we had to relearn how to use more effectively for our dogs), among other tools. I can't say enough great things about the staff at Hudson K9. We were not surprised to see others from our previous trainer using Hudson K9 as well. We look forward to many continued training sessions there and highly recommend them. read more

When we first brought home our 5 month old APBT my husband and I were at odds. He didn't know anything not even a name so he was practically wild. We went to work with a sigh of relief just to be away from him. It was up to me where we wanted to go for training and I was looking all over. I was so close to signing up for Petsmart just to save the extra money that I thank my stars everyday that I didn't. I really disliked treat/clicker training and you won't find that here at Hudson K9. The first thing you do is bring your dog in to be evaluated. I was so nervous because I was already have problems with Dex and I couldn't get him to listen or do anything. Hudson K9 are miracle workers. In no time he was sitting and downing and even going for walks. He used to put on the brakes and refuse to move but with HK9's guidance we were walking like pro's in no time. We had such good results with Dex that we decided a few years later to get another dog. We'e already worked our way up to 4 intermediate classes and they're doing so well off-leash. We recently got a puppy and she's just about finished with basic obedience class and it's like night and day. It's great to be able to go back to basic and get a refresher for the puppy. I remember all these things we should be doing that our other dogs do without having to ask. It's an amazing experience and the results are spectacular. I highly recommend Hudson K9. Lori and Ramon make you feel so comfortable and take the time to show you how and when and what to do in certain situations. They'll answer any questions you have no matter how ridiculous you may think they are. All in all, if you have a dog, look no further. This place came highly recommended from our dog's groomer and a friend. We decided it was time that our Boston Terrier learned some manners and learned how to play nice with other dogs. We had a consultation last week, and Ramon made us feel so at ease!! He was extremely thorough with his evaluation. I was relieved to know that our dog was NOT aggressive but just insecure and nervous. He also has about 20 years of experience with dog training all kids of dogs (including police dogs), so that also made me feel confident we picked the right trainer! Hudson K9 offers a basic 6-week obedience class to start with- $200 for group (2-4 dogs) or $300 for private training, so really affordable. They also hold classes on the hour starting at 10AM and last one at 7PM, so reallly convenient schedule! Once we start our classes, I will be sure to follow-up with additional updates on how our Boston Terror- I mean Terrier- is doing! read more

I would not recommend this training facility. I contacted Ramon and Lori to get an evaluation done. Everything was going great, my dog was relaxed for the most part, considering he is a puppy in a new environment.Towards the end of the evaluation they bring out a dog, and a couple of strangers. My dog growls a little,but does not break his sitting position. They say that my dog is to aggressive to be around other dogs and people. I take my dog everywhere, and many strangers pet him and approach him. This is not a problem. I feel like he wanted me to pay the extra 100 dollars for private training so they came up with this aggressive dog excuse to force me into the private training. I paid him 40 dollars for an evaluation, which in my opinion I shouldn't have paid. It's like going to a shopping center and being charged for not liking the product they have to offer. I felt like the whole thing was planned. If you contact them for training be aware that they want the full cost of the training up front. This was inconvenient, and it was never mentioned before it was time to make a decision. In the email they said they would waive the evaluation fee, if you signed up and paid in full at that time. Most dog training facilities I have looked at offer a pay as you train option, So before your training session the payment would be due. Very misleading email. I never would have gone if they were upfront about that policy because I couldn't pay the full amount up front. Instead I left unhappy and felt ripped off. read more
