We enrolled her in Olympia Waldorf trusting the promises of a nurturing environment, holistic education, community, and balance. What we actually experienced was chaos, lack of accountability, broken promises, and a lot of emotional strain. This school is nothing like what is advertised. Please do your research there are even documentaries that shed light on the reality. Sending my daughter here is one of my biggest regrets as a parent. Their school currently does not have a counselor for the students…read more Their principles only been a principle for the last 2 years she's very incompetent and struggles at doing the bear minimum. The whole staff is European they do not have staff members or teachers that represent any of the students of color. Students have been in numerous fights they tend to get a harsher punishment as they are students of color versus their European peers. There is systemic institutional racism in this school and lots of bias and it shows. I literally had to tell the principle why we don't use the word slave anymore because it takes away someone's identity and dehumanitizes them that we use the bird enslavement. And she was so ignorant that she was like wow I didn't know. As in her correculum they still call people slaves. They don't even teach African history they just About learning about Plantation life. Which doesn't give the students of color a very good start. Taught African American history these students could be proud that they came from advanced civilizations that had irrigation systems way before Europe. But you wouldn't want to teach that because you only like teaching European ideology and accomplishments.

We were purposely trying to buy a home in this school district when we moved here. What a mistake…read more I can say that there are a handful of helpful, wonderful teachers and counselors. However, this school is full of students who love to be offended about any tiny thing that doesn't fit into their mold. And the administrators are all too eager to punish students to make sure everyone feels "safe". And I'm using the word safe VERY loosely. And if you ask to see the video evidence of your child doing what they're accusing them of, you will be forbidden and told to appeal. When you ask how to appeal, they'll tell you they don't know and refer you to Google it. I could go on and on about the discrimination against a certain group of people, but I hope you get my point. That said, if you love to look for things to upset you and you want your sensitivities to be catered to, or you're raising children you'd like to never really be functioning adults because they just can't deal with any sort of disappointment or hurt feelings, then this is the school for you!!

I was a student here at OHS and graduated in 2025, I just have to say, a student named Chase…read moreO'Brien (musty dusty white boy who thought he was a gangster even though he's.. really not.) and a science teacher I had there made my experience worse. Firstly, Chase would constantly bully me to the point where I thought even breathing a wrong way would trigger him. And the thing is, I have autism and he went for me, why? because I was different than him. Second, one of the staff here, (earth and science teacher) has been absolutely terrible to me, she'd make me redo a project so many times, then had the nerve not to congratulate me for working so hard, in fact, THE PRINCIPAL HAD TO DO IT FOR HER, which made me feel terrible as I've been stuck in that class after school to work on it with her and I at least wanted her to be somewhat proud of me, but no, the principal had to do it for her which made me feel absolutely terrible, so I'm glad I got out of that class and never looked back. I've been wanting to talk about Chase for a while now, but I never found the courage, but now that I'm out of the school and I'm sure some of the staff and students have forgotten about me, I can FINALLY say this. So, if you're a woman (students have said Chase treats women like trash.), have a mental disability, are a different gender identity besides from the male to female binary, or are just simply existing, STAY CLEAR OF CHASE, HE'LL BE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk, and now I'll forget about this school once again and hopefully pray my little brother survives. (btw, amongst the list of people i listed, im part of the 'different gender identity besides from the male to female binary' and 'have a mental disability' groups as stated before.)
