All in all, I've been here at least 3 times and the experience is very consistent with what feels like an old school hot yoga studio with some enthusiastic practitioners and theatrical teachers. They were some of the hardest classes I've ever taken and I left both inspired and a little defeated. I would only recommend a very hydrated and somewhat experienced person exercise here, it's not for the super newbies unless you take a teacher or class title that really helps beginners. That's my most honest advice because honestly, classes are intense here. The teachers and desk staff are friendly and the facilities were spotless. I feel like I have tried a pretty wide range of classes and teachers (my app says 170, but I have def passed 200), Stephanie, Aura, Marisa, Katie, Sarah, Eric, Auraceli, Tori, and Alexa. My body has personally seen the biggest change since taking Sculpt/Pilates classes consistently. The instructors always brings a fun, positive, welcoming energy. I feel like I get the most out of the class, with how hard I am working, not wasting time, and using the end to fully rest-which rarely happens in the city. I always leave feeling accomplished and well challenged, which I so love. Anyways who knows me, know's how much I love Bode and rave about it. Thanks for creating such an amazing studio space. He was beyond helpful in giving adjustments & options. I have tried almost all of their instructors at this point & I love how each of them are different but all have the same general methods of teaching. It's a really small studio but I love that about it. I also love that they offer virtual classes so I can squeeze in a class between meetings or when traveling. I highly recommend UWS yoga!

If you have never practiced outdoors, please take this opportunity to do so. Birds chirping, snippets of conversation, helicopter sounds, sun moving in and out of clouds, treetops swaying in the wind--you might think: "how can I focus?"...but you do, even more than usual. I am hoping to make most of these Thursday classes with Laurie Sleep because it is that wonderful. There are morning classes on Tuesday, too! After attending a Sage + Sound Sound Bath via a pop-up event last month (it was good seeing you Kathy!), it prompted me to book an actual class @ Sage + Sound at the above stated location. I was immediately interested in the Gong Sound Experience & booking the class online was pretty easy. Sage + Sound has Services, Classes, wellness products, etc. Services include Facials, Massages, Acupuncture, Nail Care via the Nail Salon by Sundays, etc. Classes include Meditation, Sound Experiences, Workshops, etc. Sage + Sounds sells body, hair, skin, products, etc. Once I arrived at Sage + Sound, I received warm greetings via the Receptionist. She explained the various sections - I walked into their cute café, saw the seating area, the nail salon, etc. I was informed that personal belongings are to be placed in the unlocked / unsecured closet area....the communal space where belongings are stored has shelves. Although I put my bag & sneakers in there, I opted to take my wallet & cell phone (turned off of course) into the class. Sage + Sound would benefit from investing in getting individual secured compartments (ex. Lockers - even if people need to bring their own lock, drawers, etc.) where patrons belongings are safely stored & locked away. This would prevent any potential theft of patrons belongings & let patrons feel good knowing their items are safe. The Gong Sound Experience w/ Samer Ghadry was a 1 hr. Class - It was amazing! Sage + Sound's Class / Floor set-up was so comfortable. Everyone laid on their own individual bedding / padding areas w/ a standard blanket & had an eye mask for use. Sage + Sound only had a couple of knitted weighted blankets - it would have been great if they had one for each individual that registered for the class. For a $55 Class, each person should have had an knitted weighted blanket to use if they chose to do so. Samer is an exceptional Instructor w/ such a calm & soothing voice that put me in a immediate relaxed state from the moment he began speaking. The gong sounds, the breathwork, the soothing chant sounds, etc. made for a fantastic experience. Nothing but peacefulness & tranquility. Kristina, owner/organizer made sure everyone was happy and comfortable. I really liked the surprise with the drummers. Upon our arrival to the house we were taken for a little dance which was very energizing and awakening, really what i needed after three hour drive. Food was superb! Healthy, all organic, with juices and wheat grass shots between yoga classes. I definitely recommend In Light Retreats if you are looking for an upscale relaxing getaway where you can make new friends, enjoy delicious food, reconnect with yourself or just enjoy nature around.

I've been to two different instructors and the first just didn't seem to care that much (carrying a latte and sipping it in class while walking around) and another is just saying nonsensical things that don't really resonate with us... This UWS location is so much cleaner than the UES location…read more This one is also less crowded and there is always a lady that cleans the bathroom, keeping it fresh all the time. The yoga rooms and sitting areas are also very quiet, spacious and serene. Exactly what you would want and expect in a proper yoga studio. The classes are also so much better compare the the others I tried in NYC. Not even equinox or humming puppy can compare as they are always crowded since they try to fit as much people as they can in one room, many times in equinox or humming puppy my neighbors finger tips or sweat would fly by and hit me during yoga moves and the bathrooms are always filthy due to the high numbers of people. Even in Pure Yoga UES, you might get a bit over crowded sometimes, but so far the UWS has been great for me, always clean, serene and lots of space to stretch, meditate and just breathe. The only downside is that it is a bit pricy and often don't offer promotions or membership discounts like the other yoga places, however if you are seeking for a fantastic yoga experience I would say it's too worth it if you are in the UWS area and don't have a yoga studio in your home.
