Om Nom is the perfect name for this place because whilst there, all i could think about was Om NOM NOM NOM ! As soon as you walk in to the boutique hotel Adelphi, you sense the personal and fun touches. The lolly jar and lolly bag in reception, swinging chair in the lobby and wire horse installation. Walking past the reception desk and ahead to the host stand marking the start of the dessert bar you are greeted by friendly and professional staff. We told them that we have no reservation and are hoping for an empty table ( it was a weeknight) staff threw a comforting "no problem" and whisked us inside. I can only describe the staff as sleek. they are fast, smooth, friendly and professional. Just the right amount of greet and chit chats. having sampled the Mont Blanc and Tarte tartin at the Yelp event, we opted for Smoked Banoffee, Strawberry fields, and Cendol with a side of Adelphi rose cocktail. My advise is to gulp that cocktail before you eat because after all that sweetness the cocktail starts to taste bitter hahahah The Strawberry field is my fave, with strawberry gelato for mushroom head and marshmallow for the stem, lychee, raspberries and the surprise rosewater sphere that pops in your mouth ( or your fork). It tastes like perfume but with cool texture! The smokey Bannoffee is very very strong, our waiter tells us it is the dessert that divides diners. Love it or hate it. the flamed liquor leaves a thick woody flavour and the dish comes with popcorn, salted caramel syringe, ice cream, choc ball. HOW DO WE EAT IT???? however you want, they say..... The cendol is the only one that I could do without but was enjoyed by my partner. a small choc bowl holds the gula jawa, coconut type pudding and cendol balls. They sit on top a mango pudding. If you close your eyes, you have all the taste of Cendol but it's so bloody confusing for your eyes!! Would we go back? yes I'd like to try the other desserts and perhaps the high tea, if you plan to visit, the degustation is a good idea, $49pp for 3 small version desserts ( all you need). and it looks like each person can choose their own 3. This was a surprise visit for my partners birthday. We stayed at the hotel, had dinner elsewhere and booked for a late dessert. The service in this place is incredible and flows through to the whole hotel. We were seated at a dimly lit table close to each other, perfect for a date. Our waiter poured our wine and had a quick chat to us, immediately making us laugh and feel comfortable. As we were so full from dinner we only ordered one dessert. The mango alphonso. Incredible! Wow! I could eat a million. Perfect profiteroles filled with mango cream, piled high. I asked how we eat it and our waiter merely said "off with her head!" Definitely impressive desserts. Perhaps have a light dinner elsewhere and come in to indulge on the Dessert Degustation - 3 desserts for $48. It's a small place, so reservations are likely needed though there are also a few seats at the bar. We didn't have any cocktails but we saw some some elaborately presented ones go by. I ordered a glass of bubbles which never arrived and we had to get it removed from the bill later. We had 2 small savory dishes which were ok, but not as fabulous as the desserts. (And there's not a ton of savory options for vegetarians). I wish the 3 desserts had come out one by one instead of all at once, as the ice cream from the third one was very melted by time we started eating it. The dishes are all as gorgeous to look at as they are fabulous to eat. Complex creations that will appeal to everyone! The space is slick & dark and the staff is friendly & attentive (despite forgetting the champagne). Definitely a good spot for a date. read more

I've been here twice. The first time was exceptional. Wonderfully made and presented cocktails by skilled (and a damn good looking) bartender. Second time here was... Soso. I came here after my Lucy Liu dinner about 7ish on a Sunday night and there was no one here. That's not the problem I had though! You'd think with no one (Okok, there was another couple there that were having an incredibly awkward first date (yes it was so dead that we could hear every awkward conversation coming out of the poor blokes mouth!)) there the 4 wait staff would be attentive but they weren't. They weren't keeping track of what dessert dish we were up to cos we ordered a degustation one. And I have to dock them more points for my crappy creme brûlée cocktail. So much potential in it. But they burnt the top of it so the experience was very bitter! I guess hit and miss with this place? The desserts are amazing but I wasn't keen on the service the second time around. read more

I'm updating my review because my second experience was quite different from the first. The second time I was introducing a friend to a dessert restaurant I thought would impress. It didn't. We were conducted through a half empty restaurant to a table in the middle of the room in a high traffic, drafty location. I dinned with my coat on. A half hour wait for our selections and I soon discover stale sponge and watered down balsamic pheres that spurted onto my clothing. The pistachio ice cream was nice so where e strawberries. On an up note the wait staff were friendly and nice and the decor was impressive. But I think I'll find another dessert location next time. read more

Holy mother of sweet dessert. We went along for a great experience during the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival. I ordered the raspberry field which was a delight to all my senses. So many raspberry elements filled my plate, meringue, sorbert, mouse, it was right up there for the most delicious & beautiful dessert I have ever eaten. What a smorgasbord of eye candy! Every single dish presented to us was a mini work of art. The best thing was that it tasted as good as it looked so definitely the full package here. So my boyfriend recently surprised me with one of the best gifts ever: a romantic getaway at the new Adelphi Hotel right by Fed Square. While we were there we obviously had to check out the downstairs restaurant and cocktail bar, Om Nom. The desserts were all super cute, not to mention super delicious! The raspberry field is amazing, with berry sorbet and meringues sculpted to look like a little mushroom patch. The banana flambé was also amazing. It came out set alight on a bunch of woody herbs, which smelled incredible. It's fun to watch the plates come out to the other tables too. Every dish is arranged in a unique way. It seemed like every table was taking pictures of their food, including me! Cocktails were creative and really well put together. Definitely not the sickly sweet chocolate martinis you might expect. I had this insanely good sailor jerry milkshake with banana-caramel foam, and a lovely Hendricks drink that came in a cute teacup with a macaron on the side. My boyfriend is more into the boozy Don Draper school of drinks, and our bartender actually made him a couple of classic ones he hadn't tried before. Also he told a little story about them, which was kinda cool. These guys know what they're doing. There are some savoury dishes, but they are little share plates rather than a full meal for one. However, there is a tasting menu that includes several courses of dinner and dessert. It looked great, although I can't remember the specific details. Thanks to Carl and Alex for taking care of us. Such good service and nice to see staff that seem genuinely happy to be there. This is probably more of a special occasion place for me, given that each dessert will cost you between $20-25. Still, I could totally see us dropping in for a drink and shared dessert after hitting up Chin Chin (just down the street). read more

Wow what an amazing place! Make sure you make a booking before heading to this place as it is sure to be fully booked. We began with some tapas which were delicious and full of flavour. It was a great way to begin before we dug into the amazing dessert degustation which was only $45. For this price you get to taste 3 of their desserts that are marked. There were 6 to choose from so my partner and I chose 3 different ones each and managed to try most of the menu. We finished the night spending $164 all together. This included 3 tapas, 2 lots of dessert degustation and 3 pots of tea. I highly recommend visiting this place. read more

Could not fault this place, we went for my partners 30th birthday and had such an amazing time. The food, service, cocktails and yes those desserts are incredible. For the savoury dishes we shared 3, one being steak which was just beautifully cooked, and the scallops...heaven! The theatrics of the cocktails topped it all off, and tasted out of this world. Each little detail of each dish has been thought out so well, and creates dishes you won't be forgetting in a hurry. Price wise I expected what we ate to be a lot, but was so surprised. We had the deal of 2 cocktails and 2 desserts for $80, and what you get for that is incredible. Will definitely be going back and cannot recommend it enough! read more

Last foodie crawl for the day. Arrived about 10pm for and didn't have to wait long for a table. Stopped by for dessert and we got the Chef's dessert paddle for 7 bit sized desserts for $28 shared among 3 people. There was mouse, a Madeline, chilli chocolate and that's about all i can remember. I love the concept of this place- a dessert bar that serves desserts and cocktails at all hours of the day! What could be better than that? We ordered the raspberry field and chocolate souffle. The raspberry field consisted of raspberry sorbet sitting on top of meringue, made to look like a little patch of mushrooms. Very cute! The chocolate souffle came out in a little ramekin with a side of milk foam. Both desserts were good, though not amazing or mindblowing. I had high expectations for these desserts given that that they were not cheap- $25 per dessert! I also a bit disappointed with the size of the desserts, they were tiny and were finished in a few mouthfuls. There is an option to also indulge in the dessert degustation for $55. This allows you try miniature versions of 3 desserts off the menu. The place is filled with groups and couples satisfiying their late night dessert fix. It has a great ambiance and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Overall this is a perfect to go to end the night and to celebrate a special occassion. read more

How om-nom is Om Nom? Om Not very Nom. First of all know that this is a finer establishment and the desserts are all on the pricier side. Second of all know that the chef is a a famous person, so this place is a guaranteed exclusive eatery. The restaurant's boundary itself was quite small. Given the high demand of people wanting to enter (there were lines!) it could perhaps benefit from moving to a bigger venue. But maybe that's part of the experience! The ambiance and decor were lovely, it felt very classy and expensive which makes you feel good about yourself. Food wise, we got the Mango Poblamo and the Chocolate Terrarium. The mango was a delight with pop-in-your-mouth coconut balls and mango sherbet. The terrarium was a sight to behold - being in a glass jar itself justifies your five minutes of trying to take the perfect shot. It was however not as chocolatey as expected, which was a bit of a let down. The pistachio flavours were great, but the chocolate flavours were really lacking. Overall, it was probably a one-off trip for me. There could be finer establishments, or even cheaper eats elsewhere for better food. read more

This place looks quiet fancy but it's so lovely to have dinner there as the decor makes it romantic. Cool and comfortable setting with a relaxed atmosphere, attentive and courteous staff, good selection of cocktails. Prices par for the area and quality on offer with a simple menu that will suit all tastes including vegetarians. Great for couples or small groups, not so for larger groups or quick bites as this is semi intimate and dishes best shared. Also not your standard steak and chips fare, so serving sizes are enough for two when sharing about 5 dishes at approx. $18-$20 per dish. Highly recommend. read more

Six of us looking forward to a fabulous birthday celebration at the first dinner sitting at 6pm. We were totally disappointed to find the vegetarian choices were 'potato or carrots 'because they had 'run out of the other two vegetarian dishes'. Really !! it was the first sitting for goodness sake. Emailed the restaurant, had prompt response from the Director of Beverages and Wine who promised to make it up to us by a return booking at their expense. STILL WAITING. Don't bother booking. We booked for 8.30pm and was told it'd be an hour seating. We showed up at 8.30 and table wasn't ready. They sat us out in the foyer. After half an hour came back saying the table still isn't ready and asked if we would eat where we sat (on stools). We obliged. Let's say that at 9.30pm we were still sipping water waiting for what turned out to be disappointing and overpriced desserts. I hate to be a hater but don't order ice chocolate. Overpriced and unfortunately not worth it.  Extremely poor service and incompetent staff.  Desserts look good but taste is substandard.  Pregnant women beware as they do not cater for you (everything has either raw egg/cold meat/soft cheese) but they advise you that everything is pregnancy friendly (until you turn up and can only eat 2 dishes).  Also if one of the guests on your table ends up in hospital on the day, they will still insist on charging you for their meal as they have a "strict cancellation policy" (and no soul).   After we made a complaint, they offered us 1 free cocktail for our "next visit."  Next visit? Sorry Om Nom but I'd rather eat my foot than come back to your restaurant.  Your website states that "We make it our mission to ensure that you leave just as blown away by our service and staff" and yes, we are blown away, far far away.  We won't be coming back Om Nom and neither will our friends and family. read more
