Absolutely wonderful surgeon. I had heard he was a very good doctor before I had to use his…read moreservices. The medical community in which I work was buzzing about him before I had meet him. When I did actually meet him, my 85 year old mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. He was recommended and referred by my mother's primary care doctor, Dr. Susan Murphy (no relation). Let me first say I have worked as a health care professional for over 25 years and I know 90 percent of the doctors here in the Vero Beach area. Most surgeons are somewhat cocky, have no bed side manner, and some I would say cautiously say have a "God complex". Dr. Ed Murphy has none of those qualities. During her first initial consult he was caring, compassionate and treated my mother with dignity and respect and even held her hand when she broke down during the consult. He explained the risks of the surgery and was truthful and honest about the outcome but did it in a way that didn't completely scare my mother to death. His office staff were extremely helpful and friendly and any questions or concerns we had they answered and helped us with. They were great when they helped us set up Home Health Care for her recovery at home.. By the way, Dr. Murphy was able to save her breast and the scarring is minimal. After my mother's surgery, about 4 months later, my husband had a gall bladder attack and needed emergency surgery. At the ER we requested him for the surgical consult and even the ER doctor told me we couldn't have chosen a better surgeon. The doctor was very busy but still took on my husband's case. My husband loved him! He was very down to earth, and you could joke and kid around with him too. He was also very professional and told us of the risks and complications that my husband might face. He never candy coated anything. My husband too has dealt with surgeons in there past, as he too had worked at a large hospital and knew many surgeons. He was impressed with his bed side manner. Dr. Murphy removed the gall bladder and even repaired a small umbilical hernia. My husband was in and out of the hospital within 48 hours and his recovery was uncomplicated. You can hardly see the scars but I guess that's because it was done with laparoscopy. Also, the wait time at his office for both the consults and follow-ups were pretty good with both my mother and my husband's cases. In past dealings with other surgeons we were waiting 3 hours because the office staff booked 5 patients at the same appointment. That is so very aggravating and then if your late by 10-15 minutes some doctors refuse to see you or make you reschedule.... but they will make you wait for hours. Needless to say, this was NOT the case at Dr. Murphy's office... no 3 hour wait time. One time we did wait an hour but the office called us ahead of time and told us there would be a wait because of an emergency that had arisen and they gave us the option to reschedule. I thought that was very thoughtful. Lord forbid I need his services again, but if I do, I will be calling on him! He is an awesome surgeon and doctor. Highly recommended!!!

There is an option to use My Chart, but rarely, if ever does a doctor reply. It is an MA or staff member. The persons who answer the phones for the clinic are short - tempered; act too busy to talk; rude; one hung up on me the last half hour telling me "you can't keep changing doctors"! Where do these people come from, and how do they get hired on to a health care provider, being the first patient contact! I have huge reqrets that due to my Medicare insurance, this is the only provider available. The last three doctors I have seen, are stoic and act to busy to interact. I am hoping my 4th choice (whom my husband has seen) will be amicable.

(FYI, this hospital has an avg 1.5 star review across every review platform--believe it) I went to this emergency department for a severe Crohn's flare. I have had Crohn's disease for several years, and this same hospital originally diagnosed me and has hospitalized me for it in the past, so the condition is already well-documented in my medical record. When I arrived, I explained my Crohn's history and symptoms during triage. At that time I was told that I would be given medication for nausea and something to help stop the intestinal spasms. Those medications were offered as part of my initial care plan, but they were never administered during my visit. Blood was drawn for testing and I was eventually placed in a chair near the triage area to receive IV fluids and wait for results. I remained in the emergency department for approximately 7.5 hours. During that entire time: * I never saw or spoke with a physician. * No one reviewed my test results with me. * The medications that were offered when I arrived were never given. The department also did not appear busy. From where I was seated I could see the triage rooms and treatment chairs, and they remained completely empty--I photographed them. Several other patients in the waiting room also reported waiting 4-7 hours. After waiting over seven hours without being evaluated by a doctor or receiving the medications that were promised, I finally had to walk into the hospital itself to locate a staff member, and asked to have my IV removed so I could leave. The most concerning part of this visit was not simply the wait time, but the lack of communication and follow-through. Being told medications would be provided and then never receiving them, combined with never seeing a physician or having results explained, made the experience feel neglectful, incomplete and disorganized. Based on this experience, I would choose another emergency department in the area if possible.

When I returned a week or so later for the procedure, my leg was prepped and his PA introduced himself and began the stripping. Dr. Ramdev, the vascular surgeon never joined us. Both legs were stripped and approximately 2 weeks after the final procedure was completed, my calves turned reddish purple, were hot, swollen and took on a leathery appearance. I called the office and requested that the doctor look at my calves as I was suspicious of possible blood clots. Again, the PA looked at my legs and said he wasn't concerned because he thought it looked like sunburned sunspots; advised me to go home and keep my legs moisturized and elevated and call back if there was no improvement in 2 days. I requested a venous doppler and he replied that it was not necessary. I asked to see the surgeon, but he was not available. Fifteen minutes later I appeared at my primary doctor's office when upon first glance, she ordered xrays and a doppler. In 30 minutes I was given a blood thinner, because I had a DVT in each calve. My vote = 0. My recommendation...if you feel the practice is unprofessiomal or lacks competency, RUN and find a new doctor. Personnally, I will never call that practice again.
