I was prompted by a craving for breakfast meats when I realized that Town and Country Meat & Produce carried Frank Corriher meat products! I high tailed it across town and was greeted by smiles and a plethora of products you just don't find in chain stores. When I left, I had sausage, livermush, and country ham in my basket and couldn't wait to get home and fry up a livermush sandwich. I am mad at myself for not remembering that the Town & Country Meat & Produce Market carried the products I craved! It is worth the drive across town and the employees make you feel as if you are the only customer in the world! I will admit that my willpower kept me from buying some of the candies I grew up with. The selection is awesome and is reminiscent of old country stores of a bygone era. Thank you to the Umfleet family for continuing to have this wonderful place that has no peers! The only reason I gave this a FIVE STAR REVIEW is because you don't have a SIX-STAR CATEGORY!!!

The customer service was average because they provided my steak as asked and checked me out without any additional interaction. The ambience was good because the store seemed clean and carried a variety of fresh meats. After the hype, the true test was cooking and eating the steaks. I was disappointed because after cooking, the steak was tough! I won't be going back.

We bought seafood and steaks from them and the seafood was big disappointment. Crablegs are like toothpicks and fishsticks are horrible. Taste like baking soda is in them. I'm a good enough person to take the food to them. They didn't even have to come out and do it. Then he had to go to Maryland on family emergency and told me I would have to wait until he got back. Mind you 3wks have already gone by. We called the company and told them the situation. Said they would get back to us. Nothing. Its been 2days and I don't plan on waiting another day for bad service and terrible food. We don't even know if the steaks are really beef. Mystery meat. This would create happier repeat customers.

I first came here a while back in pursuit of a USDA Prime steak. They routinely carry both Prime and certified Angus ribeyes and strips as well as other cuts of beef, poultry, and salmon. I have only had the steaks, and they are outstanding. The other cuts of meat appear to be of the highest quality. I have also tried their smoked salmon dip, which is excellent, and their chicken salad, which has boldly flavored chicken (grilled?) and is as good as any you will find anywhere. They also have an astounding array of refrigerated or frozen take-and-bake meals. I've not had any of them, but they look fabulous. So if you're looking for something to grill or a prepared meal for you and your family because you're sick of cooking during this time of stay home/isolate/quarantine, I would highly recommend Gate City Butcher Shoppe. If you are hunkered down and not leaving the house at all, then I highly recommend that you visit GCBS on the day the stay home order is lifted, e'er it come. P.S. I'm sorry if "I'm into Something Good" is now playing in a loop in your head. At least it's a cute little song, a 1964 Carole King composition that Herman's Hermits took to #13 on the charts.
