I've been a customer of OMG for over a decade and I can't say enough great things about them! I send all of my personal clients there for quality I know they deserve. The amount of times I have called in emergency fixes from other nail salons for friends is too many to count. Each time they were accommodating and the aftermath always has been spectacular. I love how quickly I am in and out for my nail refreshers (my time is always valued and the results are worth the talent and cost) not to mention I've received the best pedicures accompanied with the most relaxing leg and foot massages. Me and my best friend came here. We were rushed, yelled at like cattle rather then clients, shuffled between two different girls to do our nails in the cluster of everything and charged more then the prices advertised. I swear she pulled a price out of thin air. The owner was very rude and stuck up, as well as most of the staff. Neither of our nails were what we desired. She refused to listen to what I had wanted to have done, which was something natural looking, like a clear Neutral color which she told me she couldn't do, so I asked if she could do a nude color... in which she told me she wouldn't do clear or nude colors, which left me very confused.... I've always stuck to the more natural side when getting my nails done. Every nail salon I have ever been so was able to fulfill that. Instead she pulled out a very unnatural hot pink and said I would like that better and started doing my nails!!! FYI, I did NOT like it better. And to top it off they turned out so lumpy! (Ever felt one of those globes on the stands that spin and they make the mountain ranges lumpy. Well, that sums up the texture and look of my nails.) Fast isn't better, and for $85 yuck! Now we both cringe at the experience! To make things worst my friend and my nails started chipping and one of mine popped off and it hadn't even been 24 hours! The entire staff is so friendly and skilled. I've never been unhappy with my nails here. They're on top of all the latest trends and designs; they're the best in town. I get so many compliments on my nails when I get them done at OMG. I've read the complaints other people have had and I don't understand them. Crystal is really fun and sweet. I think people just have to remember that you get what you give, treat others how you want to be treated. Just because she's a business owner doesn't mean she should have to put up with anyone being rude or disrespectful. I love the service here. I have never had a complaint. Never i have i ever been treated so poorly and the manager treated me like i was poor. The manager Crystal is rude mean & very unprofessional. As soon as 1 of the nail techs became available which was crystal she asked what type of design i wanted i show her a picture from pinterest of these nice lime green nail designs with diamonds. She immediatley told me oh well thats gonna be $400.00 because of the big diamonds costs 38.00 each , the other diamond sizes were $15.00 & 10.00 each. And she was in the process of putting on my nails and well your already at $73.00 and gave me a look then stated so whats your budget??? I changed my mind and told her that ill just put 4 small diamonds on 1 finger of each hand and she smiled with a grinch on her face. She literally charged me a rediculous amount of $138.00. Thats over the top pricing for the type of nail design i got. Just because you got alot of money in your bank account and a luxurious nail salon dont mean nothing. I really wanted to love this place! The pricing is a lot better than most places in Anchorage. It comes highly recommended and if you like designs and more creative nails than I say go. However, my experience was underwhelming to say the least. 1. EVERYONE but me for the 2 hours I was there was offered a large bottle of water. I asked for one at the end and I got a cup of water 2. I was moved around 2 times in the middle of my treatments so they can accommodate others. I ended up sitting on a pedicure chair for my shellac mani and the dryer kept falling off my lap. 3. I got a toe infection after the treatment. 4. I got a thumb infection after treatment. 5. Shellac lasted 8 days before peeling. 6. Although she was super sweet and did a good job my nail tech had no idea about colors and her communication was limited so we had to keep referring back to the veteran employees. 7. Overcrowded which is great for them and they def can use more space. I won't hold that against them, but it makes for a less than relaxing experience. read more

Not a place I'd return to for a pedicure. The salon looks really nice and seems to be more of a high end salon. Maybe my expectations were too high but the services provided were not top notch. I like to enjoy my pedicure and relax, not be rushed out. They don't clean your feet up very well as in cutting the cuticle or even doing some kind of exfoliating, mask or hot towel treatment. If they do, i wasn't offered it. My nails weren't painted very well either. It just wasn't worth it for the price. read more

This place will ruin you for every other salon. Yes, they are also way more expensive than anyone else, and yes, they are strict with their policies. But it's worth it. Just the fact that I can get a full set in well under an hour and have it look as good or better than anywhere else in town means I'm never looking back. And I tried a LOT of places around Anchorage, with only the requirements of "do they make my nails look okay" and "are they sanitary" and basically everywhere else failed. I had heard about OMG over the years and decided to give them a try for my birthday nails. The shellac manicures I got were tough as nails, and still looked AMAZING after 3 weeks. Unfortunately, I was less than impressed with the customer service I received. Both manicures I had here did not start at time they were scheduled for. I arrived a few minutes early the first time I came here for a manicure and found that the girl who had literally walked in just before me was squeezed in for a repair. I wasn't irritated, until the repair ran 20 minutes into my scheduled appointment. After I was seated, I felt that my appointment was rushed through to make up time. When I arrived for my second appointment a few weeks later I was seated within a few minutes of my scheduled time, but the individual who was scheduled to do my nails did not come to the table to start for another 20 minutes. This appointment also felt rushed through. Furthermore, I felt that the regulars were treated better then I was when I was here--I felt a "your just lucky to be here" kinda vibe. TLDR; Overall, this is a nice clean place that does good work. However, I think I will stick to my regular place that has never made me wait past my scheduled appointment times, has always made me feel like a valued client, and does just as good of work. read more

This way first visit to OMG and probably won't be my last. I was greeted nicely at the door and my appointment started right on time. Crystal had a gentle touch which was really nice, I've been to some places that are really brutal when giving a manicure. Crystal was very nice and VERY fast which is great when you want a basic mani. They have a ton of colors in regular polish as well as gel and can do some really nice freehand designs. Only three stars because of the size of the salon the fumes were so strong they gave me a headache. Also it felt really rushed, when I made the appointment I asked for a deluxe mani and gel polish. They did not ask me what services I wanted when I checked in so they started and just did a basic mani. I'll see how long my polish lasts and then decide if I will go back. There prices seem a little high for the services & they charge to remove your gel even when you are getting a mani from gel to gel. All in all I had a good experience, not superb but average. read more

The salon is clean and well-decorated, and their selection of gel polishes is probably the most extensive I've seen of any shop in Anchorage. The staff are also all gorgeous and approachable, and they're chill (they generally keep their cool) but they almost border on too chill (when in the manicure chair I'm comfortably and openly talked at like a close friend when I don't know who these people are). Twice I've requested the same color gel polish and it did not appear as it did on the swatch cards either time. I went in for a color change on my natural nails once and then later went in for a removal, so after soaking off and removing the polish twice my nail beds were filed down until they felt dangerously thin. The protective clear coat that came after the final removal didn't help much. I made an appointment for a full set once, but I don't remember specifying OMG Gel or Solar and I don't remember being asked. At a following appointment to remove them, my tech pried the enhancements off and filed off what was left. There must have been a more delicate way to remove them. I feared for my nail beds again. At this same appointment my tech cut my cuticle on accident and literally said "please don't be mad at me :(". And I wasn't then, and I'm not now. Looking back, to me this just seemed to be the result of trying to work too quickly. As if speed alone is enough to impress and keep customers coming back. Obviously I've been here multiple times despite sub-par experiences. Shady business practices aside (exclusive clientele paying the owner under the table, unpaid "volunteers" - neither of which I've witnessed myself), they've done otherwise beautiful work in my experience and are decently priced. In the end, OMG Nails is (in my opinion) mostly just a unique and easy name to remember until you decide to start doing research beyond shops with websites and active social media accounts. read more

The bride picked me up and then we wanted to go get our nails done for her big day (duhhh), and she already had an appointment here. BUT LET ME TELL YOU- this was the best best best nail experience I've ever had in my 26 years of life. First off, the staff has so much freaking sass and it's literally amazing, second off- they speak English WHAATTTTT??? Third off- they honestly KNOW what they are doing and it's amazing to watch how efficient and amazing they are at their job. I like businesses to flourish but when I'm getting a spa treatment such as a manicure & pedicure I like to be away from the hustle and bustle of the business. It's party time and OMG the music is cranked up and it's pop all in your ears. Let's get down to services...overpriced for great service. You get what you pay for and that's a damn good manicure and pedicure. I'll admit I came her to get hologram powder on my shellac but it didn't appear to be solicited so I kept it simple with just shellac. My pedicure was lovely. I secretly hated the color I chose but I kept it myself. I didn't think they had time for me to bother with a different color. My foot massage was terrific! Best one I've had all year. My shellac also lasted a month without peeling up. It actually never peeled off....I broke a nail and had to go somewhere closer to home and less pricier. OMG is somewhere you go when you know your schedule in advanced to book an appointment and unfortunately I don't have the stable lifestyle to accommodate that. The services were great and I hated the $8 charge to "remove shellac". Sorry....i thought it's already been established if you have shellac and you get shellac again you shouldn't get charged to take it off. That $8 extra I could put towards my $20 tip. read more

Lan was my manicurist, he said he only worked there because his sister was the owner. he seemed like he wanted to do a good job, and when given feedback on how to change something he did gladly. but, really when he changed something, it only got more crooked or worse looking. I loved the water bottles that were given to me, that was a nice touch. My pedicurist seemed like she really hated being there, she never spoke, and I don't even know her name. the foot bath was very cold and one of the other manicurists kept propping open a door because she was too warm, and another manicurist kept closing it, they seemed to have a lot of tension. Disappointed doesn't even cover it. I booked an appointment simply based off reviews and recommendations. When booking they claimed the new receptionist forgot to mention both services are done at the same time...if I knew this would be a rushed appointment I wouldn't have booked. In the middle of rushing Troy forced my nail off. I understand sticking to a schedule but if I didn't say anything he wouldn't have either. When asked he barely could tell me how it happened. Asked him to stop the service and ONLY charge for removal and he said he would need to charge a cancellation fee. I let him know I wasn't paying it due to the lack of communication from the beginning and him ripping my nail. Manager, was willing to waive the fee, which is the correct thing for customer service but then proceeded to tell me she would be charging me an express manicure plus removal yet Troy didn't even do an express manicure. I had to request for him to finish. Overall, manager didn't not do right on the customer service side. The only good thing about this experience was Jackie who did my pedicure. She was more apologetic than Troy and Manager combined. For someone willing to pay $85 for a full set this doesn't seem fair or right. Now I'm reading reviews he's one of the owners? I just don't want to understand why leaving customers on read and using ONLY nail clippers to remove nails is acceptable. Review is for WAXING only. Background: I have come here several times and their manicures are always great. I used to come for waxing often too and see the same person each time, who was awesome. This visit: I recently made an appointment to have my brows waxed and thought I would have the same person as always. When I got there it was someone new I had not been told about or met before. But whatever I rolled with it. She seemed disengaged from the start and had to twice be reminded of what I was there for (eyebrow and lip wax). When she started on my eyebrows she tried to argue with me about what the natural shape of my brows was (as if they haven't been attached to my face my whole life) and kept insisting that one being a slightly different shape than the other was something I had done (whereas every single other aesthetician has told me everyone has some natural differences) and became very combative on that point. She kept taking about "what I did" or should do differently at great length. She was also extremely slow doing the wax itself. In the end she finally did the brow wax but forgot about the lip piece, and I was so exasperated with the whole experience I didn't bring it up again and just paid and left. Never again. read more

Can I give this place no stars? One of my daughters went here here for her birthday with my wife. The owner was there and extremely rude to them, including my daughter. The price was also not the price listed on their sheet. They were rushed along, a process in typically waiting in the car for at least an hour for. They were out in less then 15 and both super unhappy with their nails. I took my daughter else where and the place we took them to to fix them told us all the bad things about this place and I'm not sure what they were saying about her nails but they were shaking their heads and scowling at the terrible job done. They ended up taking really great care of her nails and made her birthday a million times better. My wife ended up taking her nails off only two days later... The rest of the employees were meh...but I ended up leaving because of some of the ridiculous rules in place and the fact that the one time in the whole couple of years I paid big bucks to get my nails done there I had to cancel an appointment and they charged me a cancellation fee. And the fact I couldn't come in was because of something devastating. You should not treat people like this. I understand the need to have this fee in place for the unreliable customers, but not for people who are faithful customers. This was what did it for me. This and the fact that I could no longer bring my drink in. That may not seem like a big deal to most, but it was for me. And DO NOT try and tell me it was for Covid. I went feeling confident looking forward to a trip but unfortunately the experience I had is inexcusable! Paid $283 dollars full set of nails with design and got my toes painted. The owner did my nails she was in such a rush because she was so worried about getting to her next client , I felt like like I was an Inconvenience rather than a paying client! My nails was done so sloppy and poorly. I had to ask her husband to clean off the nail polish off my skin. I ended up leaving the establishment and turned right back around because I just was so upset about the work that was done, she had another nail tech redo the nails that were done sloppy NOT one time did she come up to me and apologize for making me feel so terrible! My fiancé wanted to do something nice for herself after a stressful week. She thought a manicure would do the trick, but it turned out to be the worst nail salon experience she had ever experienced. She told me Christal (the owner) was rude and rushed through the entire process so that she could assist the next client instead of focusing on her. My fiancé came back home shocked from her horrible experience, and you could see that Christal hadn't even taken the time to clean her nails up because there was glue stuck to my fiancé's fingers. I love this place and their quality is great. My acrylic full set lasted over a month. However the girl rushed through my nails so quickly. I was hoping/needing to relax for a bit with a mani/pedi and was done in 40 min! lol And they're quite expensive compared to everyone locally. They charge for a design on each individual nail, for the shape, etc. their prices were already high and I just felt like every little thing was an extra $5-$10.
