I regret not remembering the name of the hygienist who treated me earlier this week; she was amazing . . . such an improvement over the hygienists I recently saw. For instance, during the process of cleaning my teeth, she made a point of making sure that suction was doing its job, so that I never thought I was about to drown or gag. This was so unlike my experience with the dental hygienist at the practice I went to earlier this year. Also, over the past decade or so I've sensed a trend where hygienists want to tell me what I'm doing wrong with the care of my teeth and gums. That didn't happen this time, and I greatly appreciate it. I learned how to focus on my dental care, and left the office knowing more about how to better manage my dental health. I have a multitude of dental procedure related trauma and even cleanings are painful on my very sensitive teeth. Dr. Rick let me meander about every negative experience and all of my needs without judgement. He was extremely gentle, checked in constantly to make sure he wasn't hurting me, and had the decency to remove his hands and instruments from my mouth when he wanted me to answer a question. I honestly can't remember the last time I had such a pain-free experience. The fact that he was a pleasant conversationalist was a bonus. Oh. Also, I am blind, so when I made my first appointment I asked for electronic versions of the forms I needed to fill out. They sent me the forms in a document format that was very easy for me to fill out. When I came in my fears were immediately put at ease. Everyone there is friendly and gentle, they always tell me exactly what is going to happen when and they also have nice background music! After two years they remember what I like and don't like and always ask how my husband and I are doing when I come in. I haven't needed to have any major work done yet, but if I do I'll feel comfortable and safe getting it done at Belle Haven Family Dentistry.

I felt like he would have spent an hour answering my questions prior to and after the procedure if I continued, but all in, he made no assumptions on my knowledge and both he and his assistant were operating at an extremely well choreographed level that made it clear they knew what they were doing and never rushed. A place I don't really want to have to come back to... but if I need to, it would certainly be here with this Endo.

Don't let this deter you because good dental care is so very important and preventative care will save so much $$ down the road. In closing, the office is so comfortable and the staff will go out of their way to make it a stress-free experience. The technology is state of the art. I was wowed by their equipment. I even got a chance to play with the touch screen that displayed the results of my bite exam (for a night guard). It was really cool! My Experience With This Practice…read more Dr. Amir was the surgeon who performed my wisdom tooth procedure. I had all four of my wisdom teeth scheduled to be removed at this practice. I paid for all four extractions, and my insurance was also billed for all four. I also paid the required copay for each tooth. I underwent general anesthesia and went through the recovery and pain believing that all four teeth had been removed. After the procedure, I was told by Dr. Amir and the staff that the procedure had been completed. At my follow-up appointment, I was again led to believe that everything had been taken care of. Later, I visited my general dentist, who took X-rays and informed me that one of my wisdom teeth was still present and had not been removed. I returned to the practice and brought this to Dr. Amir's attention. He apologized and asked me to contact the staff regarding a resolution. After contacting the staff, I was reimbursed only the $136 copay associated with the tooth that had not been removed. What makes this even more frustrating is that because of this mishap, I now have to go through another extraction and another round of recovery, pain, and inconvenience--something I should not have had to go through if the procedure had been completed correctly the first time. My concern is that I was charged for a procedure that was not fully performed, my insurance was billed for all four teeth, and I was not informed that one tooth remained until my general dentist discovered it through X-rays. I am extremely disappointed with how this was handled, particularly because I underwent general anesthesia and the risks and recovery associated with the procedure based on the understanding that all four teeth were being removed
