Ever since Johnny and Ben opened this shop, I've been coming in once every two weeks to once a month and have never had a bad experience. This is the best spot in the area to get a hair cut, coffee, catch a sports game, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Definitely recommend this to anyone in the area! DO NOT GET A CUT WITH REII. I honestly don't leave bad reviews, but this experience was terrible. I showed up for my appointment and was already waiting because he started about 10 minutes late. I asked for the exact same skin fade I got before, but he ended up giving me a completely different haircut that looked nothing like a skin fade. When he finished, I told him that it wasn't what I had asked for. He immediately got defensive and started arguing with me, insisting that this was what I asked for when it absolutely wasn't. What really bothered me was his attitude. Rather than trying to fix the situation, he became aggressive and confrontational. Then he told me that if I wanted the haircut I originally asked for, I had to pay double since he already did the fade I asked for. And I would have to wait around 40 minutes because he had another client. I was charged for a skin fade, didn't receive a skin fade, and was treated with disrespect when I brought it up. I came in for a routine haircut and was threatened by an employee. One barber was loudly ranting about superficial topics and putting people in their place, like how ugly people and nerds should know that they below whatever standards he set for himself. I chuckled at how ridiculous it sounded, to which he confronted me, walking up behind me, pointing at me in the mirror, and saying if I had something to say, I should say it to his face. When I said I was just there for a haircut, he responded that I "better be," or he'd punch me or worse. From that moment on, he hovered around me, circling and staring while I was stuck in the chair. It was intimidating, and I felt on edge the rest of the time. The staff seemed uncomfortable, but also oddly used to it, which is even more concerning. No one should feel threatened while getting a haircut. Unless this employee is removed, I won't be returning. The issue isn't just one person--it's a shop that allows this behavior. I came with a reservation with reeko as my barber. I made it with reeko because Wilson was out who is my normal barber. I've been going to this place for years never once have I had an issue. I go in today and reeko off the batt goes. Oh, I'm not cutting your hair not with my clippers. I'm not gonna cut your hair because apparently I have a skin condition. The dumbass doesn't know what acne is. Apparently he started saying I have eczema and all the stuff. I didn't realize he had an MD. Lol and on top of everything, he's screaming it so everybody's looking at me like yes congratulations dude I realized I had a bad breakout. Doesn't mean you need to fucking advertise it to the world let alone make a customer who's paying you uncomfortable. Absolutely ridiculous never again Will I give that man my money I regret even doing it today as is I was honestly tempted on walking out midway through because , OK I had a bad acne breakout whatever but for you to put on gloves and then say oh, like I had Wilson cut my hair before and I got bumps all over my head does a dumbass not know that eczema isn't transferable and either way don't you disinfect your clippers I know every other other place is supposed to because then he proceeded to say it's licensing that he can't give me a skin fade. These have been my experiences combined to share with You. Fades are not bad, but... -VERY Expensive, unreliable with Poor customer service. -Barbers distracted on the phone while trying to cut your hair. I Got skin cuts. -Owner as well as staff do not respect your time. The wait is no less than 40 minutes with Scheduled Appointments. Constant appointment cancellations with no justifiable reasons. Waited on the Owner to cut my hair with an appointment scheduled over an hour and 15 minutes ago. I saw him with my own eyes making coffee, drinking it, and watching TV casually along with the staff at the back of the barbershop while I waited. I left, the level of disrespect was unacceptable. Multiple appointment cancellations with no justifiable reasons. On the day of the haircut before I left home, I got cancelled. Another, also on the day of the haircut, got hung up on the phones multiple times, nobody answered my calls on 3 separate instances. Another time the appointment got cancelled 5 minutes before arriving at the barbershop as I was parking my car (literally.) Two appointments got cancelled in 1 day. The first was rescheduled for later, the other one as I was walking entering the barbershop I was denied. 1st haircut, I got a deep skin cut on my forehead bleeding and burning, not to mention the 40 minute wait with an APPOINTMENT!!! $45.00 + TIP No acknowledgement of the mistake, no accountability, no apologies, no discount. I was bleeding in front of the Owner. Another mistake that was realized after the fact was notified the very next day. I was told to pay. Bryan (Not the American the other one, there are 2 Bryans) he refused to own up and fix his own mistakes. Subsequently, he cancelled all my appointments from that day forward. Nice location, prices are on par, and the barbers seems to be top notch. For this area, I compare everything to Carl's. They are the "old school" standard that everything should be compared to if that is the experience you are looking for. From that perspective, B & J's is right there, plus some. I always see the same barber, Krissy, and suggest you do too. She does a very good job, and everyone that I know who goes to her leaves happy with their cut. She is friendly, talkative, and takers care of her clients by spending the time to make sure the cut is right. If there is ever a problem, she will see you again and fix it. Being that I always see her, I set an appointment and she was ready when I got there. The special thing about this spot is that is has a trendy and upscale vibe. Everyone wears a denim apron. The chairs and atmosphere is new. They do the hot towel treatment, straight razor shave with high quality shave cream, and an after shave. A cut is $20, with a beard trim it is $25. A tape is $10, which is nice because she cleans up your neck and ears and takes the time to do it properly. It isn't rushed at all. I've been going to B&J's for almost two years, always with an amazing barber named Marcos. I'm super picky when it comes to my hair, but Marcos never disappoints. He's always happy to see me and makes me feel at home in a barbershop that feels like it's geared more towards a younger crowd. Marcos takes his time and does a great cut. He doesn't rush you out just to make more money, like I've experienced in other shops. He is truly a craftsman that takes pride In his work, as well he should be. This is a very cool barbershop. I used to get my haircut done with Ree over at Carl's and he is great. This new place is very modern and has a very nice vibe to it. As great as the place is, I have to give a 1-star rating. My brother wanted to get his beard trimmed, so he went to J&B's. He was very impressed by the establishment. However, he got a head shave and beard trim by Gato that turned into a bad experience. The barber (Gato) was rushing, distracted, and joking around with the other people in the store. At one point he ran the blade a little too hard and ended up cutting my brother's head. Now, this was not just a little cut. There was a bit of floppy skin on my brother's head. (See picture) The worst part is that the barber acted like nothing had happened. He just kept shaving and wiping my brother's head when the blood started coming out. He put some cream on it to dry the wound up and kept going. Upon finishing, he did not apologize nor offer a discount for the botched job. I find this to be extremely rude and unprofessional. I do not know if Gato is part of the managing team since his name is not in the name of the store, but I am sure Ben and Johnny would not appreciate their customers receiving this kind of service and treatment. read more

As an African-American man I visited both predominantly black barbers and hispanic/latino barbers. After a few months of experiencing good and not so good barbers, I finally came upon Ben & Johnny's shop in Sunrise, FL! They are GREAT!!! My barber is Ryan and he does a fantastic job each time. I have a difficult hairline and hair pattern to cut yet Ryan gets it right each time. He doesn't rush, takes his time, and doesn't talk on his phone or carry on conversations with other barbers while cutting my hair, which I greatly appreciate! The prices are great as well. Only $20 for hair, and $25 for hair + beard. You can pay by cash or card, and can schedule appointments ahead of time which is perfect for me and my busy schedule. For each appointment I've had, they've been waiting on me upon my arrival ready to cut my hair. This review is long overdue, especially for head barber Ben. Similar to a lot of his clientele, Ben has been cutting my hair since high school, and although I'm rarely in the area anymore, when I am, I make sure to stop by to get a nice cut. The shop is right off 136th near the IKEA, but sometimes can be easy to miss if you're not paying attention. It's a large shop with about 10-12 chairs, and it fills up quick. I highly recommend using their online appointment system as (at least for Ben) his schedule fills up quick. For a haircut and beard the price is $25, which is really fair. They offer you water always just want to make sure you're as comfortable as possible. The hot towel is also a nice touch. If you're reading this you're clearly looking for a barber, don't hesitate to go to Ben, he won't do you wrong. read more

I came here a few times before finding the barber that "got" me and my hair. Stephen does an incredible job! He listens to what I ask for and always executes with style. One minor thing I don't like is that most of the barbers face their clients away from the mirrors while cutting hair. What's the point of the mirror then? Pros : Friendly staff, generally good grooming provided Cons : You shouldn't rush a customer because you have someone waiting that called you last minute. Also I did not receive a hot towel shave, I don't mind paying more for it. I had crazy razor burn and 2 cuts on my neck and face (using a straight razor with no shaving cream is a BIG NoNo) From this recent visit I'm downgrading to 3 stars. I can honestly say that's its been a long time since I received a really well done professional haircut. I had few requirements for my barber. I trusted him to do a good job, and he (Zach) exceeded my expectations. The place has classic barber chairs, but the place has a modern look.
