Inside the Resturant

So I visited here again today for lunch. I tried the Friday gumbo special but I was disappointed in the value....it was $10 for a small 4 oz container of gumbo and rice. The taste was great but small. I also did not like the boudin ball. I'm used to them being very meaty and flavorful but this tasted like rice and lacked serious flavor. Three boudin balls was also $8.50 and not worth it. The best thing here are the po boys and the macaroni and cheese. I wouldn't venture out and buy anything else from here again.

Very small and family owned business my family truly enjoyed. Don't get fooled by outside. Lot of neighboring suites are empty. Staff were extremely nice with excellent service. Everyone tried the shrimp Po Boy which was straight !! We so had shrimp and grits that was good too. Lastly (don't judge me) but the lemonade was to die for! It was like a slush lemonade. It was so dam good, we almost went back the next day just for that. I got my favorite spots when I come visit my fam in the area and I just added this one.

I finally tried On The Bayou tonight. IT WAS AMAZING! One of the best po' boys I have had in a long time. The gumbo was packed full of flavor. They also have snow cones with a lot of flavors to choose from. If you haven't tired this place on Racetrack Rd you should. They are only open on the weekends.

Beignets Unfortunately not edible

Went when they first opened at 5pm. Ordered a shrimp po boy 10in (but they did not have 10in poboys so I settled for 8in) with Cajun fries and beignets. The fries were decent nothing amazing but not disappointed. The beignets were doughy and tasted like raw dough. The, what I assume is, powdered sugar were just clumps. Definitely was disappointed due to my excitement for some fresh beignets. The Po Boy was good though and I appreciate them actually stuffing it with shrimp versus just 3 or 4 large shrimp.

Menu for On The Bayou

Ooooh Weeee! If you want some cajun food, this place is your go to. It does have a limited menu so if you are looking for an assortment for your picky eaters, this is not your place. Today I had the Chicken Gumbo and received a fair sized bowl. The heat is good (not New Orleans heat) and was very flavorful. My only issue is the price... However, rent in the strip mall and usually a one or two person team working, they could probably lower everything a buck and still be rocking and rolling. Probably because they are only open Thursday-Saturday. So get over here to Racetrack Rd. and get you some of the best Creole in Henry County and probably the Southside!

Cajun Wings/ rice and beans

First time there and had the Cajun chicken and rice and beans plus lemonade. Though the prices are a bit high it was a good experience. Wasn't a fan of the rice and beans as they were a bit mushy. The chicken was delicious as was the lemonade. I will be back to try the gator next.

Awesome chef. Besides all the great Cajun food their salads are incredible delish! Mixed greens with wonderful seeds sprinkled on top , all spot on. All are extremely reasonable in value. The lady I meet there cooking was sweet as the day is long.

I ordered a Shimp Po Boy, Seafood Mac & Cheese and a Lemonade. It took less than 10mins and everything was delicious! I will definitely be back for more of EVERYTHING!

The food and the service are awesome. A little taste of New Orleans. Great spot to eat lunch or dinner.

Not happy with all the fried options on the menu! Also don't think they cleaned my soft shell crab correctly.

Restaurant is very spacious and decor is traditional but overall warm and welcoming. Rashad waited on us and he was wonderful. Warm and engaged he was always available and efficient. We started with drinks and a shared the crab and spinach dip and someone tried the gumbo. Yumm!! For entrees we had several different items from a fried platter, naked salmon, baked trout and blackened catfish. Portions were generous, food well seasoned and everything delicious!! We opted out of dessert because we brought our own celebration cake, but the ones I saw at other tables looked pretty good. Overall a great dining experience!!

When we were finally seated, they split us between two separate tables and told us it was policy that they couldn't push the tables together. We were definitely a little disappointed, but we didn't let it ruin the night. I will say our servers were very nice and friendly throughout the experience. The biggest issue was the wait for the food. Half of our group got their meals, and then it took forever for the other table to finally get theirs, which made things awkward. As for the food, it was pretty mediocre overall. I had the fried shrimp and chicken, which was decent, but honestly I enjoyed the chicken more than the shrimp. One of my friends ordered the Cajun pasta and it lacked A LOT of flavor, definitely needed some salt and seasoning. The place was pretty and clean. I did like their outdoor courtyard to just wait and hang out. It wasn't a terrible experience by any means, but it also wasn't impressive enough for me to really want to come back.

A bit of New Orleans in Canton, GA, Cajun Menu is the French quarters dream dining experience…read more YES, I recommend this place and Tyler or host/waiter. Ask him about the off menu items, trust me they are delicious. Just so you know you're here for the authentic New Orleans food, not the decor. The food is cooked up upon ordering so it does take a little bit longer than a traditional restaurant . Order up!! The design is still a work in progress, but the food is the real adventure. We dove right in on our order and started with etouffe and queso dip & boudin balls( off the menu item). This was served with our drinks so we casually enjoyed each morsel. We then were served our entrees: deep fried catfish etouffe on a bed of rice, the gumbo is off the chain there is lobster and alligator in it, the room is perfectly made for the gumbo as well . Then the crawfish etouffe is also superb. My complements to the chef, 20 years in Mississippi & Louisiana area, you brought me home. Thank you ! We topped off our lunch with the fluffiest beignets ever. The atmosphere is delightful, the food is scrumptious I highly recommend this spot for lunch or dinner.
