We're obsessed. Purchased the Groupon because it included harnesses and shoes for two and my 5yr old and I stayed for 3 hours. TWICE! Looking into membership options probably next... the staff have been wonderful and the other climbers are so courteous and friendly. The facility is nice and clean. Great bathrooms with showers and lockers. There's an upstairs area for kiddos and downstairs area for adults with some easier routes for kids too. Since we were on the East Coast, my beau wanted to show me something that was important to him. He has a membership at this gym and wanted me to see it. The gym is really cool, So many different areas to climb. From areas that are bouldering to different climbing surfaces that test your mettle. I was really interested in the sport, and would have liked a closer look, but that wasn't going to happen on that trip. I remember my dad would take my sister and I here almost a decade ago or more. During the summer we were watching some kids and I thought about this place as it's indoors, great workout, burn off some energy, overall fun and different. There are so many walls to climb and what made it even better is that the second floor has an entire unit developed for kids to climb and free climb and a small indoor playground. This facility also has a free weight gym and what looks like a room where they can do yoga. If you've never climbed they have a detailed video you will watch prior of safety, shoes, and how to clip and put on your harness. Great fun for the family. On the Edge is a decent rock gym in Central Florida. I took a drive from Orlando to check it out and had fun bouldering and using the auto-belays. There are separate areas for top rope and lead, but I didn't get a chance to try them as I did not know anyone there. Overall, the setting in this gym seemed ok. It wasn't a busy time of the day, which was good for me because the space isn't huge. I'm sure if there were kids running around in the evening, it could get crazy. Honestly was not a fan. Came down for the summer from AZ and was looking for a new climbing gym to boulder in, and sadly this was not it. I can't speak to the lead climbs and auto bulays but the bouldering area was really old, lots of holds were broken and you had to use the inside of the broken hold as part of the climb which was dangerous. There was barely any padding for falls, and the volumes were all worn out and not usable for most climbs. Not only this but the route setting was done very poorly. It went from simple V0s to some V2's that people doing V8+ were unable to complete. It's not beginner friendly at all. All in all of you are looking to just Boulder this gym isn't a great place for it sadly read more

Spent $15 for a day pass and shoe rental, and it was totally worth it. Great spot if you end up wanting to climb solo - they had about 8-9 auto-belay routes. I can't say I know enough about rock climbing to describe the difficulty accurately, but at least two were pretty suitable for those of us without much skill. It was pretty busy on a Saturday - there was a kids' bouldering competition going on, and a bunch of people in the top rope area. Will definitely be back! read more

Another update! Seriously, this place impresses me more and more with every visit! I just went through their top roping class. The instructor was knowledgeable and he walked through the process of belaying with me and my husband until he was certain we knew what we were doing. Upon testing out, he gave us some advice on how we should do everything, but we passed! Woo-hoo! We couldn't use the belay area though, because they were REDOING THE ENTIRE BELAYING AREA. You heard me! They COMPLETELY changed up their routes to provide new challenges to their regulars. This is AMAZING! There has never been a week where they are not updating one of their routes, which really proves just how great these guys are! This place really runs a great business - I highly recommend going there! Keep it up guys! read more

COVID update - Dec 2020 - I have not been to this location for a long time. I am glad I came back. It is a stand-alone building with a parking lot in the front and side of the structure. So, there is plenty of parking. You enter into a small foyer with a counter and a small shop. You have to fill out paperwork, and watch a video if you have not climbed or been there before. The video is only 3 minutes and our day pass was $15. You can rent gear (harness and shoes). They have 3 different areas that you can use: a bouldering cave to the right as you enter, a kids climbing area above the bouldering cave and the main climbing area with 3 walls of 2 story-high climbing walls. May of the walls have auto-belay setups. That means that you climb without a spotter and the machine will lower you down to the floor. They have other walls dedicated to the more serious climbers. It is a very nice establishment. Walls and routes to climb were well marked. The gear was in good shape. The people were friendly and the area was clean for the amount of people that were active. Staff wore masks and many of the climbers (but not all) wore masks. Overall a very pleasant place and a great place to work out or have a special outing for a group. read more

This is descent Little Rock climbing gym. Prices are reasonable and it's an ok size facility. Lots of routes with auto belay and a fair amount of top ropes. Not a lot of lead climbing routes and like most gyms they are harder advanced routes. There was only one 5.9 lead route. As far as cons, like others have said the route railings are not well marked. Also the holds were definitely due for a cleaning as some were kinda slick from chalk and grime. Bathrooms have showers and lockers for use, not prescribe but not nasty either. There are a few tables with chairs and seating for spectators or to just take a break and chill for a bit. Overall we had a fun afternoon on the wall. read more

We traveled to Melbourne to check out a different rock climbing gym. We are members at Aguille in Orlando and prefer Aguille over this gym for many reasons. The section below with "The good" would make Aguille even better if they instituted these two things. The good: Autobelay is available if you don't have a partner to climb with. Only kids 12+ (I believe that's the right age) are allowed to boulder. This means no unsupervised little kids running around underneath you waiting to get squashed. The needs-improvement: Top rope is very limited, this option isn't even mentioned to you when you come in and pay. The top rope routes were mostly 5.9+, so if you are a beginner or intermediate top rope climber, this is not the place for you. (I was only able to finish 1 top rope route here and I've been climbing for 2 years!) More than 50% of the routes are not marked with a rating. This includes lead, top-rope, auto-belay, and bouldering. The majority of the routes start out as one difficulty, but as you ascend it gets harder and the hold types change. The holds were pretty grimy and slippery as if they are never cleaned. The auto-belay area is in one section, which is the most packed and most used. So the area with top-roping and lead climbing were mostly empty. Except for the parents that brought their children ages 1-3 to hang out with them there while they (the parents) were climbing. The bad: Not all employees are wearing the gym's shirt so it's hard to figure out who is working. 1 employee was more interested in her cell phone and lying on the ground then paying attention to the hoards of kids that came in and were hooking themselves in and out of the belay devices, climbing underneath other climbers, or sitting in the way of anyone else being able to climb. This went on for all 5 hours. There are cloth covered chairs that are pretty disgusting, but the only option if you want to sit at 1 of the 2 tables they provide. We chose to sit on the bleachers instead. read more

If you're in the mood to do some rock climbing in Florida, your options are obviously limited. As a resident of Orlando, my regular rock climbing gym is Aiguille (http://www.yelp.com/biz/aiguille-rock-climbing-center-longwood) but on a recent trip out to Melbourne for a job interview I finally had my opportunity to try On the Edge, the next closest rock climbing gym at 77 miles away. The gym is laid out in three major sections. The 12-foot high bouldering cave contains dozens of routes where you can climb without a rope. The auto-belay area allows you to climb the full-size walls on your own, with a mechanical device that lowers you to the ground slowly when you come off the wall. The final area is for top roping (climbing with your descent controlled by another person) and lead climbing (you carry the rope with you as you climb, clipping in to the wall as you move up). It was easy to get started here, just sign your waiver and watch a 7-minute video to be ready to climb the auto-belay walls and the bouldering cave. Additional certification is required for top roping and lead climbing, but I was by myself and those activities require an extra person. It's a great workout that throws in a component of problem solving, keeping the exercise interesting rather than repetitive. The auto-belay system is a great way to climb without an extra person, and I wish Aiguille would add a couple of them too. Sometimes it's just too difficult to match schedules with someone else. If I get the job that I interviewed for only a mile or so away from this gym, I'll be picking up a membership without a doubt. read more

I've been wanting to get into indoor rock climbing for awhile now, and today was the perfect day to start. What a blast! It was great fun and an insane workout, I can't believe how sore my entire body is! The day passes are great if you go once in awhile. I'd love to have a membership but its a bit out of my price range right now. Definitely a lot of fun though and I'll go back for sure. Well when me and my girl first came in they weren't welcoming at all. There were three guys who were at the desk and one employee told us to fill out the weaver form ( but we did it already online) while the others stared; as if we were aliens. This was extremely uncomfortable. They gave us our harness and that was it. My girl had to ask "how do we put this on?" Then one of the employees told us to "watch the orientation video." Cool looking rock climbing gym. Large weight training area if you want to work out. There are a good amount of beginner routes if you are new to rock climbing. Big plus here is the number of auto belay devices here. If you are a single climber you'll have a lot of auto belay option, you can also top rope many of the auto belay sad well. If you are new to climbing you just have to watch a quick video to use the auto belays. For the lead climbers there are a couple good routes with interesting feature, remember to bring your own rope, they can't rent out rope here :(. Great staff here, very friendly. As a person who doesn't go to this gym a lot I was really looking at the rating system to get an idea of the route, however many of the bouldering routes as well as the top rope routes were not labeled. The rating probably got wiped off after some time. Also I was looking around for some portable mats for extra cushion and some brushes for the rocks but couldn't find any, but not a big deal, the routes are what count and they are great. All in all this is a fun place for beginner and experienced rock climbers alike. They have a two cool speed climbing routes as well, you can race your friends. read more

Christian gave me a refresher on the top rope class, and it was excellent. I asked him many questions and he answered each one of them painstakingly. After the class, I climbed with self-belay machines, and Christian kindly kept asking me if there were any other questions. Other staff was also very nice. I went there for a competition with my brother and team and I was really disapointed. The rope routes were fine but they were not great. I was really excited to go but the routes were just no! The boulder and rope routes were not graded correctly and there was a huge jump between the V3 and V4 routes. When you are in the boulder area, wherever you stand, you can get crushed by a climber. My dad could not watch me because he would've gotten hurt. My gym is a lot better. read more

The staff at this place should travel to some of the more professional climbing gyms in the country, they could use the experience. The equipment is worn and in desperate need of replacing. Ropes should all be replaced. They make you watch a video and sit on chairs that have stains and smell bad. The video froze at least 10 times. After being told that I am not allowed to show my son belay techniques in the gym, we decide that this place was not for us. Just having holds screwed to the wall doesn't make good climbs. The setters lack creativity and style. If you are getting into climbing, I wouldn't suggest this place as a first stop. This place really lacks the climber community and atmosphere that has kept me climbing since the 80's. Two thumbs down. read more

They also have several autobelays, so if you are are new to climbing or only in town for a short while, you can top rope on your own. We were pretty excited about trying out this gym and it seemed like a decent little gym. I liked that the routes were varied, although a lot of the routes weren't rated or you couldn't see the rating. My main concern about this gym that will keep me from coming back is that our car was damaged in the parking lot while we were climbing. The staff member (a guy with blond hair) seemed to not have any interest in helping us with this issue. He just kind of looked at me and then walked away. We realize that we parked at our on risk, but we won't feel safe parking there again. read more
