They had lots of tomato plants, peppers, cabbage, cukes and lettuce all reasonably priced. We passed on the budding flowers -- just too soon in the season, we think. But they had a lot of choices, so we'll be back in mid-May. We also like their indoor store; they have some fresh-grown tomatoes that are tasty and sell some very good locally grown canned and bottled products (try their apple sauce - really yummy). For the past 5 years it was used very lightly. Without incident, the frame broke and the cushions are sagging. I went to Southworth's Wayside with the Limited Lifetime warranty in hand. They said that covers only parts and not labor. They sent out a repair man who said it would cost $275 to fix the frame and that the cushions were all "shot". He said that type of cushion only lasts for 2 years. The interior of the couch is constructed out of plywood. I didn't want to dump more money into a poorly constructed couch and asked them to come and take it away for me. ( I literally live 2 miles from them.) They said that would cost me $100. At the price of this couch I expected it to last longer than 5 years! Do not buy furniture from Southworth's Wayside Furniture since they do not standby what they sell.

I knew this place because last year my water would not clear and when I took water to this store Mary was so nice and helpful and she did not charge me for testing water and I purchased only what was needed and sure enough crystal clear water within a day. I sent them a message about the filter at 6:00am and before they even opened Mark let me know he could stop by and check out my filter that morning. He text me back saying it was not a big deal and he fixed it with no worries. He is also going to try and connect with me and show me some tips. I received a dump truck load of compost filled with gravel! It is unusable, and I can't return it…read moresince I didn't report it for three days. The limit is two. It was raining, and so I wasn't working in the yard. I assume that the dump truck bed was not clean when they loaded it, but they offered no explanation. I was told, "no, it should not have rocks in it". The kind man who took my call assured me that the manager/owner would call me back to discuss it. No call. No concern. I have been a repeat customer, but no more. Beware, if you buy any dump truck load of anything from The Stockyard in Torrington, CT. Inspect it before the driver leaves. Extremely disappointed with their customer service and care. Extremely disappointed with the quality of their compost!
