For the second time, my wife and I utilized the wonderful services of On The Move, moving company and had excellent results. I shopped around for various moving company quotes which ranged in under $1000 to over $4000. Primarily, I looked at 3 things to help in selecting a moving company: 1) Reviews 2) Price and 3) Location. As we were moving houses in-state (from Cumming to Duluth), it was important to find one that was not very far away. My wife and I made several smaller trips to the new house with boxes to help save on the costs. Pro Tip: - If you're able, consider moving smaller boxes by yourself piece by piece. This saves overall time on the day of move and their final quote. - I disassembled as much furniture as I could before they arrived. (bed frames, mirrors in boxes etc.)As such, the movers told me how grateful they were and also helped to lower the final costs a bit. Setting up the move: - Simple process of going to their website and submitting items needing moved. Since we had mostly the heavy bulky furniture, it made quoting process simple. - Once I narrowed down OTM, I made contact Lauren W. via phone who was very friendly and responsive. I informed her that I had an upright piano that I requested to be moved and she made sure to put in the work notes that the movers would need a piano dolly. - I paid a $150 deposit to "lock in" the date. Communication: - OTM movers were very responsive with keeping me updated with times of arrival and any questions answered. - They sent emails a few days before the move and the day before. They also called about an hour before they arrived to do a final confirmation. Day of Move: - On the day of the move, the crew (Joseph, Jayson, and Archie) showed up on time with their big box truck. - They greeted me then did a walk through to ensure they understood all the items needing moved. Once they understood, they went to work and started in. You could tell they were pros in how they communicated to each other with how they lifted and moved items. - From start to finish at the "old house" took about 2-3 hours. - I informed them that the piano had gotten damaged by other movers in the past and I did not want it to happen again. They made sure that it was handled with care, and it was. - After everything was moved to the truck and tied down, they did a final walk through with me to ensure they had not missed anything. - As it was getting close to lunch, Joseph communicated that they would be taking about an hour break and would meet me at the new house. - They arrived at the new house on time, then I told them where the furniture would need to go. They again started transporting the furniture. - 2 guys typically unloaded while the third assembled. - After everything was unloaded from the truck, I did a final walkthrough with Jayson to ensure everything was where it needed to be, no damage was present and if I needed them to readjust or remove anything. Costs: - While the quote was estimated between 850-950, the actual cost was 1331.69, which I felt was fair. - I paid with check and they lowered the overall cost a bit to wave processing fees if using a CC. Pros: - Joseph (crew chief), Jayson, and Karchie did a great job. They were friendly, enthusiastic, hard working, and communicated well. - They moved 2 heavy refrigerators at the "new house" when asked. - They appreciated that I had taken time to disassemble furniture beforehand and didn't have many boxes they had to pack or load. Cons: Minor complaints: these can be corrected by their crews being more aware of surroundings at customers houses. - They left used and empty tape rolls, soda bottles and trash in the rooms instead of cleaning them up. - After they had left for lunch, I did a walk-through at the "old house" and discovered one of them had forgotten to take their drill they used to assemble some furniture. They were glad when I gave it to them and seemed embarrassed that it had happened. Final thoughts: - OTM is a great company to have you help with your move. I felt the prices were fair and the workers they employed were great. - While we didn't run into serious issues (furniture damaged, personnel problems etc.) I'm confident that OTM upper leadership would not hesitate to make sure the problem was corrected and alleviated. - Another happy customer for OTM! read more

This was our third time using this moving company, so I expected the same excellent service I'd recieved the previous two times. Instead, what I ended up with was furniture wrapped in tape instead of plastic wrap, only after drawers opened and belongings scattered. Several items ended up broken including my sourdough jars because they didn't bother securing the cabinet they were in and instead of taking care with the broken pieces, they just haphazardly tossed things back in. My nightstand now has things that fell behind the drawers that I cannot get to because of how it was transported and the drawers don't come out. My very expensive, solid wood dresser has a huge gouge in the back. The metal legs of my son's computer desk were broken. I am horribly disappointed and will not use this company again in the future, nor will I recommend them again. The "basic" protection plan makes it not even worth filing a claim for. read more

Do not use these overs. We paid for full coverage and they left a LOT of my items IN MY OLD HOUSE! Then they proceeded to damage expensive furniture including my bed, nightstand, crystal lamp, floor lamp, and desk among other items (14 in total). The items were severely damaged and they refused to replace them and instead insisted that they could be fixed and we could not make further claims after the repair. Extremely dishonest liars and we have an attorney who is filing a lawsuit again them probono for full damages! read more

I have now used tis company 4 times in the past several years. I will be scheduling again in the very near future to move my mom. In an industry that is saturated with fly-by-nights, or a couple of guys tryin to make a few bucks, or big time companies without a personal interest, OTM is a jewel of a business and a true blessing. Their own standards for execution of moves as well as for doing business are higher than most customers have themselves. The owners take a personal interest and are hands on with any concerns or problems. Moving is rarely ever- if EVER- a no glitches and smooth event but OTM takes the anxiety, the stress, and the labor from the customer, and without creating a hole in the wallet. Amazing! Tremendous! Stupendous! Fantastic! Terrific! But, seriously, these guys are truly a group of outstanding individuals!!! Moved us in day over 130 miles from our large two story 5 bed 4 bath 3200 sq. ft. home to our smaller 4/2 2k sq. ft. ranch. There was some initial miscommunication that resulted in us needing another truck last minute. However, once discovered, the owners were transparent about the need, the process, the timeline and the additional charge. Even though there was an opportunity for frustration on their side, they just handled the situation efficiently with professionalism, courtesy and respect. They helped us solve our issues and got our family's belongings where they needed to be safely and on schedule. I had double closings so could not be on-site constantly, but the team reassured us everything would be alright and that they had it under control, which is exactly what you need to hear when going through a big move like this. Everyone worked as a team, stayed joyful, upbeat with kept excellent attitudes. They took great care with our things and ended up doing some extra packing that was not even quoted in the initial job without the fuss. They removed lamp shades, light bulbs and did other little conscientious things that I did not expect to ensure nothing was damaged. They worked very hard with no supervision, brought EVERYTHING from my old house to the new one; put furniture back together and finished strong with smiles on their faces. Did I mention it rained the entire day!? Talk about dedication-you could tell they really care about serving others and doing the best job possible. They charged us a very reasonable rate and honored our family's military contributions by giving us a savings discount. Seth, Dustin and their team truly amazed me! And that is not easy to do. They are truly a Godsend! I am just so happy with the level of service we received. It was such a pleasure getting to know you all. These movers (Dustin, Seth and Joe) went above my expectations! They were on-time, courteous and moved our stuff faster than expected! They used our furniture pads but used their tape and Saran Wrap for our furniture. Their rates are more than reasonable and way less than other companies that we got estimates from! I'm glad we went with these local guys! They had to go to 3 different locations to move our stuff and not one complaint! They also offer moving in/out cleaning services, real estate services and Dustin is also home builder; they have it all! We used the movers and the cleaning team. We had a very good experience with On The Move Moving Company. Our move took us from Milton, Georgia to Tampa, Florida. The dates were July 13th for packing, July 14th for loading, and July 15th for unloading into a storage facility. We met Randi at our home in Milton. She was very nice, professional and efficient and gave us an estimate. She gave us a price for packing, loading in Milton, and unloading in Tampa. It was a very fair price and we accepted it. Then, on the 13th, Dwain and his crew of young workers, many of whom were family started packing all of our belongings. They were very courteous, efficient, pleasant, and STRONG! On the 14th, they returned with a large crew and loaded two (2) medium-sized moving trucks, and were finished loading late in the afternoon, at which time they drove to Florida. On the 15th, Dwain, David and Peyton unloaded everything into our storage units in Tampa. All three (3) of them worked very hard, but were always pleasant and professional. They finished around 6:00 pm on the 15th and drove back to Georgia. Dwain was very organized and supervised the job well. When I say RUN not walk away from this company. Let's start with they were 1 hour late to the time they said they would arrive. Secondly I had 22 boxes, 1 queen bed, 1 dresser, 1 couch and it took 2 movers 3 hours to pack up my apartment. I explained to them I had a window at my new building and they had from 10-12 to move me in. They did not show up until 12:45 which was a HUGE INCONVENIENCE. Mind you they quoted me the entire move would only take 3 1/2 hours and ended up taking 7 hours. Dusti the owner is the most unprofessional, disrespectful man ever, the way he spoke to me is unacceptable and his words were "I can talk to you however the F I want because I'm the owner". He also stated after me asking for some type of consolation for the HUGE inconvenience "that's what's wrong with YOU PEOPLE, always looking for a discount" He screamed at a woman at the top of his lungs and made sure to call me from his personal line so it wasn't recorded. I have nothing but positive things to say about OTM. The customer service I received from Candice was AMAZING! I personally work for a moving company and I can say that I did not make the process an easy one for Candice. I was very uncertain as to what I wanted, the day, the time, etc. everything was very much unorganized on my end. Candice was very patient and very upfront about what I would be paying. She did not try and add on last minute costs that I didn't anticipate or agree to, which is common for many moving companies. Used OTM Movers for my move from Georgia to NC. We had to store our belongings for about a month and that meant handling 4 times. When OTM delivered to NC, I had multiple pieces of furniture that were broken. No matter how well you label your boxes, the workers apparently can't read. We have boxes that should be in the house that are in the garage and boxes that should be in the garage in the house. everything that is in the garage is in a jumbled pile with lawn equipment mixed with wood working equipment and boxes that I can only imagine are boxes of household goods that we can't find. We have moved our household with 3 other moving companies and have always been told to leave our belongings in the dressers and cabinets. Whatever you do, with OTM empty everything. OTM turned every piece of furniture bottom side up, onto its side back right side up and I swear they must have shook each piece for maximum harm. Even boxes are bottom side up so you can't tell what is in them. We were told that what was disassembled at the beginning of the move would be reassembled. Ha! What a load of BS that turned out to be. Had to put beds together and had to put the mirror on a dresser. Washer and dryer were not reconnected. A curio cabinet and china cabinet that we paid to have packed were not unpacked or reassembled. Before OTM was even done unloading the truck the lead man was wanting me to sign papers saying everything was in good shape and how careful they were so I didn't even need to look at our belongings. If I could give OTM anything lower than 1 star I would. As I saw someone else say, RUN don't walk away from this company! My original review for OTM Movers was written on May 2, 2022. After 4 months we finally received an answer to our claim with OTM Movers. The owner, Dustin saw the original review and said he would work with me as far as any damages and he would take care of it. He was kind enough to send a couple of men to the house to sort out the pile of boxes and bins left in my garage. After getting our belongings sorted out and placed in the rooms where they belonged, we discovered more broken items and that a considerable amount of our belongings never made the trip from Georgia to North Carolina. We made a claim for damages as well as the missing items for $1620. OTM Movers came back with a settlement amount for $112 for damaged items and nothing for $1100 worth of lost items. You have to love the way Mr. Dustin "Takes care of things". Needless to say I called Mr. Dustin to work with him on the settlement. I thought at least a compromise could be reached but was told that what I am entitled to is just what I am getting. I learned a valuable lesson with OTM Movers. After 6 other moves, not all movers are the same. Apparently, based on Mr. Dustin, it was my fault for not questioning everything in the paperwork. It was my fault for not realizing OTM didn't automatically do inventory. It was my fault for not watching 6 people at one time while they manhandled my belongings. It was my fault that I was unaware that 6 other moving companies don't turn all of your furniture upside down and sideways to wrap it in brown paper. It was my fault to not realize that "things get lost". As the bigger person and customer, I will accept the loss, over a company making a profit. My only recourse at this time is to let you the reader of this review, know which direction the moral compass of this company faces. And it is my belief that it faces inward towards its self. read more

These guys did a terrific job for us. We were moving from one Lake Burton house to another one on the lake. Dustin did a great job in the initial walk through, plus always was very timely with his communications. Dwayne and his team of movers could not have done a better job. First, getting to both of our houses is not easy, but they made it work. Packing was done efficiently and with great care, and the same was true for the delivery and unpacking. We were scheduled for a Mon move and I received a confirmation text on Saturday. I confirmed and ask if they would call before arriving and received a response within minutes. They called 30 min before their arrival. We had a crew of three. Sorry I'm terrible with names. They started working immediately. We had one bedroom that we used as a staging area for the three guest bedrooms, a full owner's suite, full basement, seven boxes from the kitchen and family room along with a few items in the garage. They had us packed in three hours. My husband picked up lunch for them on the way to the new location but they would not stop to eat before unpacking us. They had us unpacked and all packing material cleaned up within two hours. We were charged a little less than quoted because they did not have to use all of the furniture wraps. That was great news! We will be moving again in six months and hope we can use OTG Moving again. read more
