This place is a total scam. I have brought bins of name brand clothing two times now and they offer nearly nothing, but jump their prices to astronomical amounts for what they pay the sellers. I'm fine with selling items for cheap to have them go to families for cheap, but when you see the margin and the raise of cost... it's just not right. I haven't bought anything from this store yet, but I did take items in to sell and all I can say that it was not a good first time experience. I was one of the lucky ones to be able to sell stuff because I showed up at the store right when it opened, and already there was a line for selling before the doors opened. The process is very straight forward for drop off and that was convenient. But when I came to pick up my items they didn't take and also see what they did want, that was a disappointment to me. They offered me some cash which was lackluster, considering the time I took to organize the items for easy sorting. What frosts me the most was that the lady ringing me out didn't even show me what they decided to buy from me!!! The manager was leaving who had done the sorting and just delegated the task of checking me to her and she hadn't a clue what was picked to buy. I brought in a bag full of shoes and 2 boxes of clothes... when I got my unwanted items back all but 4 pairs of shoes were left in the bag so they took most of those from what I could tell, but the clothes in the boxes were scattered and unorganized, which was an upset, considering I laid them nicely and had all matching outfits connected nicely. Instead they just threw the unsold clothes back in the boxes without any care or effort to keep nice. All in all I could have been short changed for what they bought but couldn't known because the lady didn't know what they bought. The manager was nice enough but he was stressing that he had to shutdown buying stuff because he had too much inventory. The place looked disarray for sure, but have the courtesy to care for my items as I did to make your job easier when sorting. I won't be returning to sell items due to these factors listed. WOW, it NOT worth the work at all... never announced this but when calling them today, they state they have a "new system" ! I was there last week said no more items being taken, to come back this week. I called to verify bringing items in today. Now they said get in line daily as the for first 15 people will get cash. I don't want store credit so I am out. it's better anyway as they give you very little for high end brands ....I rather donate then get 1.00 for high end items and let other children enjoy them for free. Be sure to call ahead they don't have the same rules as the day before!! Disappointed in the many different trips I made to tell me they are not accepting more items. This place is my favorite. I follow them on Facebook and Instagram so I can see what the weekly deals are. We 2 kids 21 months and 1 month old they grow out of clothes so fast and I always get a good deal here. Plus when I'm done with the clothes I can resell them back. The owner is super nice and helpful and the staff is always curtious. They have changed owners recently and you can tell the difference in the function/layout of the store. I've been here twice (buying, not selling) and had good experiences both times, including helpful front desk staff who answered my questions. The atmosphere is great--everything's organized and well-lit, and they have a fantastic stroller selection although those are a bit pricey for secondhand, in my opinion. I took several items in today to consign (approximately 70 items). I left my bin so they could "go through it" and decide what they wanted to keep. I asked what the percentage was on the consignment. They keep 66% and only give the consigner 33%. An hour an a half later they sent me a text saying I could come in to get my money. They only kept 10 items! They couldn't tell me why they wouldn't take the rest. They said they may have been worn or stained. That is a crock because all of my items had been in JBF consignment sales and JBF has a rigid policy that there can be no rips, stains, excessive wear, etc. All of my items had been reviewed and were in excellent condition. I asked how much they would be selling my items for and they could not tell me. They would only tell me that they would give me $12.81 for my items. I was furious! Unfortunately I took the money and left with the rest of my stuff. While driving I decided I would sell my items again at JBF but I wanted my 10 items back. I went back to the store and they said they would not take the money back and give me my items. So I wanted to know exactly what they were going to be charging for my 10 items....to prove to me that what they paid me was indeed 33%. This time they had the tags printed so I added them up and divided by .33 and low and behold, they had shorted me $5!!!! Almost HALF of what they paid me!!! I said I wanted the rest of the 33% and they said no. That the $12.81 was an estimate of the 33% they pay. Guess what folks, they will ESTIMATE in their favor every time. You WILL be shorted. When I got home I checked the BBB and low and behold this location is NOT accredited with the BBB. They run a scam of a business and they are a rip off! DO NOT take your items there. Take your items to Just Between Friends (JBF) sales. They are all over the metro area, and are happening almost every weekend. You get a better percentage for you items also! read more

This store is a fav of mine!! That are always so kind and sweet and accommodating!! They work their butts of trying to stay ahead on all the bins ppl bring in and get the stuff out on the floor so fast!! Also the store is so clean, neat, and organized and the ladies are always so eager to help you find whatever it is yo bare looking for! Went on Sunday, July 9th at 11:45. Hours online said the store was open at that time. Large sign on window in huge writing says they were open from 12-5 on Sundays so I hung out to wait. I noticed three (3) employees go into the building between 11:45 and 12:00. At 12:00 I joined another lady to wait in front of the door for the store to open. After a few minutes we both waved the the lady putting away items on the racks. She came over and said to us, "we're not open on Sunday," as she tried to close the door. The other potential customer said to her, "but you sign says you guys open at noon today." The lady then points to a small sign on the door in small font that says they are closed on Sundays. She then said to us, "yeah, if you read the sign it says the store is closed on Sundays. We are trying to be open on Sundays but we don't have people." She then closed and locked the door then turned and walked back into the store. I then went to Kid to Kid about 10-12 minutes away near a Sam's Club. 2 stars because their items looked cute from the window. They need to update their website info if possible and they definitely need to update their store front with the correct hours listed. read more

This is the worst consignment shop I've ever been to not only are all the girls rude but they take forever to go through stuff and all they do is talk about their personal life and they literally give you $.50 for every item. They wanted 30 items from me which were in perfect condition and they were like we can give you 13 bucks for it I was like what is that $.25 each item. This is the absolute, most unprofessional business I've encountered in a long time. There is an 11 hour wait everyday to sell things. When I come in, any day at the time they tell me, "We are done selling for the day." Both managers (2 females who wouldn't say their names) stated they can't do anything and they're overworked. They are so rude and dismissive here and will definitely treat you different depending on who you are. I don't like making things about race but when there is a white person In front of you and you are a person of color doing the same exact thing as that person and they treat you like an inconvenience when they didn't treat that other person that way. You can tell how they operate. They act like when you go to sell its an inconvenience for them when selling is what keeps their doors open and their business running. They make even walking in there feel like a negative experience which is unfortunate specially when I have my kids being exposed to getting treated different. Other than that we were able to find 2 really light weight nightgowns and a bathrobe and some hello kitty slippers for our girl so that was an unexpected win for sure! The girl checking us out was sweet and signed us up for rewards through FiveStars so that we can receive 20% off our entire purchase after collecting another 20 points!!! Not bad! AND since we spent over 25$ we got to choose a free book for a back to school promotion for our daughter!!! Very cool!!! Horrible place to go to the manager is the worst ever. I understand they have policies of how they want the things given I came in with all m stuff in bags and I had taken it out and folded them to try to make it easier. I've lived in many other states and sold to a variety of OUAC. They all will take all day to go through your clothes and only give you .25 cents so that's not even worth complaining about. This location has a huge selection of well.. everything. Their prices are much better than other stores like this, and I didn't notice them up charging for nicer name brand clothes or wears. They also buy a lot of items other OUAC locations won't even carry, like bottle stands and milk warmers. The staff was friendly and nice when I went. I was customer #5 and they're were done going through my items in 2.5 hours, which is 30 mins a person and pretty good for the loads people bring them. They also offered $15 more if I wanted store credit, which other locations do not offer and if I had shopped that day instead of running other errands I probably would have taken it. So, take complaints with a grain of salt, this location offers way more items than other locations, is well stocked, very cheap prices for good brands, nice staff, and reasonable sort time if you're there early. read more

If you ever had any experience with babies, diapers and sports clichés, you know that diapers can't stop a sh*t storm, they can only hope to contain them. Some days they can't even contain them. Those days suck. Poop everywhere. No bueno. That beautiful onesie that your generous friends gave to you at the baby shower get forever stained with deep brown marks of death. This scenario occurs far more often than you imagine it would pre-baby. For that reason, you need more clothes. Lots of clothes! If your baby isn't crapping all over his/her outfits, he/she is probably out-growing them. Once Upon a Child is a great band-aid for stocking your nursery dresser with new outfits without having to pay boatloads at your local boutique. For the most part, this store only has brands from the big outfitters...namely Target, Gap, Osh Kosh, Children's Place, etc., etc. But if you look closely, you can find a few gems hidden on the racks. They keep the store well stocked and organized here - which is a big plus. Also, you can bring your old clothes in and they'll pay cash on the spot. read more

I bought a brand new Peg Perego stroller for $70, does not look used at all. I seriously doubt it was used, sure doesn't look like it. This is a split review--4 or 5 stars if you're buying clothes, 1-2 if you're selling them. Once Upon A Child is a great place to purchase clothing--everything is clean, well organized, and there is a pretty good mix of higher end and discount brand clothing. Prices are notably higher than at a thrift store or sketchy consignment store, but still offer a great value. Selling items is another story. I brought a big box of items to sell--at least 90% of which was in season, in very good condition, and all was nicer brands. They quoted a 3-hour backlog to check in (to their credit, they were spot-on, it took every bit of 180 minutes until they got to my box) but the real surprise was that they only took 25% of the items I'd brought. Given the price they offered (30% of their retail, I believe) I realized we'd be much better off donating the entire box to charity and taking the tax deduction. Lesson learned. read more

I stumbled across this place after hitting up Subway next door. The place was well organized and the staff was friendly. I bought some pretty good summer deals for my 3 year old daughter with short, skirts, and shirts all in the $2.50-$4 range. I was pretty happy as they were Gap and Limited Too brands in that price range as well. As with any consignment store, you have to be smart and watch for ripped or stained clothing. I was happy with all my picks and surprised that out of a huge bag of clothes I shopped for, I only had to return 1 for a rip. I walked out with a huge bag of clothes for my two girls (come on, reversible Gap summer hat for $1?) all for under $55. I win! read more

Took in four boxes worth of really nice baby clothes, toddler clothes, kid clothes, shoes, books, toys, etc. They took $15 worth. I hauled all of that stuff in, and back to my car in less than a half hour. What. A Waste. of time. Ridiculous. This place is legit for second hand baby stuff! How do I know that? If you walk into a store and it smells like somebody's house that has small babies without any babies actually being there, you know the stuff is good. If not, the babies would've destroyed the items, or the parents would've shipped it out with the ample loads of baby diapers before mentioned in my posts. Also, this store only purchases stuff based on needs of the store, so they don't have to accept anybody's garbage. This is top notch, grade A- used baby stuff! Good prices and ever-changing selection. They offer punch cards for buying and selling (one punch for every $10, I believe); I always fill them up fast and love the 20% discount. I cannot tell you how many times i've said, "I Got it from Once upon a child". So you can count me as a fan girl! I agree with another reviewer that this is a better place for buying than selling. They tend to be a bit picky (which in general, is a good thing). Many times, though, I have bought something there, turned around to sell it a few months later in the same condition, and lo and behold it is returned to me. Also, I miss the mega-dollar sales!!! So, I rarely go to this store because I forget it is there. The other day I was on a hunt for a cheap bathing suit for my 9m old and decided to stop in! I was excited because I saw that they buy-sell-trade so I had my sister bring some clothes over to trade for a suit and a few outfits. I signed up and left my stuff for an estimate. Now, I have boxes upon boxes of clothes and I have to admit, I didn't look through what she brought. But everything i have is mainly gymboree and in fair to good condition. Besides they took it all. They needed 30 min so we went to king soopers and stuff. When I went back, they offered $6 for everything, which I thought was crazy but, ok I told the lady i just wanted to trade for a bathing suit I don't need cash. The lady kept talking about store credit and I kept trying to tell her I just want to trade! She didn't get it. She even went to all the trouble to write out a store credit check and everything which I gave right back FOR THE BATHING SUIT. I couldn't get through to her! Whatever, that's fine, moving on....I had about 6/8 outfits picked out, so I asked her if I could come back in the morning with more stuff and if she would hold the clothes. She said normally they cannot hold anything more than an hour but she would make an exception and "try to hold overnight", to which I replied saying if she can't hold them, then ok I will shop around when I come back no biggie. Ok. I go back the next morning at about 9:05, people were waiting outside and finally a lady comes walking up clearly irritated that we are there, unlocks the door goes inside and locks the door making us wait more....finally let's us in. She snobbily told me to fill out a form and put my things against the green wall. We shopped around a bit and then asked when a good time would be to come back. She laughed at me and said "well I'll need an hour at least considering I'm the only person here" I just was shocked by her attitude from the beginning! ON TOP OF NOT BEING OPEN ON TIME! I said "well I was just asking, I didn't know so..." we left. I should have just said forget it and taken my stuff right then. When I went back, they offered me $15 for everything. I brought: Brand new naked boppy still in pkg, with 2 slip covers ($60 new AT LEAST) A tummy time set ($25) A play chair ($30) Wipe warmer ($15) 2 Halloween costumes ($40) A few novelty baby things and some clothes A car seat cover for winter in its package ($30) GET REAL. I just wanted to TRADE for a few things!!!! WOW. I don't want a fortune for my used baby stuff, it is plentiful, and not worth much, I get it. But for all of it can't even get a few outfits? Ridiculous. The attitudes are what did it for me though. These women work for a second hand store, not a coach store. (Even at coach they are nice) Snooty brats. Not my first choice for children's consignment in the Denver metro area, but certainly the best in the Arvada area. That being said, the place is just ok. It has it's perks - they have a great selection and if you are lucky you can find a good deal. Everything is clean and so far all of the staff that I have done business with (buying from or selling to) have been courteous and knowledgeable. It's just a lot of their stuff is kind of high for a second hand store. If you are selling they can be quite picky on what they buy. For example, I went in today to sell about 3 boxes (1 large and 2 medium) which was about 90 pieces. They took only about 10 pieces. This would be OK however, I called before going down and they said they were in need of boys clothes for Fall and Winter from 2T to size 16 and girls winter clothes up to size 5. I went through what i had for these ranges and that was the bulk. There were a few summer pieces for boys as well just in case they might want them. Did they take ANY of the winter or fall clothes? Nope, not really. They took the summer boys clothes! I understand totally that the store buys based on the needs of the store at the time - but why take the few items for a past season when you aren't even going to take the ones you said you needed over the phone? It was a waste of time considering I had to lug the boxes down and drag them in. I was kind of annoyed. They were willing to take one 4T Izod courderoy outfit for a girl - pants and jacket - but only offered 2.50 for it and tried to tell me they would sell it only for 6.50. Again, I understand business sense, I have sold clothing for quite some time for both consignment and ebay/CL.... their 5 t pants alone average about 5.00 and jackets about the same. The set was in mint condition - never worn. Sigh. Needless to say i don't know if I will be going back anytime soon to sell to them. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I went in with 3 bags of clothes. They said write your info down and put your bags by the wall. I did and I sat and waited. I waited and waited. After an hour, I got up to ask how much longer it would be, and they told me at least another hour. I WAS IRATE! How can you let someone sit there for that long and not tell them it's going to be more than a 2 hour wait???? I was already running late for an appointment. I would have gladly left the bags and came back later but they never said it would take that long!!! Unbelievably inconsiderate. If I could, I would give ZERO STARS! Great place to get used baby items. Huge variety, especially in clothes, at great prices. I imagine they don't pay a lot of you're trying to sell because everything is so cheap, but as a mom trying to stock up its perfect.
