Best second hand children's clothing in town! When I was pregnant with my first child, my mother and I went to EVERY single consignment and used baby/children's shop we could find in Edmonton (about 15 of them)... many of which are now closed due to poor quality. Once Upon A Child stood out leaps and bounds beyond the rest! Their standard for quality is great! They do not accept dated or stained clothing unlike many of the used and consignment chops in town! They have a stamp card that you get stamped for every $10 in purchases... after filling up the card you get 20% off your next purchase. They also carry some new items including Bumbos and Robeez shoes! They aren't a consignment store but rather a used store where you can sell your gently used children's clothing for store credit or cash. If you select store credit to be used the same day - you save the GST on your purchase! They carry toys, strollers, cribs, high chairs, books, DVDs, and clothing! They carry children's clothing up to size 7 or 8. However, I have found that used children's clothing 2T and under is usually of the best quality because wee ones often wear their clothing only a few times - especially one time only holiday dresses. Once the kids are toddlers and running amok and eating grown up foods and growing slower it makes more sense that the clothing would be more worn. For 2T and under... why pay new when you can get close to new at a fraction of the cost?!? read more

I gave them about 20 pieces of clothing and they were so stingy and only took 8. They were all gently/not used and if I would've sold it on example facebook market for over $70. These clothing options had tommy Hilfiger, nickelodeon, urban, George etc, They gave me $1-$3 for each piece of clothing. Overall I got $13 and I am not pleased. I had bought the nickelodeon and the tommy for over $20 and I got $1-$3 back for both. The service was crappy and the wait time was 5 hours-1 day. read more

This place has so many great second hand clothing items (and children focused items!). Understandably, they do not have many clothing items for premature babies as most of those items end up being donated to the NICUs in this city. That said there is a good amount of variety. I do wish that it wasn't all organized by gender (children's clothing is far too often gendered -- why not organize clothing by type instead? Dresses, skirts, pants, onesies, sleepers, shirts, etc. as separate sections within different sizes?). That said this location is so crowded with stuff that it's unlikely to be able to be reorganized. And it looked like they had had so many items sold to them that they weren't taking new items at the time that we shopped here. We'll definitely be back to further stock our house with items for our child. read more

Based on the description of a friend, I had a feeling I could be coming to Once Upon A Child a lot in the next few years, both to sell clothes and toys and to get good deals on gently used items. However, it's a long way from my home, and based upon my experience there, I may find it easier to buy and sell online. We'll see... I thought this location of Once Upon a Child had a decent selection of clothes for little ones, though their prices run about what new baby clothes cost in the States (four years after moving to Canada, I still experience sticker shock). I thought this location was nice, though the aisles are very narrow. Two individual people would have to negotiate passing each other. And if one has a stroller, the other simply cannot pass. As most customers are parents with babies or small children, there were many strollers in the store, thus at least a half dozen" traffic jams" in the 20 minutes I was there. The staff was not especially helpful until check-out. I had a few questions, but had to stand in the check-out line in order to get a staff member to talk with me. It would be nice if they had staff who circulated the store. read more

This store is expensive even though it's a used clothing store. You buy a onesie for 8.50$ that would have originally been 14$. The location in sherwood park is much cheaper and would recommend that location over this one. read more

I absolutely love this store, I had my baby 4 months ago and most of his clothes had come from this store! Great prices, selection & quality! Everything is pretty well brand new! The store itself I do find a little small, it can get a little tight to get around all the racks and especially if it's a bit busier. I like that you can sell back any gently used items such as clothing, swings, bumbo, tubs etc! They have a stamp card for every $10 that u spent, or sold to the store u get x amount of stamps when the card is filled up u can 20% off your next purchase! Seriously check it out, you won't be disappointed, with kids they grow out of things so quickly why not pay less for those clothes rather than spending more on brand new! read more

I want to rate this place negative stars. This location will buy gently used children's clothing. So I got there to bring my clothing and I was told they were full four times in a row. And the front lady was so rude when I asked some questions about when I should come so I could get my clothing reviewed. Also, this specific location only allows 2 bins of clothing maximum and I had three. So of course I was told I had to come back tomorrow for the third one. All other locations don't even have a limit. I would love to add that I spent two days going through the clothing to make sure they we're free of stains, rips's, old clothing styles and much more as well as folding them, categorizing them according to gender, and ironing them. These clothes were in impeccable condition and the majority of them still have tags on so you could imagine that I was very surprised when when they told me they only wanted two items items. One being a book and one pair of pants for four dollars in total. The two bins also looked like hadn't been gone through. I was really distraught by this because these clothes were in very good condition. In fact I sold them online and made much more than they would have sold each piece to me for. I would also like to say that their location is disgusting. It has this awful odour there and there is dirt and grime on the floor. It is very very dusty and there are almost no customers every time I go there, (which won't be anymore) but they still say that they are at capacity for clothing for each day which makes me drive all the way back to this location. So in conclusion I would not recommend this location at all.This service is disgusting, the building looks very dirty, and they won't buy your stuff no matter how new it is. I highly recommend going to the Sherwood Park location.Though it is far from my residence I know that it is owned by different people and they're more than welcoming and they always take time to greet you as well as offer assistance regardless of the time. I came 30 mins before closing and was still happily serviced and my 4 bins were checked and return in less than a half hour. The Sherwood Park store is very clean and they give you a proper amount of money and buy a proper amount of clothing according to what you give them instead of this place which I don't even think can be considered a sufficient business. GO TO THE SHERWOOD PARK LOCATION! OWNED BY DIFFERENT PEOPLE AND MUCH BETTER. read more

The staff are rude and seem to not care. Not a fan of the people that work at this location or the north location on St.Albert Trail. I've taken some clothes here and felt quite ripped off. They do not provide a breakdown of what they were giong to pay for each item, even though I took some high end brand names. the only reason I gave them two stars is because I like to shop here, just for the clothes I have gotten for my daughter. If could choose no stars, I would!! The women who work here are snooty and rude. I brought in some clothes to sell them, and was curtly informed that they had met their quota for the day as confirmed on the sign out front and I would have to come back another day. And no, they don't take appointments for drop off. The sign she was referring to is a small loose-leaf size tacked to the tinted door. No wonder I didn't see the thing!! As far as dropping off clothes, they require items to be sorted neatly. Fine, I completely understand this, but the least they could do is return the items they've deemed 'not worthy' of their 'high standards' in the same condition!! My rejected items were tossed and crumpled in the bins with complete lack of care. The prices in this store are ludicrous for used clothes/toys and a lot of the items they're selling are in worse shape than the items they rejected. I will never set foot in this place again. read more

My first experience selling to OUAC was a positive one, but I have a feeling they do that on purpose. My subsequent experiences selling to them were very negative. I would bring in a box of clean, barely used clothing and toys, and they would just take 1-2 items. I do not think they even looked through the box. I thought I spent a lot of time wasted cleaning, sorting, folding, and bringing it to their store. I was so annoyed after this happened several times that I decided that I would rather donate my items to goodwill than to waste my time. Unfortunately, it doesn't help that the staff there is rude. I really wished there were more alternatives. read more
