Website says " we buy all seasons, all day, everyday! No appointments needed. Get cash on the spot for everything we can accept. Literally this company does not do one of these things listed above! You need to call ahead to see if they can take you... Um that's an appointment. But it's not because it's first come first serve so if you pack up all these clothes and someone beats you there? Also you are limited to how much you can bring.. so if you have 3 totes and want to spend the day of their convenience, they say sorry we only take one. Need to be back that same day to pick up the money or it's store credit. Nope they can't figure out etransfer or really anything convenient. I was told at one location I could only bring one tote yet anything under 75$ is store credit.. absurd. Inconvenient. I'd rather donate these beautifully kept clothes and items to someone who needs it than get next to nothing and have to drive back and forth with the amount they can take that day, to have to be back in time to actually get the cash. While they are explaining the layers of inconvenience it is when you call in.. I wonder if they hear themselves. Hip hip hooray! Parents and Moms-to-be rejoice! A 3rd location for Once Upon a Child opened up last year - this time in Sherwood Park. I had a chance to run in here last month while my daughter was at ski lessons and what a treat! Books were on clearance for $1 that day! YES - $1 books! Came home with a giant bag filled with books to overfill our already filled bookshelves! But hey, since when could one have too many books? Once Upon a Child is HANDS DOWN the best consignment store chain for used children's clothing and accessories. I've frequented them in Edmonton for several years now and even visited one in Saskatoon! You can drop off your gently used clothing and toys to trade in for store credit if you'd like as well. They offer a frequent purchaser stamp card to earn discounts and usually have coupons in the SUTP coupon book. They are on facebook and have an e-mail list if you would like advance notice for upcoming sales and specials! They also carry new items like Melissa & Doug at prices below what you would find at Toys R Us. Once Upon A Child - Children's Clothing Near Me - Sherwood Park, Alberta

Oh gosh, I was pretty happy with this location as it is so large and well laid out! The non-clothing items are nearly hidden up high but there is such a great selection of everything else easily found at hand. I was really pleased with the quality and variety of baby moccasins/shoes when I stopped by recently as my infant needed new shoes for daycare but is not walking yet so doesn't need the more structured shoes that older kids require. Fortunately there were so many available in this infant's size and most had no signs of wear at all: in fact they looked brand new!I was really quite pleased. This location is quite convenient and I'm happy that they have plenty of what I was looking for at the time. Given the pandemic, I was surprised that so many employees were working behind the counter. We quickly signed up for their loyalty program and were able to inquire about what they're currently accepting (apparently they accept a limited amount of clothing for the wee infants and that's understandable as those clothes tend not to get as worn), but I look forward to eventually bringing in some of our outgrown baby clothing/items and definitely look forward to purchasing other things as our child gets older. read more

I do not have children myself but with that being said I do occasionally find myself in stores like these when a close friend or family member is expecting to see if I can pick up anything to help them with their new bundles of joy. This one located in Sherwood Park is quite possibly one of the nicest I have been in so far. All the racks are pretty full and you can see the staff makes a real effort to not only size but color block the clothes as well. While I did not see a ton of brand names I did however find alot of stuff on the racks that looked to have only been worn a few times. I feel quite confident in saying if you dressed your child in only clothes from this store nobody would be able to tell you had been shopping second hand. They also carry toys and books here as well. I was pretty impressed with how cheap the books were and was able to pick up a couple of Skylanders books for $1.50 a piece. There also seems to be a high standard for what they will accept for toys so you wont have to worry that your child is going to be begging to take home any worn or half broken pieces of junk you will just end up throwing out in a week. While on the subject of the toys however that brings me to the first of my two issues with the place. Located in the toy area are several signs asking children not to play with the toys and to instead play with the toys in the play area. Upon checking out the play area however I noticed there was only a few toys in it and they all appeared to be quite worn. With all those new toys they get coming in I would think it would be no problem to put some new stuff in there that would actually make the children want to stay playing there. My second issue with this place is the size. If there is a mother with a stroller standing in the middle of an isle you want to walk down be prepared to wait as it is incredibly difficult to move past people due to the size of the store. It is just way too small in here for all the racks and shelving units they have. With all that being said however this is still in my opinion one of the nicest and most reasonably priced children's stores in Edmonton and area and you should definitely check it out if you happen to be in Sherwood Park. read more

I was thoroughly unimpressed with this location. I regularly shop at the once upon a child just south of the Whitemud and it is far superior. I was so excited walking in because they had such a big location to house lots of used children's goodies! Turns out it just means they can be non-discriminatory in taking consignment items. There was a lot of really over worn and over washed items. I was looking at a little girls 0 to 3 month bunting suit from The Gap. They had it marked at $35! You could get a brand new one for close to that price, particularly if you shop the sales. There was also an incredibly dirty Graco stroller that had leaves and mud on the seat that they were selling. The other locations in the city have great 10 item for $10 bins which you can find some awesome stuff in. I left this location without purchasing anything and the feeling of needing to wash my hands. Made a special trip from Edmonton to check it out and was really disappointed. Don't waste your time. read more

This location is substantially nicer than the Christy's Corner location. Washrooms are very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The floors are hard (they look like wood, but are probably laminate) and the store doesn't smell musty - which is a feat for a storefront packed with used bargain merchandise. I do love shopping here, although I do often come across clothes that are priced too high for the condition that the item is in (I just choose to not purchase those items). I have tried to sell here once, but the amount that they offer for almost new clothes, is far too little, in fact almost insulting. Not to mention they seem to be extremely picky for some people, but will take just about anything from others. Some of my items were slightly wrinkled, and were refused, but yet shopping I have found items on the racks with holes, stains and broken zippers. Their consistency needs to be worked on. read more

Best OUAC! I've been to all the Edmonton stores (sold and shopped with) and have had unpleasant experiences more than 50% of the times I would go. Rude, inappropriate, unhelpful employees, clothing for sale at price's 5x higher than the original cost in one incident. Mishandling of sellers items and even talking horribly, for the whole store to hear about a customer who had just left.All around unprofessional! When OUAC opened in Sherwood Park I didn't expect it to be any better but they surprised me! It's been nothing but the exact opposite of the other OUAC's. Shopping is easy and affordable and they have done a great job at staying as organized as possible with the given amount of space they have to work with. Every time here has been pleasant and relaxed! One negative is the selling sometimes. I've never felt ripped off selling my stuff except the last time I went it...approx 10 pairs shoes, still good condition of course, not outdated, etc... They offered $20. It was my decision in the end to sell them but I couldn't help feeling ripped off. One of the 10 pairs alone were boys Adidas high tops purchased the previous year and only worn a few times, indoors only. I paid $60...they offered $1.60 ! So I don't think I will waste my time selling their anymore though unfortunately. Parking is only a few spaces in an awkward parking lot with high traffic so go slow and be extra cautious. I've never had a problem parking even with the only couple spots as people are usually in and out fast enough. read more

I love this location! The staff are friendly and so helpful. They really take their time to make sure everything is awesome! Even though they passed on some of my items I didn't feel annoyed or upset. They explained the process easily with me and I even made $ after I bought stuff. The store is organized so that you can find things easily, and it is kept very clean. I will definitely make the drive to come here. read more

This location is terrible! On 3 separate occasions in one month I took a bin of clothes into the store and was promptly turned away, saying they were no longer accepting clothes for the day and to try again tomorrow. I have come to realize that it is no longer worth my time selling or buying from here. Also, on 2 other occasions they had advertised a "fill a bag for $15". I went in, hoping to get some clothes for my 4 year old and 9 year old. They said only certain items were accepted in the bags, that have a special tag. I searched the racks, and not one item of clothing was acceptable in size 4, 5, or 12 in the girls section. Once again, a huge waste of time. This is a big surprise to me, since this store is harshly over crammed with items, and nearly impossible to try to find or look at things on the racks without knocking 4 other items off. It's cramped, hot and totally disorganized. Their problem I guess. They might want to find a larger store. Ill never go back, even if they do. read more

I had a few bags of my daughters baby clothing that I had brought to this location. The staff were all very friendly and polite. The store was quite busy as it was a Saturday. When I had initially brought my things in, I wasn't informed of the sorting process, especially regarding the wait time. After two and a half hours, and going into almost every other store in the strip mall besides the liquor store next door, I went back in to ouac and was told they were just about finished with my things. At the end of everything, they had only taken about a third of what I brought in (which was fine by me, I understand that not every piece was what they needed, and I am used to donating our clothes anyway this was the first time actually selling them) but they did pass on some really good items because they weren't in need of them at the moment. I got around $80 for a bin of clothes and a bouncer. But after browsing the store and seeing the prices of some of the items, it's easy to see where this store makes its profits. Some of the clothes were priced ridiculously high. I mean you could go to Walmart and buy the same items brand new for the same prices. It's a little heart wrenching as I realize someone in a bind or with a lower income would really value these items, and they come to buy used in order to budget, without realizing they are paying into the cost of the store. Also, how they conclude the value of items that people are selling to them seems to be a little scattered. All in all it was a decent first time experience, however it does seem like a better place to bring things such as high chairs and strollers versus clothing, as somewhere like Salvation Army and its patrons would probably benefit more from clothing. read more
