GOOD PLACE TO BUY USED ITEMS. NOT A GOOD PLACE TO SELL YOUR STUFF. I waited for over 4 hours to get my stuff priced (they said they had a new computer system). I was devastated when I only got $22 for a large box full of brand-name stuff in new condition. The money I got averaged out to less than $1 per item!!! You're better off at a consignment store where they give you 50% of what they sell the items for. If you have the energy, use Craig's List or have a garage sale. read more

While I understand it is still a store that resells used items it IS a consignment shop and not a goodwill/thrift store. An hour processing time and I left with half my items. I was offered $14 for a $129 Exersaucer that was 2 years old and like new - as my child spent a majority of her day in daycare.. Ditto for a $100 Graco foldable highchair... $14. Please know you do NOT have to accept their first offer on items such as this. They went online to check current prices and came up to $20 for each but I chose to take the items back. Would rather donate than take $40 from them and have them clear a large profit for themselves. The woman in front of me sold them her high end modern styled wood highchair. They gave her $40 and put a $100 sticker on it when she left. But they claim they are giving you 50% of the price they expect to get for the item! She also sold them around 25 brand new toy hobby horses (you know, a stick with a horse head on the top?) - 30 cents each to the seller and they labeled them $1.50! In the end if you just want to sell some like new clothes and/or toys for a few bucks - go for it. For me the $30 to lug the stuff down there and wait an hour for them to check every piece and unscrew each battery pack is just not worth it. Lesson Learned. Also, FYI - in case you are thinking of hauling a bunch of stuff, here is what they turned down while I was there: a stroller that was more than 3 years old; a stroller that had a recall (I know the stroller and the recall was for simple strap to cover a 'pinch point' for a childs finder), a bundle me for a car seat (like new), a baby carrier, lots of clothes if not like new and higher end labeled; a phil & ted portable high chair seat that straps to a table.... read more

This is an excellent store for purchasing! And thank you to those who do sell their items here, making it possible for the purchasers to buy them. Personally, I would not sell items here, as they don't give you top dollar for them. I have shopped here for more than 10 years and consider it a hidden gem! First let me start by saying the idea of the store is great because so many people have baby items that they want to get rid of. With that being said the store is a total disappointment ; the staff are nasty and they refused to take anything that's not in almost new condition. everything I brought in was almost brand-new and they refused to take all of it, even though all of my items had all the pieces, clothes were freshly washed with no stains or any signs of wear. The store is a thrift store so the premise and purpose is that kid items are gently used-however they expect you to bring in brand-new items and won't take anything unless they are almost new, which defeats the purpose and premise of the store. I brought in shoes that had only been worn once and feet pjs that had only been worn twice and the woman refused to take them. She tried to point out signs of wear and couldn't but still lied to my face and said they were used- OF COURSE THEY WERE USED! They sell used baby items! And there are absolutely NO stains allowed on anything you try to bring in. I don't know any parent in the face of the earth who doesn't have any stains on their children's items. I haven't had any issues with this location. I think they get a lot of slack from customers coming in and becoming offended if they don't buy back their products. ( some of the customers are abusive to the point they have tried to force them to buy products which hey .. That would drive me crazy to ) also the people who say "the workers do not look at the clothes ".. Are you kidding me ?? Trust me they eyeball every inch of the item you are presenting. I really do make $$ here everytime I bring in clothes. I have never personally had issues. The only thing I have seen is their prices have gone up and I have been buying less. However there are still some awesome deals if you look hard! read more

I understand both positive and negative reviews. Definitely good stuff for good prices. I never tried to sell our old stuff to them because the staff does seem unfriendly as if you are bothering them, but hey customer service is NOT EASY. I totally get that. I understand the staff turning away items to ensure the quality of their product. Unfortunately, I kind of got the feeling I was bothering them even when trying to make a purchase. I have been to the store to both sell and buy. The times I have been there to buy things there is little to no help finding anything you need, and the times that I have been there to sell they have rejected over 75% of the items that I bring in (needless to say they are in it next to new condition) im not saying the things that i bring in are completely new but they generally used, and can still be made a profit off of. Really brings me to writing this review today is the fact that yesterday I put in about six brand new toys. Retail wise they would have gone for about $45 to $60. But like usual once upon.a.child Cheapskate in me and only $15 and rejected everything else the returning to the store to buy or sell anything. the woman who seems to run the place has zero charm. she literally did not respond last time i walked in and said "good morning." however, this is a good place to buy pre-owned clothing. if you have time and patience, you'll likely find something(s) cute and affordable. my advice: only sell items that you're okay to part with - because you will not get a lot of money for it. sell the toys that you're tired of tripping over - and the clothing that does not hold any sentimental meaning. recommend. read more

Don't bring many items to sell at one time. Staff is lazy and will turn all your items away just because they don't want to take the time to search through it all. One the upside, the selection they carry is decent. read more

I am reviewing as a consumer and not as a seller. The store is well organized and easy to find the particular size clothing and items you are looking for. On my first visit I purchased two pairs of sandals (one of them a high quality brand) and almost 20 articles of clothing. The clothing ranged from $1.50 to $6.50 (shorts and shirts to a special occasion dress). The sandals I purchased were $5.50 and $8.50. Loved my experience there. The one in Staten Island is the worst place ever, i wouldn't recommend it to anyone, i took my euc and brand new kids clothes to sell them and they picked only the new stuff paid me 5 dollars in total for 5 pieces of 3 brand new pants, costumes and boots and said they are very"picky" they even took a couple of ribbon shoe laces from my daughter's shoes without paying, they were rude to us, my daughter liked a doll house and when we asked they said it was sold, then we were leaving we heard someone else asking for it and getting a price right away, my neighbor recently bought a jacket for his son and told me that when she got home to wash it, it was full of cat hair even in the pockets, the sales people is nasty and rude and they should care more about the products they sell.. read more

I will never go to this place again, horrible. The women who work there are very nasty. Also, there expectations on the stuff they buy are RIDICULOUS! I have been to Once Upon a Child two times. Once last summer to sell some excellent baby clothes. Their scrutiny and standards are ridiculous and we wound up getting something like $4.32 for a bag of clothes. They would not take a beautiful stroller due to some "rust" that I could not see. They were not friendly, helpful or kind. The second time I went was today to buy several items. Again, the young girl came up to the counter after stuffing a donut into her mouth. Chewing and not making eye contact I asked if they had any more strollers than what was displayed. She asked me to repeat myself so I did, very slowly and trying to get the point across that SHE was being very rude. She then gave me a dirty look. When I asked if they took debit cards she nodded, even though I was looking down so I made her repeat herself. She was obnoxious and this is a store that really doesn't care about its customers. They are miserable and regardless of the great deal I got (2 pairs of boys shorts and a t-shirt for $11) I left angry and feeling ripped off. I actually said to her as I walked out "You need to learn a few things about customer service kiddo.) They're running a racket and have no communication skills. read more
