Decided to try and sell some larger baby items at this place and it didn't leave a great impression. The staff was rude and acted annoyed when I came in to have them review my items. Not sure what the problem was considering that's the business they're in. I walked the aisles to kill time but didn't find any amazing deals or products. I have mixed feelings about this place and the customer service, I've sold my kids stuff here twice been here about 3 times I believe, when I went in Wednesday night it was a little awkward, the two employees just looked at me didn't say anything and I had to say something first. Next day I called to see if my items were looked over and the lady responds back saying "well did we call you? " and I go In yesterday to get my items back they weren't going to buy and I take a toy and had TWO spots that were dirty and she said that I would have to bring it back after I disinfect it! Like come on! You can't just give me a wipe! Lady's are kinda rude there unfortunately but they give you good money back for items you sell to them just make her NO STAINS AND DISINFECT YOUR TOYS well :) read more

Stopped in today for the first time to check out the other locally owned franchise of Once Upon A Child. I generally go over to the N. Side locale but in the interest of keeping Yelp reviews current around here I thought I'd go to this one. It's pretty far out on Sprague from my house so I was bummed when they were on a hiatus from taking consignment items. I had all my bags of clothes in the car, and I was excited to accomplish a simple task. (And get some credit to upgrade for more kid's clothes!). Anyways, if you want a good laugh you can stand outside of this store and watch individuals try to bring in items while juggling kids. Pro tip: Call ahead. As a Child's Consignment Clothing Bringer Failure, I didn't call ahead, and I should have called ahead, because they have a "pause" on taking consignment for now. Disappointment! Probably gobs of the families are bringing in clothes now due to the weather changes, but I think why not just take the clothes if someone is there? I'm fine with a long wait. Anyways, they did have a sign about accepting larger items, and the staff person was really accommodating and amazing about taking a look at my larger items right away when I casually mentioned that I had them in my car. They did end up accepting one item and giving me a dollar amount that I was really happy with. Of course I went ahead and spent it right away on Thomas the Train toys. Their toys are so nicely organized- I could really find exactly what my child was into, and I loved that fact! I'm sure these stores are really variable based on what they have in stock, but I felt like their clothes selection, especially pajamas, was really spare, so hopefully people bring in their jammies! They did have some very rad winter snowsuits, but the super cute ones were running up to $30, so watch your sales and new might be cheaper. They have the same "child corral" area like the N. Side location, and my kiddo was pumped about that! Also, I have to mention that the staff, once they saw how badly I was at juggling kids and carrying items, compassionately helped me to my car on the way out. Five stars for the humanity! Hands down the best children's consignment shop in the greater Spokane area. They are meticulous about the items they re-sell so you can be assured that when you're hunting the racks you will only find high-quality, well taken care of garments. Their prices are great and the shop is clean, tidy and always has a great selection. Plus, I've sold stuff to them and feel they give you a fair price and don't box you in by only giving top dollar if you keep your money in-store. They pay you cash right then and there. Best thrift shop I've ever been to. Organized extremely well so everything is easy to find. Everything is clean and nothin is missing prices. Little bit more expensive than some but saved a ton of time driving around looking so that's worth my time. I can go into this shop and get everything I need for the kids in about 45 minutes, instead of driving around to thrift stores sorting through smelly old clothes. After hearing about some negative experiences, I was nervous to bring my son's items to Once Upon a Child. I am so glad that I did! The ladies working were kind, efficient, and patiently explained why they couldn't take some of the things I brought in. They even donated the rest for me! The layout of the store is great. I wish I could give this company zero stars. I paid for my transaction and left. I checked my bank the next say and had been charged twice. I called to discuss the issue and have it fix. I was told without a receipt that it was something they were unwilling to fix for me, even with me willing to show them my bank statement. The lady went on to blame the mistake on my bank for double charing me in their favor and continue to refuse to fix the issue. BEWARE apparently this established is just fine with keeping money that isn't theirs. read more

Out of all the second hand stores I've shopped for my son I will say this one is the most organized. When you have an unruly toddler and only have a few minutes this is the place to go! It's easy to find the right size and right clothing item. The shelves are large and easy to navigate. The clothes aren't so crammed in that you can't see the shirts you're looking at. I have consigned here as well and I really appreciate that they offer cash as well as a store credit option. They pay pretty darn well for toys as long as they're in good condition and clean. Clothes are hit and miss, but as I said above their shelves aren't too crowded so I can understand why sometimes they turn down clothes. And I've always been satisfied with the process of consigning there. When they aren't busy they give you a good estimate on wait time, when they are busy they always have them done the next morning. Dropping consignment off there is much more streamlined than some of the other stores, and you don't need an appointment. And their stamp card words for consignments AND purchases. I know that they also check recall lists often, at least according to their advertisements, so I feel a bit safer buying used toys there. Sometimes the pricing is a bit steep, but clearly they have a larger space to pay for and take good care of the items in the store. The employees are always kind but I can't say I've seen one often enough to actually know any names. The parking isn't great. And near the door is a bit crowded sometimes. But otherwise we'll continue to be back. read more

I dropped off 5 boxes of clothes to this store, as I had shopped here for years and thought I'd be able to get a fair deal on the TONS I was dropping off. I was contacted this morning, telling me they would not buy ANY of them, as they looked unwashed. I had washed every single item, and boxed them right away. They were stored for 2 weeks in my garage. When I went to go pick them up, the woman who "helped" me said that there were spiders and webs everywhere, and that they smelled, all while looking down on me like I was trash. I have seen dirty toys and clothes there before. When I explained it all to this woman, she only responded judgmentally with "Well, it's our policy". When I told her I would not be coming back she replied with "Good. Whatever". I absolutely will never shop where I am judged and treated like that. HORRIBLE customer service. read more

They were extremely rude to my husband. We were cleaning and found stuff and we thought we would see if they could take, and when they said no they were just really rude about it. We don't even mind that they said no, it just went to goodwill, but it's really frustrating and upsetting how rude they were. I wasn't very happy. I'm in between jobs right now and really depended on trading my baby's clothes she grew out of, for the ones there. Lots of my clothes still had the price tags on them and they either didn't take them, or gave me next to nothing to put towards the new clothes. I just noticed that some of the babies clothes they have there were very worn down and had stains on them, but they refused brand new clothes with the price tag on them. So I felt I was very ripped off. I know everyone else has great things to say about them. But I definitely wouldn't depend on them when in a hard spot. read more

BEWARE of bringing clothes here for consignment. I dropped a bag of like new clothes off a week ago and was told it would take a week and a half to process them (that should have been my first clue not to leave my stuff there). Got a call a week later saying they could only pay me $7 for my bag of clothes because they weren't taking girls' spring and summer clothes (which my bag mainly consisted of). They didn't tell me that when I left my clothes, or I wouldn't have bothered dropping them off. The worst part was, I was delayed by half a day in picking up my clothes because my dog had emergency surgery, and they had already "donated" them by the time I arrived. When I asked them why they didn't tell me they weren't taking girls' spring and summer clothes when I dropped mine off they said they had "just changed" the policy (mind you I did not receive a phone call to that affect, and there weren't any signs posted indicating that). When I questioned whether my new clothes had really been donated, they insisted they were because "we have so many clothes, we even had to close a bathroom because we have them piled in there, so why would we really not have donated them?" Well, if that's the case, why are they even continuing to take items in for trade and/or consignment? Definitely an unprofessional, disappointing, and sketchy experience. Terrible people. Went to sell an almost brand new swing. Perfect working order and new condition. The staff informed us that the swing smell like cigarette smoke. Funny thing is no one in the house smokes. We are allergic to cigarette smoke. The swing has never been exposed to smoke of any kind. We washed the swing with Dreft and then put in under cover for storage. The staff is unprofessional and in need of smell training. Will not recomend them to anyone. read more

They have a very decent, organized selection, though a little overpriced. I think it's a great store. But I will never go back. So many mom's in my area agree these people are the rudest and have terrible customer service. I used to work retail so I am patient and understanding, and I feel like I am very polite. But they act as if they are annoyed they have to check me out or buy my items, like I'm bothering them to do their job. The last time I shopped there they argued with me for fifteen minutes saying I wasn't in their system for selling items. I've sold there every time I visited, I have receipts and everything. They kept saying I was mistaken and probably went to another store, and every time I sad no it was this store they rolled their eyes at me and said you're in not in the system so clearly, not. So I just stood there and said, so you're saying I can't sell today??? And the lady sighed and said, and I'm quoting here, "Fine. But I have to add you now which takes forever. " I wanted to just say FORGET IT if it's SO DIFFICULT. I didn't realize I was being such a pain to be giving your business my items to sell and buying your products. When I spoke about this to my other mom friends in the area, they knew exactly the place I was talking about before I even told them the name. Don't waste your time here. read more

I love the variety and amount of clothing they sell in the store, and they usually give a pretty good price for the things you sell to them, but I feel that I have to time my visit right, because the last time I took some boxes of clothes in, they were all rejected due to "wearing and staining". Some of the clothing I brought in were new with tags, and two of my boxes were CLEARLY not even opened and inspected! I'll keep going because of the amazing prices, but I don't think I'll bring anymore clothes here to sell. read more
