The only glaring issue with this place is the number of people who workout and walk around the entire time barefoot or in socks! Being a fanatic of all things ClassPass I was excited to use my points for a thirty minute Tabata class at One Boulder Fitness. As I hadn't been into the building for awhile I requested some directional help from the gent at the main desk (there are many offices and businesses at this location). Down the hall I went, and then down the stairs. After checking in with the gym's front desk (lots of good coupons, snacks, and updates are posted here) I made my way to the locker room to stow my goods (tip: bring your own lock), get my ponytail secured in and do a little weigh in. I was a little taken aback by the nudity in the locker room, but I think it's mostly because the studios I frequent are not full service facilities so there aren't that many shower goers. The class itself was held in a small studio with one wall of mirrors and a bench to safely stow our water bottles. Over the course of the warm up a few more people rolled in (we were about ten in all). The class offered a variety of strength and cardiopulmonary activities - all shown with options to turn it up or down a notch. The music was upbeat (not too loud, not too quiet) and the leadership was spectacular. This was my first class with Jessica. She oozes cool and is unapologetically herself (someone I strive to be more like). She is fun, radiant, approachable, and encouraging all at the same time. While the space for the class felt a little on the cramped side I will definitely be back to check out more of Jessica's offerings. read more

was a member here for a very short period of time. $85 a month (month to month) which is super pricey. it is the smallest gym i have ever been apart of. the crowd is quite older. overall just a very small space that gets very crowded before and after work where you are literally running into people as there is not enough space. all the classes are also extra on top of the membership. decent cardio area (just super tiny) think hotel gym size. weight area doesn't have your regular machines other gyms have. I ended up canceling my membership and got the wrong email from an employee which delayed my cancellation by a whole month. couple of the front desk employees are not friendly and very negative and seem to not enjoy living or being in boulder -which is my home and i do not appreciate the attitude. a lot of showers with no hot water. no hot tub just a cold tub. with lifetime opening soon here in boulder not worth the $85 a month I would say it's worth $45 a month at the most. read more

Andre at the front desk was so friendly and inviting and even offered us our first visit for free. I started here in April, and the club was great. It was kinda small, but worked. My only complaints then was that I wished it was open later. In August, they moved the club from having an upstairs and a basement (yoga studio and locker rooms) and having many different types of fitness classes to cramming everything (yes, everything) into the tiny basement. Now, there is literally no room for anything. I feel as though they crammed a few machines into a closet. It sucks. They also took away all of the fitness classes and left only yoga (also a very small studio). I was so disappointed, and they wouldn't let me out of my contract even though they severely LACKED on providing the club I had originally liked. Don't waste your money here. If you want to be crammed together in a tiny space with other sweating people, join a cult. One star for the great locker facilities and another for the yoga. I expect this place to go out of business in less than six months. But if you have a contract that extends past when they go out of business, I'm sure they'll still charge your credit card for your monthly amount even though you don't get to use any gym. read more

I am currently a member of this gym because of its proximity to my house, I can walk there which makes it easy. So location is a plus. My experience with the staff has been great overall. I have dealt with Jen in the past regarding a billing issue and she was awesome and accommodating. The front desk staff are college aged and don't always give correct information (but they are friendly) so if you have questions about anything, definitely talk to a manager. This is not a pretentious gym, and I value that in a city like Boulder where fitness is such a big industry. If you don't work out or are a beginner, you could go here and not feel intimidated or overwhelmed. Its not busy when I go, and as a female I was able to go into the weight room for the first time ever without feeling out of place. With that said, I feel the weight room has room for more equipment as there is a lot of walking/stretching room (which you could do in their studio room). They really do need some sort of ab machine (they only have incline benches you can use at an angle to do situps), an abductor machine and something for glutes. They have equipment for you to get creative like cables, trx and bosu balls, but sometimes you just want to go on a machine and crank reps out and go. And they have the room so it just feels like untapped potential. My other issue is that they are only open until 6 on the weekends which is a bummer. If they were open until 8, I would be there now working out and not writing this stupid review so its kind of a pain. I just don't understand that. Also, as others have mentioned, its in a basement. If there was windows it would really change the atmosphere. Instead I run in a room thats painted blue and gets no airflow so its not ideal. It could be made to feel brighter and more open, despite being in a basement. Also, if you look at the ceiling, its super weird popcorny with like exposed insulation. I just think of how much dust that collects and how much I am breathing in while running. That part really gets me. It just doesn't look clean (because its not) and is another thing that I don't really understand. Overall, for me to have a gym I can walk to, I am currently willing to overlook the things that bug me and focus on the positive. But who knows how long that will last. Check it out at least and see for yourself, especially if you are a beginner. read more

My favorite pose from this class was the Happy Baby... This is where you lay on your back with your feet in the air. You grab your toes with your hands and bend your knees towards you like a baby. Then what you do is rock and you can't help but to feel like a baby who is about to get their diaper changed... Or maybe that was just me, but this pose still made me laugh. One Boulder Fitness is a full out gym, but I have only attended yoga classes there on the weekdays, using the class as my lunch break Zen. Shawna is a great instructor and her sooooooooft, and soooooothing vooooooice will hypnotize you into full yoga meditation. I like that I can take a break from the stress of work and come to a place where I know I will not only get a nice workout for my body, but for my crowded head as well. The price of one class is steep, and unlike other studios, this studio is situated in a fitness facility, so if you are not a member, it is going to cost you a whopping $15 a visit (Because this allows you access to the workout room and facilities as well). The class is great, but not technically affordable. The parking is also a hassle. This studio is in a prime location, right near the strip of Pearl street, but this limits parking. There is a parking garage right next door, but by the time you leave the office, drive to the studio, pay for parking and then pay for class, you have already wasted a good 15-20 minutes of your lunch. Strategy: Lunch time Zen is great, but commuting and going broke for it is not. Opt for a close facility or go after work when you have more time. * Star uno is awarded to One Boulder Fitness for its huge array of yoga classes... The gym is just fine, however they don't respect their customers. I was charged an extra month's membership dues after giving 5 days cancellation notice in person at their downtown location and was assured by their staff that my card wouldn't be charged for the next month. However, they charged my card anyways and emailed me later citing a 30 day written notice cancellation policy which is valid, yet a generally poor and disrespectful business policy. While I would have come back to the gym in the future, and even referred future business their way, their approach to handling this issue shows me they don't respect their members as people and only focus on squeezing out every dollar from each member while they can. My hope in leaving this review is to encourage ONE Boulder Fitness to update their policies to view customers less as an opportunity to squeeze out every cent possible, and more as respected, intelligent individuals. read more

I love working out here. It's close to where I work and it's usually not too crowded. It also has pretty much all the equipment that I need for a quick workout. On the downside, the small space means that it's quick to fill up, so make sure you're not going during rush hour. All in all this place is fantastic. I'll post a review coming from a slightly different angle than the other two. I was surprised to only see two reviews of this place. Don't care about yoga classes, or spinning? Look no further, this is a great gym all-around. Awesome free weights and weight machines, the free weights go up to at least 80 or 90....I don't use more than 60 most of the time but I noticed I was somewhere in the middle. Yes, they have a Smith machine. I think two, actually. Ample benches for free weights. Plenty of cardio equipment, all new and higher quality than some other places. Very few students, and mostly people who are there to actually work out and now check out the opposite sex (ahem, 24 hour, ahem). I visited on a temporary pass and encountered no sales pressure whatsoever. No personal trainers coming and asking if I wanted to buy sessions. Thank you! (again, 24 hour is guilty as well). Nice protein bar, very nice showers with soaps, shaving cream, towel service, and coed spa (steam, sauna, and hot tub). Parking seems like it is easy and it is now validated for TWO hours, although I didn't need to use it this time. I will probably be joining this gym. It's not as convenient for me as 24 hour location-wise, and it is a little pricier, but to me, this place is kind of like the local grocery store to 24-Hour's Wal-Mart. read more

The gym and locker room area are always clean and the staff is always incredibly upbeat and happy to help whenever possible. The gym never feels packed regardless of the time of day, but you will see more folks working out in the mornings and early evenings. I wish I read all the reviews before joining this gym. Great location tho , and very nice fitting rooms, personal are very nice except for the manager. However, it is in a basement and having no windows was depressing plus is VERY small and has very few machines ( the basics). No hip-abduction machine, which was huge for me. I pay $ 80 month and doesn't include internet !!. I just didn't enjoy it all. I ended up using more my husbands gym. I don't think they offer enough for what they charge. read more

I've been there from the start. It's the perfect gym for me - lots of serious people of all athletic persuasions training, but no attitude. The staff are, without exception, friendly and professional. As for no windows (mentioned in a review below), I thought at first that might bother me, but I actually like it. Keeps me focused on what I'm there for. And it's very clean. The only $-related interaction I've had (other than paying my dues, which seem reasonable) was freezing a membership for a few months - and that went smoothly. I think this is a great Boulder gym. I was a member at OBF for years before prematurely canceling my membership during some changes at the gym and moving to CAC, which I despised. The attitude in OBF is friendly and helpful, equipment is well maintained and clean. Yoga classes are included and frequent to accommodate everyone's schedule. Small group training classes are great for anyone whether you're in great shape and wanting to add something new to your regimen or trying to get in shape for the first time! Karie Kerner is a wonderful trainer, and by far the most educated and passionate trainer I have ever had. It's a treat to train with her. OBF does have a smaller cardio room than CAC, for instance, but there aren't kids and Tweens bogarting machines. I have never had an issue getting a machine I wanted within ten minutes (at the most) wait time. 2 hrs validated parking is great and the location is awesome. Reasonable price point also. Overall, if you're looking for a welcoming, clean gym without pretension, OBF is the way to go. read more

A great gym to pop into for a mid-day workout break from work! Friendly, spirited staff. Clean facilities, music not too loud, so you can still hear your own through your headphones if you prefer to listen to your own. Nice, clean, inviting locker rooms. My only criticism is that one elliptical machine doesn't work quite right, and I noticed that despite giving my feedback that this was the case, it was not fixed. This gym has excellent trainers with advanced skills. My husband was recovering from a knee injury (while on business in Boulder) and and signed up to work out with one of the gym's trainers. After several months he basically has a new leg. We are very pleased and would recommend the facility to all ages. read more

I went to a class at this gym through Class Pass. It was a great experience all around. I was greeted with incredibly friendly (not over-the-top) people. I just really liked the whole vibe of the gym. I go to the YMCA because I get a big discount for being a teacher, but I will definitely continue to go to fitness classes here. The teacher, Sasha, was one of the best, most motivating and genuine instructors I have had (and I have experienced many instructors since starting class pass). Also, I didn't have time to lock my bike up at a proper bike rack, and someone at the front desk took my keys and moved the bike into the complex bike rack so that I didn't miss any class (I think this may have been a manager/owner but I am not sure). The other guy in my class said he had been a member since 2006 and it was an awesome gym and was talking about how great the new manager is. It is really in the perfect location if you live or work near downtown Boulder. The whole place just had a great ambiance. I will definitely be back! read more

I was a member at this gym for about a year. I loved the fitness and yoga classes, specifically Michelle's spinning class and Ani and Rash's yoga classes. Michelle is a wonderful teacher. She is energetic and has a great selection of music to really get you going. It was held on Friday evenings and I found it to be a great way to begin my weekend. Ani's yoga class is amazing! It was held on Monday evenings and I found it to be the perfect way for me to unwind after work. She is not only a lovely teacher, but person as well. She brings a beautiful energy to her practice and the minute you walk inside the door, you instantly feel relaxed and leave the room rejuvenated. She always stayed after the class to help in any way she could. This was a hot yoga class by the way. Raj is another wonderful teacher. I found his class to be a bit more challenging than the others, but always a great challenge (lots of inversions, like headstands, handstands, etc.). Raj also teaches at Core Power and Prana as well. I took his partner yoga workshop and it was a lot of fun. I would highly recommend it. I also really loved the facilities at this gym. The locker rooms were always very clean and the Steam room w/an inviting eucalyptus aroma and jacuzzi were very inviting (especially in the cold winter months). I however was not pleased that they went from having many different types of fitness classes to removing all of them at once (with the exception of the yoga classes). I was going to be relocating a few months later, so ended up canceling my membership, but most likely would have done so regardless even if I wasn't moving due to the gym not agreeing to charge less for membership even though they didn't include any of the fitness classes no longer. I was also not happy that there was no given notice for this change. Overall, I had a positive experience as a member, however if I were still living in Boulder, I think I would have ended up canceling due to the lack of fitness classes and just joined a yoga studio instead. read more

This gym is the equivalent of a shady snake oil salesman trying to drip every dollar and cent out of you as humanly possible. The staff have always been friendly but several months ago I tried to cancel my membership via a call and in person visit. At the time I received assurances that everything would be okay and did not put the cancellation in writing. After seeing that I was still being charged, I changed my credit card hoping that would resolve the issue. Several months later i revisit hoping to restart my membership. They inform me that I have an almost 500 dollar past due balance. Showing them that I havnt made a single visit to the gym and explaining my situation to them made literally no difference. This place has ZERO customer service and obviously doesn't give a care in the world about their members. I am contacting an attorney to assist me in dealing with these snakes. I highly recommend you find another establishment to do business with because one discrepancy you have with your bill and you will be met with denial and shift of responsibility from the establishment to the customer! One of the things I've enjoyed most about this club is functional fitness classes and the knowledgeable and friendly trainers who always seem to have ideas on how to keep your fitness routines from becoming monotonous.
