I completely agree with many of the concerns expressed in other reviews (Tracy H.) regarding how this gym is run. Employees are often gathered behind the front desk chatting among themselves, while equipment sits dirty or broken. Many of the TVs seem to be set to the same channels day after day, creating the impression that little attention is paid to the member experience. I once asked if a TV channel could be changed while I was working out. The employee I spoke with not only didn't know how to do it, but also seemed to have little interest in problem solving himself or finding someone who did. It was a small request, but it reflected a larger lack of engagement and customer service...and work ethic To be fair, there were some positives. I worked with a personal trainer for a few months and had a very good experience. The trainer was professional, knowledgeable, and one of the highlights of my membership. Unfortunately, my biggest frustration has been with customer service and communication. Crunch still owes me money, and despite multiple emails and attempts to resolve the issue, I have received little to no response. I have spent far too much time and energy trying to recover funds that should have been returned long ago. The lack of communication, follow-through, and accountability has been extremely disappointing. I had considered rejoining when I return to Boulder this August, but this experience has left me questioning whether member loyalty and customer satisfaction are truly valued. Problems happen in any business, but ignoring customers when those problems arise is what ultimately damages trust. I have also attempted to contact Crunch corporate for assistance. Unfortunately, the phone number provided directs callers to a message stating that it is not monitored. Combined with the lack of response from the local club, this has left me with no clear avenue for resolving what should be a straightforward customer service issue. I originally joined just to have access to a treadmill during the winter and chose the highest membership mainly because I enjoy the massage beds. Unfortunately, I've been a bit disappointed overall. When you first walk in, there are usually several staff members at the front desk. The staff I've interacted with are always polite and helpful when they notice you, though they often appear to be chatting among themselves or on their phones. My main concerns are with the facilities. Most of the TVs are usually set to the same sports channel showing the same game. Occasionally one is on the news without subtitles, and another often seems stuck on the same Bob Ross rerun. Many of the treadmills are frequently out of order, which can be frustrating. As for the massage beds, only one or two are usually working, and even then the pressure is sometimes very weak. I've also noticed that many members don't wipe down equipment after use. It would be helpful if staff could gently remind people of this. Because of these issues, I plan to downgrade to the $10/month membership, as the higher tier doesn't feel worth $35 to me read more

The $17 monthly fee checks out considering the quality of this gym. The men's room is consistently disgusting, unkept, and just all around appalling. Everyday I go in there's some sort of mess that is even more repulsive than the last. Feces, hair, strange liquids, you name it. The machines & equipment are often grimy/sweaty due to the empty spray bottles & empty paper towel dispensers that are rarely refilled. It looks like there's a lot of employees on a given day, but not much is being done to keep the establishment clean. read more

Crunch Fitness is my JAM. Im fairly new to the Boulder Area so I myself dont have any other gyms Ive attended for a comparison. Which is fine by me, Crunch has all the necessities I could want in one place so why look beyond? I have a gold-peak membership which is complete access to all equipment and amenities. As well as access to any group fitness programs. The gym has a very wide variety of equipment and I believe its staged perfectly to keep you in a smaller area while doing targeted workouts vs running all over the gym. The women's locker room is always clean and tidy, along with the bathrooms and showers. There's ample locker space to store your belongings (which I feel more than comfortable doing without a lock) There is a sauna in the women's locker room, there are stand up and landown tanning beds. (Tannning lotions are sold at the facility) Spray tanning is an option, there are hydro massage pods and red light therapy pods as well. Along with a wide variety of performance drinks, energy drinks, pre-workout or just good old fashioned water coolers if you forget your water at home! There's also a seperate area for kids to play if your a parent looking for a workout and safe place for your kiddo! The team members are always vibin' and have no problem answering questions or helping clients. There's Personal Trainers you can connect with at anytime while you're there, and the atmosphere is very chill. The ONLY minor inconvenience I find with this gym is it is a "college gym" during the school year its generally pretty packed in here and you might need to adjust your planned workout or take a little longer cool-downs while your waiting on your turn. In boulder however most these kids were raised right and If you speak up they will work with ya. In general I am very pleased with my membership to Crunch. I pay around $30 a month for full access and around 90 days in you'll pay an annual fee of close to $60 but for a fully loaded gym I'd say thats a decent price. read more

I went to go try out this gym since I just started a new job down the street. I really liked all of the equipment and I felt like it was well maintained. I have been contemplating on becoming a member after witnessing one of the group fitness instructors being so rude and disrespectful to another member. The instructor was petite, maybe in her 50s, with blonde hair. Another member had her phone, headphones, and water bottle on top of one of the large tires and she was doing some workouts with it. While the member went to go switch out her weights, the instructor threw her stuff on the floor and took the tire. When the girl came back, she was confused and the instructor goes "I need this, you need to go somewhere else!!" While I totally understand that it was needed for the class, she could've at least approached it very differently. The girl relocated, and the lady did it again! But instead, she put all of her stuff for the class exactly where the girl had moved and pushed everything aside again. It bothered me so much that I changed my mind about starting a membership that day. All she could've said was, "Hi, I'm so sorry but I need this space and equipment for a class that is starting soon. Do you mind moving out of the turf area?" I was very shocked by how unprofessional this employee was, but I hope she was just having a bad day like we all do and this wasn't normal for her. Overall Crunch is a good gym option if your priorities are: a facility that is affordable ($17-month)- has a plethora of equipment (not always functioning) and a good selection of free weights to train yourself into better physical condition! If your looking for a place to shower when you travel, personal training, or amazing staff that will pamper you- definitely DO NOT choose Crunch. Worst customer service. They make it so damn impossible to cancel. You must be in person to cancel... it's hard to do so when you move out of the state. They continue to charge me after 3 years of moving, I called the gym to confirm is my membership was canceled a few months ago. They said yes although they are still charging me monthly. I called the front to get more information on canceling, they told me to write a letter with my name, that I want to cancel and my agreement number. First off I'd like to say that I go to this gym. I've always loved crunch but this location is gross. They have most equipment. But the fact that they don't care about cleanliness is disgusting. Like you have enough staff. Instead of everyone huddling in the front messing around, why don't you have someone clean the toilets/sinks and inside the lockers? Horrible fraudulent company. I used the gym for a month until I moved out of the state and cancelled the membership. For the next 4 months after I cancelled they continued to charge me random fees (not even the monthly fee). They tried telling me that my membership wasn't actually cancelled even though I did and told me the only way I could cancel it was by going into the gym even though I didn't live it the state anymore. I refused to pay the money they continued to charge me with and they ended up turning me into debt collectors and had to pay $250 just for using their gym for 1 month!! read more

Balloons adorned the entrance and there were dozens of staff members at the ready. I must say I rather enjoyed the complimentary massage and acupuncture I received. Front desk staffers gave folks who already signed up for a membership their free swag, while others offered tours. The space is large and has a lot going on. At a glance I counted more than 20 treadmills (oh and there are ellipticals too). The ceilings are high and look chic painted black. There's a somewhat hidden away relaxation area (hydro massage etc.) near the tanning room. Yes, crunch offers complimentary tanning with some membership options. Loads of my friends hopped on the bandwagon during their introductory offer. I'll leave the numbers to the Crunch Folks so as not to lead anyone astray - after all I don't work here. If you have simpler workouts and don't care as much for the amenities, then this should be a good gym for you. It just wasn't enough for me though, especially considering that this is really one of the only big brand gyms in town. I felt like there wasn't near enough machinery, especially with how busy this place was. All of the wipe down stations were either not stocked, or not working. In comparison to other crunch gyms, this is definitely the worst one I've been to so far. I'd recommend remodeling, as the newer locations are just that better and to be honest, this location just felt 3 steps back compared to the other locations that I've been to. As for the staff, they were nice and there were no problems with them. Like I said, I think remodeling would go a long way in retaining customers and providing them with a better experience. read more

After your trial, please do not sign up for anything other than the $9.99/month rate. They wont let you switch back to the basic one easily. After the one month free trial, the staff will try talk you into signing up for the advanced package costing more than $20 month and said you can downgrade anytime. However, when I tried to change to back to the 9.99 one, I was required to pay for the another one year membership fee of $50. obviously the advanced and basic menbership there charges for different kind membership fees. I tried to switch to the $15 one within the advanced membership fee options. It tooks months and the people at the front desk are not helpful. They switched my membership to basic at their platform and still had been charging me $24 for another three month. I talked to the general manager about refunds. While she said they were processing and I have not received refund yet after 1 month. Such behavior is illegal as it is the definition of theft by law. Filed a complaint at the Attorney General Office. (https://coag.gov/file-complaint/) It is not gonna be fast, but the more people complain about it, the AG office is more likely to take action, like they did to Four Star Realty last year. read more

They are so UNPROFESSIONAL. Make sure you don't get conned into signing up for the training sessions, they do not disclose the proper terms and are clearly in it for the money grab and not the health. I have tried canceling multiple times (in person, over the phone and over email) and they do not seem to cancel my agreement and I have been repeatedly charged for services I have asked to be canceled. WORST GYM and COMPANY EVER!!! TOXIC, UNSAFE GYM and Toxic Corporate Management. They screw over their clients and their trainers, do not waste your time or money there, especially on personal training. Definitely do not work for this company either, they will screw you over. I worked at Crunch for 7 months in that time I saw 3 different training directors and 3 gym managers quit as well as over a dozen trainers due to horrible management and treatment, no support and low compensation. I was recently fired from Crunch for calling the police on a gym member that was acting very menacing and aggressive towards me swearing and treating me. because I changed the temp. to warm the yoga room prior to teaching my class. I told this person to take a walk call down that we would talk later. He followed me and got in my face threatening me again. I told him to back away from me that I would not tolerate threats and this kind of behavior and again to take a walk. He continued being aggressive and treating I told him again if he didn't back away I'd get the manager and call the police to have him removed from the gym. He continued to threaten me so I go the manager and called the police. He was removed and banned from the gym. A few days later the manager called me to tell me corporate made the decision to let me go because I made a police report, after I had been previously told that if there was an issue in the gym to call the police by a different manager. I was Crunch's best trainer. I worked my ass off for months with out getting paid to build my clients. I had over 30 clients and was doing over 40 private sessions a week. They do not have any other trainers that have my expense and/or can do what I do. They do not care about the wellbeing and safety of their trainers or off their members. My clients signed on to train with me and Crunch is refusing to give them refunds on their sessions so they can train with me else where. They don't want to train with younger inexperienced trainers. Many of my clients had previous bad experiences with other trainers and came to me because I am reliable, honest, consistent, extremely experienced and educated and got results. If you are trying to cancel your membership or get a refund on sessions and the gym will not refund you call your bank or credit card company dispute the charges. Dispute the charges even if they have already cleared as services not received or services that you paid for and were unfulfilled, you want to cancel because of unsatisfactory. read more

My doctor recommended Crunch when I was finally able to start exercising again after having been rear-ended, not once but twice, by "COVID drivers". I needed to work with a personal trainer to prevent re-injury. I was lucky. Both of my trainers at Crunch have been awesome. I miss Joe but Tanner is equally kind, encouraging, and knowledgeable. I don't hesitate giving Tanner two thumbs up and five stars. He's gold. At the same time something is definitely going on with the overall functioning of the place. When I came back after the holidays most every staff member I had met was gone. Members no longer clean equipment and masks seem optional. The floors are gross. I can't imagine the men's bathroom :-). I hope new management can raise the bar back up a few notches. Crunch is a well equipped gym that deserves a fresh start! read more

Upon initially joining this gym, I asked for assistance in selecting the most appropriate membership type given my stay in the city would only last 2 months (I explicitly say how long I plan to be here). The staff recommended to join a monthly membership system rather than pay a single monthly pass twice. I later find out that I cannot cancel my pass after 2 months, but rather it has to be exactly 60 days. This means that I can only cancel after I have left the city and the only way to cancel is by mailing in a letter... no email, no website, no phone call. This seems extremely outdated and purposefully complicated in order to profit. Very disappointed. read more

I downloaded a free trial pass and went over to workout on 10/30. Nobody was at the front desk; I waited approximately 10 minutes at the front and then just decided to workout because there was apparently no staff. I'm assuming that using the facility without signing a waiver is a huge liability for the gym, but I just couldn't find any staff around and grew tired of waiting. There were two other nonmembers waiting nearby (they also had just downloaded the free trial), and they eventually just walked in as well--if this is how the gym is run, it would be super easy for nonmembers to sneak in. Anyways, the locker room was disgusting as was the gym itself--no soap, dust and hair covering the machines, no wipes/paper towels in the cleaning stations, smudges/dirt/spilled drinks all around, etc. My experience was horrible and I decided to leave mid-workout because of how gross everything was. There was [finally] someone at the front desk as I left, and he just no-smile-nodded at me on my way out. Maybe homeboy was having a bad day and/or hungover from Halloweekend; maybe I came in at a bad time; maybe the gympocolypse happened the night before--but that was rough. I have this free 7-day trial pass (probably not even activated because I just walked in), but one time in there was all I needed to know I will not be back. The staff at Boulder Crunch Fitness should learn to do power cleans....the kind with brooms, dustpans, vacuums, mops, soap, and wipes. Crunch fitness boulder is a fine gym in the Boulder area. It has all you need to get massive gains for you and your boys, but there are several areas of improvement that should be addressed. First, Crunch should ban the children who stand in groups of 5 around the pec deck. It's both a safety issue and it clogs up the lines. Second, the gym is too crowded, regardless of the children standing around doing nothing. This is probably because it costs $10. Let's all do the Boulder thing here and just increase the price in order to price out the poors-- Maybe the city can also establish a gym assistance program in addition to housing assistance. Third, the locker room a lil musty. A price increase can probably pay to get that thing cleaned a bit more. Pretty sure I once saw a dude put on a ventilator in there to drop a deuce. I do like this gym. The leadership must not be great. I've never had an issue with members or staff. Very welcoming. It's just nasty. It's SOOO dirty. Coming from overseeing facility operations of my own gym I know the importance of cleaning and this place does not. Probs the grossest gym I've ever worked out in.
