A root canal completed by Dr Distel came back with face swelling and intense pain 10 years later…read more When I visited the office for a reevaluation, I was shamed by the front desk staff that the root canal failed because I waited a year to get the final crown (10 years ago). I sought a second opinion at Renovo, and when they reviewed Dr Distel's recent imagery, the doctor spotted a root that was not cleared out and filled during the root canal Dr Distel performed. (So he missed it twice - once 10 years ago, and again when I came in with pain). This mistake led to a serious infection causing bone loss in my jaw and countless rounds of antibiotics, time off work, and pain. I went in for retreatment at Renovo to have the missed canal cleared out, only to discover the entire tooth was now compromised and was told I needed an oral surgeon for extraction. In total, I paid for 2 root canals, a surgical extraction, and anesthesia costs not covered by insurance before it was all said and done. Oh, and I lost the tooth. Please, avoid this endodontist at all costs.

I don't even know why I was worried. My dental hygienist (whose name I wish I remembered!) was awesome and friendly. We talked about Animal Crossing (my pandemic coping mechanism). Dr. M saw me and was as bright and cheery as ever. I was even treated to a pretty funny dad joke: "your teeth are good, we don't need to quarantine them. Some people's teeth are so bad, they gotta leave them here for us to quarantine." - he even said it with a completely straight face. It was reassuring, and definitely gave me a 'you are doing OK, we are all in this together' vibe. Everything was stated factually with zero judgment. Turns out I have a cavity, but it was stated as 'check out this cool photo! So here's your filing, and here's some cavity around it, so it'd be a good idea to take care of it.' The picture was, indeed, cool. I left my appointment happy I had gone, and excited to get my cavity fixed. That should be their slogan -' we don't suck so much you're excited to come see us!' Also, they have the office decorated for Halloween, even though the waiting room is closed. It was cool and appreciated.

Conflicting stories. They did give me an estimate but its an estimate on what my out of network insurance will cover, but its like 200 dollars. Thats not really accepting insurance. Then today during my work meetings, the receptionist called numerous times to collect payment and refuse to have my husband seen who was in their lobby if I didn't get off my meetings and pay immediately. They need to be upfront and considerate. I felt like I was taking advantage of and it looks like other clients feel the same way on yelp.

I had a dental implant done at Barrington Dental Wellness Center in July 2025, and it has been one…read moreof the worst medical experiences of my life. Since that procedure, I have lived with constant pain, burning, and pressure at the implant site. I understand that complications can sometimes happen - nerve irritation or damage is a known risk - but that is not why I am writing this review. What truly deserves 0 stars is how I was treated after I reported the problem. From the moment I first mentioned my pain, Dr. Ferdkoff was dismissive, unempathetic, and condescending. I can still remember him smirking while I was trying to explain what I was going through - as if my suffering was an inconvenience to him. When I asked questions, he brushed them off and told me that "some people just have that problem" and that I'd have to live with it. No concern. No effort to help. No compassion. During my final appointment in December 2025, I tried on the permanent crown, but it looked completely wrong - the color and shape were off. I told them I wasn't satisfied, so they screwed the temporary crown back on instead. Two days later, the pain became so intense that I ended up in the emergency room. That was the breaking point for me, and I knew I would never return to that clinic again. Thankfully, I was later able to get a refund and continue my treatment elsewhere. My new provider - a board-certified Orofacial Pain Specialist - confirmed that I had sustained nerve damage from the implant procedure. He advised removing the permanent crown and replacing it with a healing cap to reduce the pressure. He explained that the implant itself was placed close to a nerve and that removing it entirely could make things worse. He has since put me on nerve pain medication to manage the damage done. To make matters worse, I later discovered that the Glidewell implant system used by Barrington Dental Wellness Center is a budget option that many quality clinics do not even work with. My current dentist had to order special tools just to remove or adjust my crown because they didn't have compatible parts in office. I called Barrington to see if they could help remove the crown sooner, and their response was appalling. First, I was told I'd been "removed as a patient." Then, after multiple calls, Dr. Ferdkoff himself refused to help because he "didn't agree" with the specialist's recommendation - even though I was in pain and simply asking for temporary relief. His exact stance: not his problem. I have never written a review in my life, but this experience shook my faith in the medical profession. I trusted this clinic with my health and was treated like a nuisance once they got paid. Barrington Dental Wellness Center and Dr. Ferdkoff showed me what happens when profit comes before patients. If you value compassion, professionalism, and basic human decency, stay away from this place.
