Let me start my review by saying Long Grove Dental is AMAZING!!!! After my first appointment with Dr. James it was clear to me how much he truly cares about his patients. His level of thoroughness during my first exam instantly made me feel comfortable because I could tell he would go above and beyond in providing exceptional results for any work that I needed. I also greatly appreciate his willingness to thoroughly explain any potential issues he sees and answer any questions I may have. Many providers don't take the time to properly educate their patients and provide advice that is unique to their dental needs, which can lead to expensive procedures to correct the damage. Luckily Dr. James and his team understand it's more important to build a relationship with the patient and prevent damage, which in turn will lead to referrals and more loyal patients. And of course I have to give a shout out to the rest of the team that I've met! Agata is a wonderful dental assistant! She is always gentle when working on my teeth and is consistently checking in with me to make sure I'm comfortable. She is also incredibly friendly, which makes any dental appointment more fun! Sophia, is an amazing dental hygienist! She is very gentle, which I greatly appreciate since I have sensitive teeth. And not only is she gentle, but she is very thorough and knowledgeable. Silvia, who runs the front desk, is basically super women! She is able to handle the workload that took my previous dental office 5 people to do. I greatly appreciate her willingness to answer any insurance related questions and working with my schedule to set up appointments. Overall I really appreciate how everyone at Long Grove Dental makes you feel like family! I have been going to see Dr. Sam Akmakjian at Long Grove Dental for a long time. 15-20 years. I used to be anxious and jittery to go to the dentist before starting there. Dr Sam and the entire staff is wonderful, caring and reassuring in every way, always making sure you're OK, always a smile on their faces. Over the years I've had fillings, crowns and root canal. Just this past week I had two old decaying fillings removed and replaced with crowns. Decay was close to nerve, almost needed root canal, but Dr. Sam's expert injection to numb made it possible to save, I didn't feel a thing! And the numbing is administered so that mostly the tooth is numbed, you don't get that all over numb feeling making it hard to talk. My twin boys (23) still sees Dr. Sam. They truly make you feel like your family from the moment you walk though their doors. They staff never puts you on the back burner when you call. If you need to get in for an emergency toothache they always find a way to see you. The wait is never long and the professionalism is beyond this world. The doctors take their time to explain in full detail what they are going to do and ensure you are comfortable the entire time. Just left an appointment with Dr. James and all I can say is wow! By far the best dentist I've ever been to. I have a wedding coming up and just had a root canal on a front tooth. My prior dentist was a great person, but I wasn't confident in their ability to maintain the appearance of my teeth. He was kind, flexible, and extremely logical when discussing options. We landed on a game plan that allows me to attend the wedding without concern. Dr. James also blended some rough edges on an old filling (from my past dentist) and it's now blended perfectly. His passion really shows and the office staff was just amazing as well. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I've found my new dentist! read more

I can easily make this review lengthy but I will try to keep it short and sweet. I'd highly recommend Long Grove Dental office. I had some dental work done there recently and was very pleased. I was a new patient. Dr. Sam and his colleagues made me feel comfortable, answered all of my questions and treated me with patience, and understanding. It goes a very long way with me. The office offers every single dental procedure you can think of: cleaning, dental work, dental implants, crowns, bridges, etc. which makes it very convenient. I had an exceptionally good experience with Dr. James and his office staff. I have been to several local dentists over the years due to our dental insurance plan changes, but I have found the dentist I will stay with. I came to Dr. James with an implant partially completed through another dental office. He didn't send me away. Instead, he saw me right away and within a couple of weeks I had my new crown. In fact, with their new technology, he fabricated the crown while I waited. The procedure was painless, and my tooth looks and feels great! Silva in the front office is so accommodating as well. I would like to rave about Long Grove Dental. Let's start with Silva. She is ALWAYS welcoming and very personable. Although both dentists are really nice, I have seen Dr. James more. He is very friendly, he has a great sense of humor and if you are ever nervous about being in a dental chair, he is the one for you! I went to Dr. James with a very difficult case. Other doctors were not able to figure out my problem.He listened intently to what I said and worked out a treatment plan all the while explaining everything in detail and making sure I was comfortable what was going to be done.
