How many people can you say going to the dentist and they have a good time? I've been here a couple times and each time I've had a great experience and more importantly I leave learning something new. Last time I was here Dr. Garfield. Checked out my tooth pain any suspect it was because I clenched my teeth. I thought no way and he explained with my stressful job and persona that it was very typical that I clenched. He suggested a bite guard might help but to sit on it and think about it. I realized right away he was right and ordered the guard. Literally in and out in 30 min. I go back to pick up the guard and he showed me how they work, how to take care of them ( keep away from my puppy for sure ), and when to wear them. As always Marlene, Dr. Gelman, and the rest of the staff were as polite as ever. Dr. Gelman is new to the office and is always quick with a firm handshake and a smile. Great doctors. read more

I went in a few days for my regular cleaning and was cared for by Suzanne as usual. I just want to give her a shout out for being a caring, thorough and gentle dental hygienist. My exam and cleaning by her was absolutely without any discomfort whatsoever to the extent that I even dozed off during my cleaning. It doesn't get any more gentle than that. If I could I would give 0. It looks like a scam. They can't provide detailed bill with everything you paid, what insurance paid, what they did code by code and what price is. They charge you much more than insurance approves even if your dental insurance in network. Different office representatives say different things. If you are still planning to visit them check if your insurance in network, because they will not tell you you are out of network. My advice be careful and check everything they do. Ask for estimate first, check with your insurance then. Visit another practice and compare. read more

Dr. Garfield was able to see me this morning as I was experiencing pain in two teeth. After a thorough exam including an X-ray , it was determined that the two crowns that had been put in place six weeks prior were properly put in place. Dr. Garfield's staff called the Endodontist that had previously performed root canals in these to two teeth. Because of that call, they were able to see me within a few hours. Dr. Garfield and his staff have always proven to be responsive and caring. I would highly recommend Dr. Garfield. read more

This is a great office. Marlene the office manager makes everyone feel right at home and gives the office warm feeling. I've been with most of the dental hygienist the past few years and they are all equally good. I have no preference to whom I see for my cleanings. My main doctor is Garfield. I have scene Dr. Gelman a few times. Both are good and you can't go wrong seeing either one. Dr. Shulkin usually isn't in the office when I go but my friends have been treated by him and are very happy. Warm staff that always makes you feel comfortable. I'm not the type of person who often goes online to complain about a business. I feel like mistakes happen and, especially during the age of COVID, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. However, I'm extremely unhappy with what transpired between me, Emergency Dental Services, and Dental Design. On Saturday night one of my teeth broke while I was eating. I immediately began looking for an emergency dental office that could get me in as soon as possible. I found Dental Design courtesy of a company called Emergency Dental Services. I paid a $25 fee to reserve an appointment with Dental Design. I received a confirmation email and all seemed good. The morning of my appointment I again received text and email confirmations stating that my appointment was at 9am. I showed up to Dental Design at 8:45am and called the office to see if I should come in or wait in my car until they called me. Imagine my surprise when they told me they didn't have me on the schedule. I explained to the receptionist what happened and told her I had email and text confirmations of my appointment. She put me on hold as she went to talk to the dentist and returned a few minutes later to tell me again they would not be able to see me that day. There I sat in my car, broken tooth in hand, and no dental appointment. I initially posted a 1 star Yelp review explaining what happened. Within an hour or so of my review being posted I received a conference called with Dr. Gelman from Dental Design and one of the co-owners of Emergency Dental Services. To their credit both companies apologized for the misunderstanding. Dr. Gelman explained to me that according to their arrangement with Emergency Dental Services (EDS), EDS is not allowed to book patients on their behalf and that all appointments need to be confirmed by Dental Design. In my mind that arrangement makes no sense and had I known that up front I would have continued to look for a dentist that could see me on a Sunday. Instead, because I was lead to believe that I already had an appointment I stopped looking for another dentist. Of course by the time I found out that Dental Design wouldn't honor the appointment I booked through EDS it was too late to get in somewhere else. At least EDS was willing to refund my $25 booking fee. During the conference call one solution that was proposed by EDS was that Dental Design could possibly try to fit me in today. Again Dr. Gelman reiterated that he couldn't do that. The only reason I'm not leaving Dental Design a 1 star review is because they were courteous enough to call me to apologize. But like I explained to them over their phone an apology won't put my tooth back in my mouth. They shouldn't be advertising emergency dental services if they can just deny you an appointment if they don't happen to already have an opening. The nature of emergency services is that they are unpredictable and therefore cannot be booked in advance like that. Of course Dr. Gelman could have kept his office open a bit longer that afternoon in order to see me and at least stabilize what was left of my broken tooth until I could come back for a more permanent treatment but he was unwilling to do that. Instead, I was sent away with a broken tooth and have to time time off work to go elsewhere to have my tooth repaired. read more

Wonderful practice my family loves this dentist. Dr. Garfield has wonderful personality great with little kids. Accomadate our busy schedules same day apts if needed. Very friendly clean atmosphere. Evening weekend apts available. Never any billing issues or unexpected fees. We love this practice we drive pretty far to keep coming. However it is very hard to find a dentist you trust whos good with kids. Accepts most insurance and is accommodating. This is very important but most important is his personality. I always check reviews before i go anywhere..well years back i had an issue with a dentist..so it is very hard for me to be comfortable sitting in a chair at the dentist..well i had an emergency..i was in major pain..i had to see someone quick..at my lunch break i called and spoke with Mary..i was grateful they could get me in after work that day..scared to death..but i had to go..i have never felt so comfortable..Dr Gelman made sure i was taken care of..i am in no pain..well maybe just a little..but healing..and actually very happy i finally found a dentist that i can be relaxed at..i highly recommend him..i could not be happier!!! My disappointment about Dental design. - a lot of clerical issues leading to different unpleasant results at the end - Unprofessionalism on billing details and providing different numbers with each call/ person (total balance, today's payment, adjustments amounts were completely different in the first ledger provided vs corrected one with an interval of 2 weeks between receiving those documents and with the fact that my last or last Insurance payments were made 3 months ago) - Inconsistency in explanations how secondary insurance works (receptionist explained as I can send patients portion not covered by my primary insurance to the secondary insurance, the person calling about outstanding balance explained as they divide main claim amount and part sent to primary insurance and another one to the secondary insurance that caused an issue with final balance as they were trying to claim insurance I didn't have (that I also clarified when I was there last time) and as a result added it into my balance) - Issues with having joined account (insurance information is updated for both instead of adding only to the correct person, reminding of the visit to the wrong person, letting know about an outstanding balance without specifying for who's visit that leads to the confusion) - Unwillingness to help (very polite on the phone and and in emails but no results at the end, just empty promises) - I've never seen such statements when you don't understand what it is for: both statements that they sent with incorrect and corrected numbers had only total balance remaining (not clear for what as we had joined account and it wasn't clear for which visits) and insurance adjustments dated 4-5 months after my last visit with the code Credit adj, nothing else. So until you request itemized bill (that took us 2 weeks to get) you won't understand where this total number came from. - Doctor has 2 patients at the same time (at least most of my visits it was so especially one time when I asked the nurse to call the doctor and finish with me first as the doctor was missed for a very long time ) that affected time spent in dentistry - Instead of apologizing appropriately their manager Joel was offering me a discount for the remaining balance that as my opinion was not worth all the stress and time I had AND ONLY in the exchange of removing bad review. So they don't want to show that they can have some issues and are willing to fix them. It doesn't look professionally correct. It made me think if those reviews that are currently displayed could be truly all satisfied or did they make deals with other unsatisfied clients. I rely on the reviews before I go somewhere and if I knew how they deal with the issues and support their patients I wouldn't go there. Going to the dentist is stressful enough for many people. Patients should not loose faith that the office will keep their billing straight, or work out any problem that arise, or whether they know what they're doing regarding your dental care. This is at the very core of the dentist/patient relationship. read more

Everyone takes their time to ensure you know everything about what is needed to care for your teeth. They are committed to getting you teeth healthy and your beautiful smile bright. I had a hard time finding my dental information and Mary was patient with me and followed up with me without hesitating to schedule my appointment the very first time I called.
