The grill tasted very fresh and flavorful. They also serve a gravy on the side which was surprisingly good -- and that's saying a lot because I'm usually not much of a gravy person. The pikliz was tasty; my only complaint is that I would have liked a little more of it, although that may have just been something I should have checked before leaving. The rice was excellent. It had a really nice flavor with a slightly peppery finish and honestly stood out as some of the better rice I've had at a Haitian restaurant. They also offer a house tea that goes along with the name Choublak (which the owner Marcus mentioned means hibiscus). The tea contains sorrel and is definitely worth trying if you visit. Another thing I appreciated was seeing a hands-on owner. Marcus is both the owner and the chef, and it shows in the attention to the food and the way he interacts with customers. Overall, if you're looking to try Haitian food, this is a great spot to check out. They have a small sit-down area and offer lunch specials Wednesday through Friday, which is a good opportunity to stop by and try the menu.

But the menu on the kiosk did not match the one on the table. Plus the kiosk had the menu for several restaurants. It was very confusing. It was just a mess. A diner should be able to see the meal, the prices, and what's included without running all over the place. The menus on the table were new. Why not include the prices and a description of the meal? We were exasperated. So we left.

We were able to sit down for a full meal at 1am. I ordered the tapas dish, which was surprisingly filling. My niece had the legume, and my sister and daughter enjoyed their big platter of fried plantains, Accra, and meat. We ate, we danced, and had a great time. My only critique is that my drink although pretty tasted like more juice than a tequila cocktail, but overall the experience was fun. I'd definitely give them another try next time I'm in the area.

The one thing I look for in black rice is that the rice is not grainy and it's just not super black. Once I received the meal, the rice was grainy, the kitchen either use the liquid form of the mushroom or a cube because it certainly was not authentic black mushroom rice, and it was just hard. The oxtail was not falling off the bone and I was given a lot of fatty pieces. I was not happy with the food at all and this is not giving good Haitian food. If you are going to create a restaurant that is authentication food then it should be serving that. And the salad was pitiful. It was iceberg lettuce with a piece of tomato on it. The sauce of the oxtail was nice as I was able to dip my plantains in there. The plantains were nice and crisp with a good amount of salt on there. The acts was nice as an appetizer, but a little too soft I needed to be fried just a little bit more The service was good and our server was very attentive to us. I will say that I will not be returning as I need to find another Haitian place to eat because this is not it.

The ambiance is that of a fast casual restaurant with and order counter and tables lining the outer perimeter of the restaurant. There are TVs playing as well. The service wasn't particularly friendly, the two ladies up front seemed more interested in chatting than helping me with the menu. The lunch special came with a soda but they do not offer diet soda and they will not substitute bottled water. I walked in for pickup, and the two lunches probably took 15-20 minutes to be prepared. My husband got the griot, which was flavorful but dry. I got the stewed chicken which was slightly overcooked and underseasoned. I did enjoy the fried smashed plantains, but the rice and beans tasted weirdly ashy? We barely touched those. The pikliz was only ok. Overall, I would not return as I was disappointed.

From the moment I walked in, the energy was inviting and refreshing. The staff were welcoming and friendly. They made sure I had everything I needed and explained the menu well. You could tell they take pride in their food and culture. The inside of the restaurant is painted a bright, vibrant green that immediately catches your eye. It feels fresh, clean, and full of life. Kompa music plays in the background, setting the perfect mood--it honestly made me want to dance while waiting for my food! The vibe is effortlessly Caribbean, transporting you without ever leaving the city. Portions were generous, and for the flavor and quality, it's more than worth it. Great value for an authentic Caribbean experience. You won't leave hungry! I went with my go to meal , which never disappoints! * Dinde Tassot (fried turkey): Crispy on the outside, tender inside. Seasoned to perfection--savory, flavorful, and with that bold Haitian kick. * Black rice (diri djon djon): Rich, earthy, and aromatic. You can tell it's made with love and tradition. * Macaroni with cheese: Creamy, cheesy, and made just right--comfort food at its best. Not baked, but still Great. I always order extra ! * Fried plantains: Golden and sweet with a perfect crisp on the outside. * Pikliz & gravy: The pikliz added that tangy, spicy crunch that ties everything together beautifully. The gravy? Poured it on everything! Can't wait to explore more on the menu !

Going in, the interior was very clean and clearly gave off carribean vibes. The tables inside were jumping with other patrons, but we were seated rather quickly. For dinner, we ordered 1x griot dinner complete (meaning the platter; rice & peas, pikliz, plaintains), 1x lassot complete (fried turkey), and 2x pate codes (think of a loaded hatian empanada; we ordered 1x fish and 1x chicken). Moving on with our review; everything was excellent! The griot had a nice crispy exterior but was tenderly seasoned inside. The lassot was surprisingly moist and crispy too. To include, the contrast of the onions marinated with the green seasoning on top. The rice & peas were cooked perfectly as they were light as air and plantains were crispy & salted nicely too. The pate codes were huge in size and flavor as well! My preference would be the original over the fish, but they both packed a tangy, savory, and spicy punch! Moreover, we had the pleasure of meeting and being served by the owner, who was very friendly and attentive. Overall, we were highly satisfied with our experience and would definitely recommend this spot for anybody who's looking for quality hatian cusuine. Final verdict 5/5!

Learning that they opened during a pandemic and have a pretty good following. I ordered chicken in sauce with rice and beans. It looked like the rice and beans were the left overs from the pot and many variations in color. The white rice I ordered on the side was really good. Believe it or not you can mess up white rice lol. My daughter didn't want to even try the rice and peas because it looked old. I was really hoping to get a Haitian restaurant with 5 stars and this place has 5 star service however the food just wasn't what I am accustomed to. I think it's important for restaurants to be consistent. No matter what time you come you should get the same quality. Im sure they probably didn't want to have to make new rice but if it's offered it should be good. Im not sure if I will return because I just wasn't in the mood to cook and wanted to see if their cuisine would be worth the drive. Not bad at all if I'm in the area already. However, I think they should do quality checks before serving food. I was disappointed...
