My (now ex) husband sees a therapist here, Mary, and she told him (…read morewithout EVER meeting me or talking to me even one time) that I was a narcissist and controlling. As a result, he would call me awful names, say "OK narcissist" to things I said and one time he screamed, "Fuck you, you narcissistic piece of shit" to me in front of our daughter, started sneaking guns into our home and lying to me about it ( Mary said it's controlling of me to want to have a discussion about firearms and he can do what he wants), and began recording all of our conversations to "prove" I was a narcissist. I begged him to stop seeing Mary and asked him to begin marriage counseling instead, as she was helping to destroy our marriage by telling him these untrue things, but he refused. ZERO STARS. Stay away from this place and especially Mary, UNLESS you want your marriage utterly destroyed and then get dragged through a gut-wrenching divorce with an abusive man. If you DO want that, be sure to go here and ask for Mary--she'll make sure your marriage ends.

You are expect to 'follow others'. If you ask the staff how do I know who to contact for what? who is SW? It takes forever to get info. Absolutely no way to get exercise; if you want to walk the halls, it's only about 30 yard. Often were out of tops/lotion....basic needs.

Bad place to go I used to go there. I was telling my doctor about how the antidepressant I was on…read morewasn't working and I wanted to lower it. They didn't listen to me and then last May. I had a seizure because of the antidepressant I was on was such a high dose and was in the hospital and afterwards I made an appointment and they told me because I was a new meds because the hospital sent me that they said the antidepressant wasn't what caused it and then when I couldn't go to a appointment, they sent me a text saying A person will be getting back to me and then three months later I get an letter saying that they drop me because I was an bad patient and that I didn't listen. When really it was them that didn't listen and it was the antidepressant. I was on that caused the seizure. They don't listen when you tell them things and blame it on you. They just see you as a paycheck and not a person.

My son was referred to New Oakland by his school social worker after hearing our struggles. He…read moresigned up for the Face to Face program, which honestly did nothing for him. He is 12 and he was doing coloring pages and it was essentially a glorified babysitting situation. I get that there are budget issues and staffing shortages, but we were really left hanging after this program ended. He wasn't assigned a therapist for several months, and the psychiatrist we were sent to was incredibly rude and disrespectful to me. Our appointments have been cancelled with no notice and my son has almost ran out of his medication as a result. They then say they need permission to call in the prescription, due to it being a stimulant, and we may have to wait a few days. A few days as a result of YOU canceling a med check that was in the books for well over a month? Not our problem. Inexcusable. I was hung up on twice by the psychiatrist as well and just made to feel like we were bothering them anytime I called for guidance and help. I don't dislike his therapist at Farmington Hills, so we are switching to their psychiatrist (waiting list) to see if that makes ANY difference. We are a family in crisis and New Oakland is not a place I would ever recommend to someone in a similar situation.
