This office scams office visits. They make you come in and pay for an office visit before they will refill a prescription.

i had one visit with Dr. Maria Swetech and decided to change providers. They ran 40min late. This was an annual visit to get established with the practice. I was asked if I wanted an EKG but they didn't know if my insurance would cover it. There was also no medical justification. I was also asked if I wanted a pregnancy test. I'm 54 in perimenopause. I had no concerns about this. We discussed my diabetes and I shared a couple other concerns which I received referrals for. I later learned the visit was billed as an annual appointment and a regular session because we discussed other concerns. This resulted in a copay which I would not have had for my annual. Later I requested a cgm (which I had been using on and off for the past 2 years). I was told I'd need to be monitored by the doctor by scheduling additional visits. I was told if the doctor prescribed it they would have to monitor it. This had never been required with other doctors. When I asked, I received no medical justification for it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After 3 attempts, the correct cgm prescription still hadn't been forwarded to my pharmacy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After all this, I felt like a cash cow not a patient. I felt as if there was more attention given to "what can we bill for?" Less attention to "how can we support your healing?" Dr. Maria simply doesn't have the experience and confidence right now to be effective. Her only confident advice at appointments is to say "Don't do drugs, k." The reception staff are incredibly rude and incompetent. I actually had to leave before my appointment because the office manager wanted to argue with me after the receptionist refused to give me a mask. Last July 4th I was sick but was ignored and rushed out because the staff was too busy taking group pictures so they could leave for a long weekend. My 4th present was 8 days in the hospital with an incredibly infected abcess that was missed by Dr. Jon. I am still in pain over a year later and this office doesn't know or care why. Steer clear of this place. This level of substandard attention to detail and empathy is how people unexpectedely die when they visit the er following a useless visit with unqualified Dr's. read more

I saw Dr Maria during a health crisis. I got a injection of roechephin and a RX for antibiotics. I came back in a week. She chose not to share my lab results with me. She only tried to strong arm me into getting cholesterol lowering medication. I was very sick. She didnt listen to anything I said. But was more concerned about my cholesterol and not my health crisis. The following day my lung collapsed. I would never go back to this unqualified Dr. I actually think her daddy (another Dr died for medical malpractice) probably paid a tutor to do her testing for her because she was not only negligent she has no clue at all!!! read more

I was nervous going to a new doctor as I usually am. I set an appointment at 3:45pm. I was greeted, all the staff were SUPER! friendly and nice. Be aware if you have Medicare do not pay up front. They are not allowed to collect money upfront for a deductible they cannot charge you for a deductible until they charge or send a bill to Medicare and then after that then they can send you a bill for any deductibles or co-pays. I am on disability and they wanted me to pay 120 upfront because my deductible is 180 but I've already met 140 so that means I will be overpaying by $140. In order to take Medicare insurance they have to follow certain guidelines and they are breaking those guidelines and agreements with Medicare by asking for money upfront without billing Medicare first. Just be careful if you are going to the office the staff upfront does not know what they are doing. read more

Wrote a review here before and would like to update: I sincerely hope other patients here have a more positive experience than I did, but a quick glance at other reviews shows that some of the problems I had were (unfortunately) not unique to me. Check your charges!! I noticed something odd because I pay 100% out of pocket until I reach my deductible, but they seem to think they can just bill everything to insurance and it won't be double checked by patient. Dr. gets angry when you start asking questions (if you ever get a reply) and says 'most insurance covers it'. I booked my 1st visit as a well visit. It was changed to a sick visit for some reason without my knowledge, even though I was not sick and had no symptoms of being sick. Doctor later tried to tell me it was because I had a "high BMI" (when I stepped on the scale I still had my work boots, key lanyard, and shoulder bag on, and told "no it doesn't matter" when I asked if I needed to take it off). For reference, my shoulder bag probably weighs about 7-10 lbs. At my next appointment, I made sure to take off the bag and key lanyard before I was weighed. Doctor said "Wow were you trying to lose weight?" (Note this was only a few weeks later). I explained the situation and she didn't really seem to care. Most of office staff is great but poor communication / forgetfulness (at best) or dishonesty (at worst) from Doctor. I got a really good first impression, but after that it seemed like she was completely forgetting a lot of what she had said verbally in previous appointments by the time I had my next one. Doctor was not up front or transparent about labs, why they were being ordered, diagnoses, prescriptions, or billing. At my first appt. verbally asked me if I wanted to have blood work drawn for my upcoming preventative physical while I was there (in addition to some other labs). I said yes (oops!) and she billed all of it as diagnostic. If the preventative labs had been billed like she said, insurance would have covered it. After months of trying to get answers, Dr. finally called and told me it was MY choice to have a high deductible insurance plan and that it's my responsibility to know what's covered. Also claimed blood work was ALL diagnostic for reasons not discussed at visit. Kind of hard to make decisions about what to have done when they are not honest about what is being done. Going to have to take a significant, unplanned portion from my HSA so it doesn't go to collections to cover it which is great; otherwise I can not afford it. Sucks because I have been trying to save that for emergencies and retirement. I appreciate the Doctor at least eventually calling me back to answer the billing question I had, which was directly related to how she submitted something to insurance. She made sure to tell me 'most insurances would've covered it anyways'. I appreciate the staff members in her office who tried to help me, and my one star is NOT reflective of the office staff. When the Dr. finally called me back to answer a billing question I'd been trying to get resolved since October (insurance and lab billing company told me I needed to talk to the Dr. about it) she made sure to tell me she had 'seen some things online that had been brought to her attention' which I can only assume was in regards to my previous review, which I've shortened and re-posted below (under the three asterisks) to stay in the character limit. She also said her office was under no obligation to help me with billing issues, that they were only doing it out of kindness, and that I was lucky she called me back at all. *** In general: Be careful if your insurance has a high deductible and you are paying out of pocket until that deductible has been met. A few general pieces of advice to anyone planning to go here: 1. Try to find your own lab for blood work. Doctor's office, lab, and billing company are three separate entities. 2. If you have a medication review during your appointment and are having prescription(s) refilled, I highly recommend following up with your pharmacy ASAP to make sure that they receive the new prescription(s) within a few days. I made the mistake of not checking if it was actually sent over or not and didn't even realize it hadn't been until my pharmacy notified me I had no refills as I was about to run out. At my last visit, I was told by the doctor that the prescription would be refilled, but then it wasn't. If I had been told at that visit that I needed to see a specialist for that medication or that I needed another follow-up to have it filled, then I would have scheduled a follow-up or gotten it filled through another office. That's not what happened though. I wrote down questions to ask ahead of time in my notebook and brought it, then wrote the answers she gave verbally as she answered them, so I highly doubt I'm misremembering this. read more

I have had my fair share of appointments with bad providers over the years. Ones that don't listen to their patient, over prescribe antibiotics, have no clue about nutrition or preventative medicine, and lack compassion. You will not find this here. Dr. Maria Swetech is highly educated and knows what she is doing. She is compassionate, reassuring, non judgement and efficient. When I finish my education to become a provider, it's how I imagine myself striving to be! They also practice what they preach and are fit and healthy which I feel as providers is important and motivates me to get better in shape for my own future patients. The office is also family owned and she works with her brother which is lovely. The office front is well run and I never have had issues getting appointments or paperwork. I've recommended this PCP office to several people because I know how hard it is to find a good one. For those that have complained they don't order controlled substances, there is a greater pandemic facing our country than even covid and it is from narcotics and providers are sadly to blame for it. Being accountable for controlled substances and trying every avenue available before them is what a good provider does, and sadly what was not done in the past. DR Swetech (senior) left me speechless..something that's very hard to do. I called and spoke with him a couple times about my parents. He pretty much told me my parents should be put in assisted living and my dad was too old to have any further care. My father is an 83 year old strong bull with a leaky valve that is going to be replaced this month. I have never had chest pains when I hung up the phone with a doctor. read more

I lost all confidence in Dr John when I was a patient for h a year, going to see him regularly for this horrific pain I was having in my hip joints. He kept telling me that he felt bad for me and that I was to young to be in this type of pain. All the while he told me I had some mild arthritis is my hip joints so for a year I kept pushing myself thinking I was just a big baby or had a low pain tolerance. I have been in this doctors office in tears because I was in such agony I rather would've died than to live like this. I finally sought out a orthopedic doctor on my own because every single doctor or specialist I was referred to by this office didn't accept my insurance... once I finally seen a knowledgeable orthopedic doctor I was advised I in fact DID NOT HAVE MILD ARTHRITIS!! I actually had an advanced stage of osteoarthritis and my hip joints were bone on bone!!! I stuck it out with dr John until I had my surgery and because I am still a few months into recovering from a TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT I didn't change doctors until today... I guess I had some pent up animosity towards him for misdiagnosising me for so long today was kind of the straw that broke the camels back when I had my tele med appointment for med refills because I have insomnia and a few other issues which this is my fault for not switching doctors as soon as I had my replacement but today I seen idk who this doctor is cuz I've never seen her but she said she didn't feel comfortable giving me sleep medicine that I've been on a year cuz I've recently been diagnosed with sleep apnea.... over the last year I've gained 40 pounds from I believe this dam medicine they had me on which in turn has led to sleep apnea I'm just over this place and I'm making my kid switch doctors too... while the doctor is very nice he really lost my trust when he let me literally walk miles a day for my job on bum hips!!! Knowledgeable doctor, however the office staff is extremely rude. Also, said that he would recheck a lab level because it was high. Well in addition to that lab added on several others that were drawn at my previous visit to add up to an additional 200$ in lab fees. Office staff did not even address any concern over this. im a big doc swetech fan , they're old fashioned good people and a friendly family organization with doc's ma and son (also a dr) working there . and doc's the furthest thing from rude as hes as warm and friendly of a person as there is that keeps the entire office in a good mood , a great atmosphere with doc always joking around . doc's very good for the soul and always lifts your spirits into a positive state . and thats the reason im posting this , because doc was termed rude by somebody and thats the farthest thing from the truth . yes no doubt drs have conflict of personalities with some patients and it doesnt work out . but ive been going to doc 15 years and always feel better leaving there as docs such an upbeat , friendly and fun person ! read more
