ShopRite Aberdeen -- This Produce Section Is Embarrassing!…read more I normally don't go out of my way to write a review about a grocery store's produce section, but this was ridiculous. Take a look at the sweet potatoes I found at ShopRite in Aberdeen. Tiny, beat-up, dried out, and some looking like they were already headed toward the trash -- yet they're sitting out for customers to buy at $1.29/lb. One of them was barely bigger than my fingers. Come on, ShopRite. And that would be one thing if the prices were competitive. They aren't. If you're going to charge customers full grocery-store prices, then at least give us full-quality produce. Customers shouldn't have to dig through a bin trying to find a sweet potato that isn't shriveled, damaged, undersized, or questionable. What really gets me is that this isn't some exotic or hard-to-source item. These are sweet potatoes. A basic staple. There is absolutely no reason a major supermarket should have a produce display looking this neglected. ShopRite Aberdeen needs to do three things: improve quality control, remove bad produce instead of leaving it for customers, and get serious about competitive pricing. People work too hard for their money to pay premium-ish prices for bottom-of-the-bin produce. Do better, ShopRite. Much better.

Great produce, cheese selection, a variety of fresh meats, organic items, bakery items, surprises in the non-food isles with seasonal items, unique finds in the freezer section, love their frozen fish and seafood, delicious German specialties such as chocolates and other food items. I feel like I should be a spokesperson for this place. I tell everyone about the benefits and if they're a non-believer, I can give so many reasons to give them a try. I know I've converted two friends that had turned their noses up at the idea of shopping at this discount store. Quality, clean, inexpensive, great customer service and great products. What more could you want?!?

They do have some things that are brands some may be familiar with, such as "sweet baby rays BBQ sauce." I am cautious with their fruits and veggies because they aren't always the freshest of selection. Their meat selection is pretty decent! They have a decent selection of spices as well. FYI, they only carry marinades seasonally. All in all it's a decent place to shop for groceries. They don't usually have people on the floor to help you if you have questions so hopefully you can figure it out. Some reminders are it cost $.25 cents to get a cart and once you return it you will get it back. Make sure you have a bag to carry you items if you decide you don't want a cart because they don't have bags to pack your food up in. They do have empty boxes around the building that you can use but it can get heavy. I would recommend this place to anyone that is trying to do a quick shopping trip that doesn't involve veggies or fruit. Oh and if you need plantains, please go to another store because they are never ready even for .19cents
