I was shocked when the lead TSA told me she would not help me because she's about to go on break and I had to wait for the other TSA. I felt that that was horrible customer service. She was literally right there but chose not to help me and to make me wait for someone else when the process literally took five minutes. It was as if she took me canceling my membership personally. It was very UNPROFESSIONAL! For that reason alone if I ever rejoin Hotworx, it won't be that Pembroke Pines location.

If you have never heard of Hotworx before, you are about to start hearing all about this trending workout in South Florida. It is a studio with multiple CLEAN AND WELL KEPT infrared saunas that each feature a different workout. They even included three saunas with ellipticals and bikes. Each sauna plays a different workout every 15, 30, or 45 minutes for participants to follow along with. If you are someone who needs someone on top of them the entire time then this might not be for you. You definitely will have to push yourself to follow through the workout. The workouts range from beginner to highly advanced. I'm a trainer and struggled through their advanced warrior. Their motto is "more workout for less time" and boy, is that true! My muscles were on fire for the days following. It was challenging and fun! Due to COVID they have allowed only three people in the saunas and you must be from the same hose hold. This was actually a great time because my sister and I got to have our own sauna! It was great to try a new workout and not feel eyes watching or judging. Each day we get a new workout that pushes us to our limits, gets the heart pumping, and leaves us sore and coming back for more. The schedule is incredibly flexible with 2 morning and 2 evening workouts during the week and a special Saturday morning class to mix things up. The workouts take place at Volunteer Park on Sunrise Blvd in Plantation Acres. At first, I was skeptical working out outdoors. I'd always worked out in a gym so I wasn't sure about being outside for my workouts. But let me tell you, being outdoors is the best. I work in an office, so I am inside behind a desk most of the day. Going to an air-conditioned gym with no windows? No thanks! Get me outside, in the park...let me feel the fresh air, see the sunset. After an assessment session, Jorge had me perform several re-balancing exercises that had me moving in harmony with my body's current condition and restrictions. And I say this as I work on hiding my "I'm deathly afraid" face but to no avail- they see right through it and thus try their hardest to make that awful "oh man, what am I getting myself into" feeling disappear into the abyss. I must admit, it's hard not to walk in and want to walk right back out. I mean, this is hardcore but I guess chances are if you've signed up for CrossFit, you know what you're getting yourself into. If somehow it was done on a whim and you're completely clueless (like myself), I'm sorry for you but given time, you might find it to be the best option (wait until after the workout to make any decisions). Here's my warning: While this may resemble a gigantic playground for adults, don't be fooled. It's an intense workout not meant for the weak - mentally or physically. You need to be motivated and willing to torture yourself every class. If you're used to the standard method of training, then this will throw your world in a whirl with its circuit-based challenges. The venue itself is located on the corner of US1, not too far from the Aventura area, which is cool. The space seems to be kind of small but since everyone will be on different phases of the workout, it doesn't become an issue so much. Come often enough and from what I can tell, it ends up being a community rather than just "a place to sweat". Yeah, that's cool. But I can't help but wonder if I can have that "community" feeling with something like yoga instead (you know, where I don't have to die repeatedly?). Yeah, yeah. I'm done complaining. Here are my quick take-aways - Yes, it gives you a complete workout in half the time. Yes, it's challenging. Yes, it's for women also (true story, bro). Yes, you will want to die - before, during and after. O_o Yes, you may get injured (which can be minimized by proper form). Yes, you will feel great (post-workout death). I personally, can't see myself doing CrossFit three or four times a week - just too intense for my liking but it is a great option for those who can maintain such a high intensity workout without injuries. I'll probably just go every once in a while aka when I need to shake things up a bit or when I feel the desire to REALLY kick things into high gear.
