This used to be my go to place until I saw extremely unhygienic and unsanitary practices. When I sat down for the pedicure, it was so nice to see a bag being opened of what I thought were fresh tools but then I sat down to switch to getting my fingernails done and I saw other nail techs bring their used tools over to the counter and without washing or putting them in a UV sanitizer, they just put them in a bag and sealed it so that the next person would be tricked as I was into thinking they got new, clean tools. Needless to say, I was horrified because I had been nicked during. When I got home, I had a nice breakout of itchy, red rash on one of my feet. Of course, I will never be going back there and neither should anyone else. They actually need to be reported to the Board of Health. read more

By far the best manicure I have ever gotten. I got a set of SNS extensions for $45. The woman who did my nails (I believe her name was Rainie) took her time and paid such close atttention to detail. My nails were a mess when I came in and they were FLAWLESS when I left. Friendly staff and the owner is extremely personable and professional. Clean, pretty and courteous. Nice selection of colors. Everyone including me were a mask and they provided me with one after the one I came in with her broken and they take your temperature and make you sign a form. They took me in as a walk-in and I also called in five minutes before and they took me and the pedicure is meticulous and it lasted me for a month and I just had a great experience there. My mother in law (MIL) has been coming here for years and recommended that i check them out. I made an appointment (gel mani and regular pedi) on Friday for a Sunday morning appointment. I was greeted at the front desk by, Jason (owner?), who took my temperature and introduced me to Hannah who would do my mani and pedi. Hannah took her time and made sure that I was happy with the service. It was definitely a great service, the salon was clean and I watched as all of the high touched surfaces were cleaned between each client. Great recommendation by my MIL. Called on a Sunday to try and get an appointment right away and they were nice enough to accommodate me. The spa is conveniently located in a small shopping plaza across the street from DeCicco's Supermarket. They were pretty busy but took care of me in a timely manner. What really impressed me is that even though I asked for UV Gel which was going to cost $70, he recommended I get an SNS manicure to give my nails a chance to "recover" from the last few manicures that had left me in bad shape. The SNS was $45 (actually $35 for SNS and $10 for tips because my nails were in bad shape initially). I thought it was very cool of him to recommend something that was less expensive in an effort to give me something better for my situation! Pedicure: girl rushed and was very rough-as you can see per cut on my foot. She did not open new tools. Asked if they were sterile and was told yes. I hope so. During the pedicure she picked up garbage from the floor and resumed pedicure without changing gloves. Who does tha SNS with tips: pedi girl pushed me off onto someone else eventhough I was told same person would be doing both. At first I was relieved because I figured tis one would be gentler. But no. Fingers on both hands were bleeding. I had asked at the beginning that she use a new file and drilling tool. She looked at me like I was nuts. To add insult to injury, she dug into my nails with her dirty fingernail to separate the glue from my fingers. I told her that hurt and to stop. The last straw was when she returned the steel pushing tool and nippers back into her drawer without cleaning them, which means the next person will be exposed to my blood. Thankfully I have nothing to pass along but did the person before me? I pray I don't get an infection. Contacted the owner yesterday and told him I would be coming in to show him my hands and foot. He had already seen this review so knew what to expect. He took me to the back-of course he would not like clients to hear our conversation. He looked at my foot and started to go down the road of "skin looks intact" and I asked him if he actually thought this was an acceptable pedicure. He told me I should not have done the callous remover-to which I replied that I always get callous remover when getting a pedicure. The difference is that the nail tech doesn't put her full body weight into scraping the skin off my feet. He told me I have sensitive skin. Yes, and shouldn't that have been apparent to two different employees? It felt like he was putting blame on me for errors in judgment and carelessness/disregard on the part of his staff. I have been getting manis/pedis longer than he's been alive and certainly do not need to be schooled on what to request. He reassured me the tools were sterilized and I reiterated to him that the nail girl gave me a hard time when I asked for a new file and drill piece and how she put the nippers and cuticle pusher back in her drawer after using them on me. After he went on for way too long I asked him how he was going to make this right and he asked me what I wanted. I told him I wanted my money back, which he refunded. He obviously was not pleased with my review. He should be more concerned with properly training his staff and about me getting an infection. I am so disgusted. Fingers on both hands hurt as does my foot. Just what I need when I have to cook, bake and wrap. What should have been a relaxing experience turned into something awful. read more

Worst customer service ever! I made an appointment to get a mani/pedi. It was pretty quiet and the usual girl I go to wasn't there so two other people helped me. They were in a rush to leave by 6:40pm when they don't close until 7pm and I told them the polish my toes didn't match and I wanted to change it. They told me I could come back. Meanwhile I had an appointment and they are still working on my nails and I wasn't happy. The guy Michael tells me that I can come back and blame him!!!!! What is that all about. If you can't take people at 5:15pm and give them the service they came in for then they shouldn't have taken my appointment. I wasted $60 and will never go back. I'm new to the area and decided to give One Up a try. From the moment I entered, I felt a calming sensation. No wait, friendly staff, very clean facility with nice jazz music playing in the background. They had a great selection of nail polish and there was no strong scent of acrylic or polish filling the air. I went here for the first time the other day. I will DEFINITELY be going back...this place is amazing. The facility is incredibly immaculate. They use disposable plastic covers on all of the foot tubs. CC did my mani/pedi. and I could not be more pleased an impressed. She cut and filed my nails exactly as I instructed. This was my best manicure yet. You will also be pampered. After exfoliating my legs, she used hot rocks and then gave me and incredible leg and foot massage. She then did my nails, after doing an amazing hand massage and cuticle removal. When all is said and done, while your hands and feet are drying she gave me an amazing back massage...soooo good. I will definitely be back. At the risk of letting out a well kept secret, the prices are very affordable too ($30 for the mani/pedi). I recommend One Up for yourselves or for a gift. I started going here when I received a gift card from someone who never tried this nail salon. I went for a few months and was not happy at all. 1st of all only a few ppl in this salon can fix a nail. Every time I made an appointment and said I needed a nail fixed I would have 1 person start the manicure and always have to wait for 1 of 2 ppl to finish their customer to fix my nail and then the 1st person would finish. I've never seen that anywhere and this salon has at least 10 ppl working at one time. I also have natural nails and not sure why they won't use a regular nail file but insist on using the electric file. 2 of my nails were filed so far down on one side that they became so sensitive to the touch and also the nail looked aweful. My nails have also been splitting since I've been going there and I've had my nails done for 40 yrs and never had this happened. And when u are there u can always hear a pin drop bcuz no one talks to their clients ever. It also looks like they rinse their utensils and put them back in a reusable pkg. Upon my 2nd visit here, the quality of work is great but wait time has been a bit too disappointing each time - apparently weekend afternoons are a very busy time and they seemed to be understaffed.
