THIS IS THE WORST NAIL SALON EVER!!! I was in the area and stopped by because the salon had recently been renovated. Do not let the cleanliness fool you. I had asked for a regular French pedicure no gel. The regular costs $35 vs. gel $68. The price gap is insane. The paint job was horrible seriously a 10 year old can do better. I honestly think they were just annoyed I didn't go with gel. After spending nearly 2 hours for regular polish I finally sit to dry my nails. The nail tech starts massaging me which I assume comes with the service because she never stated otherwise. When I go up to pay I'm being charged $62!!! $15 for a 10 minute massage plus other hidden fees. This is ridiculous!! Sneaky employees trying to charge you all because I decided to try and save some money getting regular polish. Unbelievable. Disgusting service and a complete waste of time and money. This place is very clean and has a lot of technicians so there isn't wait time. It's also my friend's favorite salon. They accommodated me immediately and I chose a spa pedicure. During the cuticle trim she was aggressive and cut me resulting in bleeding. The manicure was good, although she nicked my cuticle (no blood). During my mani I watched every client during their nail drying get a free massage. That's their thing. You get a massage...and a good one! It lasted a long time. When I went to the drying station the ladies were giving two women massages for about 5 more minutes (they had already been with them for awhile). When they finished, the women both walked away and started cleaning try salon. Another woman who had just gotten a mani also didn't get a massage. I spoke to the manager and the ladies came back and gave us both massages. My lady finished within minutes. Yet the woman across from me was still getting hers. I paid $55 and was cut yet received a less than stellar massage. And someone who paid $10 was enjoying a nice long massage. She still was getting it after I paid, gathered my things and walked out the door. It's absurd. I received no apology from the manager about the cut. No discount. Nothing. I won't be back. read more

Peasantry Behavior. My sister and my niece went in here for their nails and were trying to get scammed for tips. My sister wanted regular wax and the woman was insistent on giving her sensitive wax for free but in exchange for gratuity. My sister said no several times. They were very annoyed when she kindly declined a massage. So tacky. After tipping everyone they ran out of change and had to go back to the front for more cash. Before the staff could figure out what was going on They ran after her demanding tips for their services!!! This was humiliating and a annoying. Perhaps some training on professionalism is in order. I've gone to this place off and on for years now. Not sure if this review will replace my previous one. I called yesterday to confirm the pricing for a full set of silk wraps; lady who answered the phone said $60 and $35 for fillings, so I made the appt. I sat down with Sara, who I asked at least 3-4 times to make sure it was $60. She said yes. Although the whole process took probably close to 2 hrs (!), she seemed very rushed. When I was asked to pay, she said "oh, it's supposed to be $65 but I'll give it to you for $60" I thought "uh yeah it better be $60, I only confirmed it a million times". My nails are just "ok". The more I look at them, the more disappointed I get. They look rushed and there are spots that aren't covered with the powder and polish. The parts near the cuticles look terrible. I showed the woman up front my concerns and she seemed not to care but said if I have any issues to call. I asked how much for a filling and she said $40, even though when I called earlier she said $35. That all being said, the pedicures are fine and the massages are great!! I will still go back, but not for a filling or any type of nail work more than a simple mani/pedi. read more

I've been using Blooming Nails for 8 years and it is absolutely the best in the area. I have tried others and always come back. It is clean, professional, comfortable, and the women who work there are caring and kind. They do a very good job and some even an excellent job. I've had one or two mediocre manicures here but usually by someone new or in training and that's how they learn. They are always willing to make it right. I find the staff to be willing to go above and beyond to make their clients happy. I've seen the complaints on here about the salon being crowded and the expectation of tipping. It's crowded because it's the best. You wait in line for your favorite restaurant and make an appointment for your favorite hair salon weeks in advance, why should a good nail salon be any different? With regard to tipping, this is a service business--tipping is expected. Just like in a restaurant the waitstaff make less than minimum wage because tips are expected. They charge $10 for a manicure-that's nothing. A bottle of Essie nail polish costs $9. It has to cost more than $10 just to have the tech there and the doors open. And how much of that $10 do you think the nail tech gets? My guess? $3-4. If that. For 30-45 minutes of work. The massages are amazing and yes they are free-with the expectation of a tip. Do you expect these people to work for nothing? Come on. Finally, with regard to complaints about some people getting longer massages or "She got one and I didn't," it's a service business. They have regulars they want to keep happy, I am sure. If you were in their place and a regular who you know tips $10 for a massage is waiting next to a new person who you have no idea if she tips, or she tipped the nail tech $2 and was rude about it, who are you going to head for? It's not that they are being rude to you, it's that they are trying to make a living. They count on their regular customers and treat them well. So, tip well and you won't have complaints. This is by far the best salon in the area. I recommend it 100%. Are there going to be bad days and mistakes made? Of course. But they absolutely make up for it in consistency, quality, and kindness. read more

I can't believe the reviews this place has gotten. I LOVE Blooming. I live in NYC now but when I used to live in this area, this was my usual nail salon of choice. I would come here all the time for mani and pedis. Everyone that works there is so nice and they remember you when you come back. All the mani pedis I've had, have been great. I get gel manis a lot and they last SO long, they never really chip, they just grow out after about 3/4 weeks. I love the wax they put on your heels when you get a pedicure! Sometimes they give you a massage when your nails or drying or if your getting gel, but sometimes they are so busy they don't have time for one, which is disappointing because its a great massage, but understandable. I'm done with this salon. I've been going here for over 5 years and since the new ownership it just plain sucks going here. The pedicures used to be wonderful and now it is so awful I hate going! And they started to nickel and dime their customers over the UV gel manicure filings. My nails are just fine only coming in every 3 weeks for a filling and now they started to try to force me to get a base fill which is $55 instead of the $35 fill. I don't have time to go sit in a salon for two hours every other week. I go when I absolutely have to. Well, they just lost a loyal customer. Goodbye for good. Blooming is not the fanciest of nail salons, but they were offering a special where you could get a paraffin wax hand treatment for your hands when you get a manicure. I was sold. The salon has a lot of OPI and Essie colors to choose from. The wait is pretty long, so if you want to get in and out of the salon, book an appointment. I was waiting for both my pedicure and manicure for quite a few minutes. They will throw in a free massage - I found the massage to be a little bit painful (kind of defeats the purpose, right?). Although "free" probably isn't the best way to describe it because a manicure and pedicure, no matter which day of the week it is, costs $35. This is more expensive than some of the other salons in the area. I had to deduct a whole bunch of stars, not only for the wait, but because the technician cut me while she was clipping my cuticles. It was painful and she didn't even disinfect the area with alcohol or anything - I had to do it when I got home. A week later, and the cut still stings. I really wish I could give this salon a better rating because my manicure has hardly chipped and it's been over a week. But the fact that I might have to have my foot amputated or contract gangrene has me pretty set on my opinion. read more

In the Cortlandt/Peekskill area, this is the best nail salon around. The best feature of this salon is that they have several employees whose only job is to give massages to clients who are getting manicures - and not just a two minute massage at the end, but a full-on ten to fifteen minute massage up and down your neck. Second best feature is the environment - really clean, home-like feel with comfy couches, fluffy pillows, and nice décor. They do have a giant tv-screen, but they usually play tapings of live concerts like Michael Buble or Mariah Carey so if that's your thing, then this is your place. Everything is super clean and the technicians are very nice - I didn't feel like they were trying to sell me anything. The techs here also get major points for accommodating me so that I could get a pedicure after suffering a bad knee injury. I came in with a knee brace, and the techs adjusted the massage chair so that I didn't have to bend my leg. They were really nice and gentle about it - I appreciated the special attention. The only reason this place didn't get five stars is that they are closed on Sundays (which is usually the only time I can go to get my nails done) and they can seem a little pricey. I think that the services they offer are well worth the price, but the total can add up to more than I'd ideally like to spend, especially after adding a second tip for the tech who gave me the massage. I still think it's worth the extra money to come here - they do a great job and I always come out feeling really relaxed and pampered. read more

I've been a customer for about 5 years. They are clean, sterilize instruments and disinfect the foot baths etc. They are so very nice, the customers are a pleasure to sit and chat with as well. You get what you pay for. I feel safe here, no disease spread, just smiles! I have been going to this salon for about three years. I love how clean it is (they wipe down and sterilize all foot tubs and tools when each person is finished) and the staff is very friendly. My favorite part is the free massage they give while your nails are drying, and it's a huge reason why I went out of my way to go here, however the past few times I have gone the ladies that massage you have been a bit off putting. They speak to each other in Spanish while I'm trying to relax, and a lot of the time I end up waiting for a while for them to come massage me. It's frustrating and I end up spending more time there than I wanted to because I go there specifically for the massage. I have been coming here for years. My favorite is Kim ! She is sweet, accommodating and gives a great relaxing pedicure. All the workers are really friendly and do great work. The place is nice and clean. I always see them Cleaning well after each pedicure. The only negative that I have experienced is that sometimes they overbook. I have had appointments and have waited up to 20 minutes. I think they take anyone that walks in even if they have appointment. The best part of coming to Blooming's is the massage. That you sometimes get 2 times adding up to 15 -20 minutes. If it is very busy and you are not a regular they may not get to you. The gel customers get treated like royalty. Very clean and the help is always friendly making sure you are comfortable. I try to stay away before holidays or Friday afternoons. I went to blooming nails with my twin sister when I had won a $25 gift card there. It was so calm and relaxing and the ladies that did our nails were nice and good. We got great manicures! But the only problem was that when we asked if we could get a flower on our nails. (Flowers don't shouldn't cost any money I thought.) They said OK. But instead they made a huge fancy flower that was pretty, but it cost $5 extra dollars!! And they didn't even tell us that it cost extra!! Good thing I had enough money left on my card to cover that though!!:) Other then that it is a very calm and relaxing place to get your nails done there!! Over past year 2015-2016 shop has changed. Floors are always dirty, pedicure supply carts missing drawer fronts. No upgrades or Maintenence has been done. Business has become "tacky". Music videos always on large screen tv are fine for teenagers. Volumn always blasting. Previous owners took pride in this shop. These owners don't care. No longer do I consider this place "spa like". The nail technicians can be hit or miss but I have been lucky enough to get the good ones. The gel manicure seems to be quite popular here. Overall, the salon is clean and the staff is friendly. This used to be my favorite nail salon. Super clean, friendly and mani/pedi lasted. Unfortunately they have gotten really popular, so the wait times are unreal, the quality has gone down. They have recently expanded and have new managers ( Diane and Michael not there anymore ). I know the summers are a busy time for these places but the last three visits were horrible. The last visit pushed me over the edge. Besides having to wait 30minutes for a mani, the woman who did my nails was also the one answering the phones. So her attention was definitely not on me, having to get up multiple times, which is why she wound up cutting me. The last time she got up, she had just put the first coat of clear on. I figured I was almost done so just decided to be patient. Then I realized that she sat down with another customer in the front row where they do the gels and tips ( the more expensive services). I called her over and told her my time is valuable also, sitting there for 1 hour for regular manicure! I have never been treated so poorly! In the end I think it's time to find a new place. When the salon first opened I was thrilled and the service was fantastic. While it is nice that they take walk-ins, it can get annoying for those who have scheduled an appointment to get cut-off by someone who has not. One of the best things about this salon is that it is SUPER clean. However, I have a few complaints from recent experience. When I went with my mom to get manicure and pedicures done together, we were supposed to be sitting next to each other. We sat next to each other in the pedicure seats, but for the manicure they had my mom sit while I STOOD by the drying table. Another time I had a wonderful lady painting my nails, but in the middle of her painting my nails the manager made her do something else and he took over. He did a wonderful job, but he was not the person I had requested to do my nails. After these two experiences I have moved to Alice Nails down the road. Which is quieter as well as more reasonably priced. read more
