It has been 110 days since I requested distribution of my funds. Still waiting. I call every Tuesday so they can tell me a different lie. I involved the state insurance commissioner and they lied to him too. I am still waiting for the letter they assured the commissioner had been sent to me on July 1. Now it is August 18. I wish someone would actually get in touch as the automated says we will contact you in two business days and that never happened. I need a replacement check and have provide plan no. , SS no, address and still nothing. The check is obviously lost. They can easily cancel and replace as Broadridge said they would do. Former employer moved our retirement accounts to this place, I've now spent over a year trying to create an account with them to access that 401(k) without success. "Security questions" are supposedly the only way to prove your identity, and if you get anything "incorrect" even spelling (I have no idea if they are telling the truth), the only answer is to contact your plan administrator. My former employer is out of business though, so there is no administrator to contact, and OneAmerica refuses to escalate my issue or to provide any other manner of proof of identity (forms, notary, an office to visit). At this point I've filed a complaint with the SEC as suggested by someone else here and will try again a few times before going to state AG and enlisting a lawyer. I have 2 policies with State Life Insurance Company/One America for more than a decade. On Nov 1, I made beneficiary changes on both policies, via email. One Nov 12, I noticed 4 beneficiary change errors, in my online portal, made by One America. One policy: 1. My husband's address was not changed, per my request. 2. Contingent beneficiary: one of my son's SSN was my husband's SSN. Another policy: 1. My husband's address was not changed. 2. Contingent beneficiary: one of my son's SSN was empty. I called, the first operator was very impatient, told me that they hadn't finished updating my request (for 11 days?), it didn't matter with a wrong SSN for beneficiary, "we don't have a supervisor", then refused for me to talk to a supervisor, put me on hold forever & cut me off while she was "fixing the problems". I called back again; the 2nd operator told me that everything would be corrected per my written request by another department. Today, I noticed that SSNs were corrected, but my husband still had the wrong address listed on both policies. After submitting my request on Nov 1, four workers at One America had worked on my policy changes but still couldn't get it right after two weeks. Will my policy pay out, when I'm in need, due to record error made by One America? This company just wanted to take the money, couldn't even do bookkeeping right, had 103 reviews and 96 were 1 star. Customer service goal is to avoid helping you. My son had a question about his statement. He is on the autism spectrum and takes everything very literally. First we had to make it to an actual person. Don't get me started. First 2 tries I was eventually disconnected for not "providing enough information" When we finally got a person they started asking Jack questions to confirm his identity. When they asked who his employer was he answered by giving her name. He has autism and is very literal. I corrected him and told him to use the name on the statement. Because they heard me helping him answer the question they counted it as a missed question and would not help us further because we has failed to confirm his identity. We were instructd to mail or fax a copy of his license. I asked if we could send it via email - since its not 1995. They said no. After that we tried to create an account to get our answer that way, but the man we spoke to flagged my son's account and we could not. So pitiful. read more

Read BBB They prey on people by using delay tactics, hanging up on customers, advising them to fill out form after form & the incorrect form. We have called 5-6 times and each time we get a vastly different answer. We were told we could only snail mail forms, another said we could email or fax. Another said they would take the request over the phone (no form mailed or emailed). They either don't train people to listen or purposefully train them to tell people incorrect info. One person told us our investment had closed, while another said it was partially funded and another could not find us in the system. We have spent hours on hold waiting to get through and every person tells us something completely different. They are taking our money and investing it in shady stocks/funds and not reporting gains they are making while telling you that your stock lost money. I cannot begin to warn the public about this company enough. File complaints with BBB, SEC and get onto a class action against this shady company. There is something really unethical and illegal this company is doing with your money. If you have retirement or other money or insurance through them, ask around, research about them because you will lose everything with them. read more

I initiated a transfer of my 401(k) to an IRA at a different company. The money was zeroed out of my account with OneAmerica for over a week, but it never made it to my new account. They never called or emailed to tell me the wire didn't hit. Essentially, OneAmerica took my retirement money out of my account and never sent it to my new account. I am horrified that they still have license, given all of the negative reviews by customers having the same exact problem. They make money on the "spread," making sure you don't have access to your own retirement funds and delaying distributions for as long as possible. An insurance model for financial services? I eventually received a check after multiple calls demanding my money, but no emails, updates, etc. were ever sent on status. Macy's does a better job of communicating with its customers. read more

Gaining access to my online account has been a nightmare with OneAmerica. Years ago, I tried to set up my online account. They repeatedly stated they were mailing me codes to my physical address and drew the process out excessively. I'm currently trying to view my account, and I can't gain access. Now I'm being told that I'm not providing the correct security answers, which is absurd given the questions they asked. I've been instructed to contact my employer for assistance. So far App is Great . very easy to use. My wife depends on me to invest her money. She works long hours . She had TransAmerica and she had money taken out into a 401k but they never invested a cent. One of the worst customer support team. Very very unfriendly and rude responses. I have moved my 401K account whenever I join a new organization and never had so much of trouble. The site is very unhelpful and their Customer service team is the worst. They expect us to know their form in and out. I was asked to send a form which I did and got a standard acknowledgment email. Later I got a email reminding me of the same form. It makes me ask two questions, either they don't have a proper system to track communication or they loose their emails. So frustrating! Having the same issues several others are. Every time I call I'm told they're experiencing a high volume of calls. I'm given the option to have them call me back, which I choose. After waiting several hours for a call back, an automated recording says press 1 to accept the call. I do and every time it says "we were unable to reach you" and hangs up. This has happened EVERY time! We can't finalize setting up my wife's 401k until we talk to someone, so I feel like this problem is now costing us money as we're not getting a match each pay period. read more

Garbage organization, terrible customer service -- avoid doing business with this place at all cost. If you ever encounter an issue; you must call them, wait over an hour to speak with them, and they put you on hold for a long time and eventually tell you what you want to hear to appease you to get you off the line with a generic -- a manage will email you a response back (what you want to hear). The email response comes a few days later and is never the resolution they promised on the phone, and you can't respond to the email; you need to call back to the phone and start the entire process over again. It's a ridiculous way of doing business, and your issue will never get resolved -- they will simply wear you down until you give up or you'll continue through the endless loop as you'll never speak on "the manager" on phone or to anyone who can resolve the issue; it's always the same ridiculous process where they say "a manger will email you (the result you want)." These are the most unethical people I've ever encountered in my life, and there is a special circle of hell they'll end-up -- I'm certain of it. read more

If you can't verify one tiny piece of information at the exact moment they ask you they hang up on you. DO NOT use them! I can't wait to get all my money out of this company!! You can't speak to anyone without putting in for a call back that you never know when it will come so if you can't answer the phone right away then you have to call again and wait again for a call back. They use a foreign call center, how do you not have enough agents to help? Oh wait, because everyone wants their money out! My account balance will be 0 by the time I can get it moved! Do not open an Account with this company. I did a mistake of opening 401k. I had money less than 5000 dollars, I left that job and my money vanished. After calling customer services and all I found out they moved my money from 401 k to IRA (understandable) , But their IRA account charges admin fees. and other fees every month. so far in a year they charged me 300$. When I found out I wanted to move my money out (rollover to my new company) guess what they made it difficult to do that. I tried doing it over the web, I am already logged in, I verified my self through several questions and all. Now its time to rollover, I am again being asked to be verified (okay no problem one more hoop I can do that right) , They website says they can't find information to validate me over the questions (ok no problem, I can verify by phone), that what I did , I provided my phone number and got the link. Guess what their phone verification doesn't work. So they say I have to fill the form and upload it. They charge 20$ to issue the check. read more

I started my process on July 10 to get a partial distribution thinking that would be done in 7 to 10 business days. I also filled out a form for a rollover. I got an email on a Saturday stating they needed clarification on my partial distribution. I had to wait until Monday to call to clarify my information. Wednesday, I received another email at midnight stating "Follow Up" and they didn't receive some information. I called and was on the phone with someone for almost 30 minutes stating that I clarified my information. I was transferred to a supervisor who said she was sending the information right over to processing and they should process everything and the partial distribution should be done and in my account. I called today to follow up and spoke to the same supervisor who told me that processing should have it. I said I would like to speak to someone there. She said there is no number for them and the only way she can reach them is via email. I said I would like a call back regarding this because this is taking too long and I keep getting that processing my not have gotten it. After looking at the reviews on the BBB website, it was clear that this company is garbage. read more
