I love the gym but the pool needs a better system…read more I've been increasingly frustrated with the pool experience at OneLife Fitness. This is the second time this week I've gone specifically to lap swim and found a children's private swim lesson being taught at an extremely loud volume right alongside the lap swimmers. Earlier this week, the instructor was so loud that several of us actually stopped swimming and were standing in the pool waiting for the lesson to end. I've swum during British Swim School classes with groups of toddlers and they were considerably less disruptive. Today was worse. I got into the one remaining open lap lane, only to have the same instructor tell me he was teaching a lesson in that lane. At that point I left the pool entirely. Even if I waited for another lane to open, the noise level made lap swimming anything but relaxing or enjoyable. When I spoke to the front desk, I was told there really wasn't anything they could do other than ask the instructor to be quieter. I suggested that, at a minimum, these private lessons should be clearly listed on the pool schedule so members know in advance when part of the lap pool will be occupied and can plan accordingly. I understand that swim lessons are part of a shared pool environment. The issue isn't that children are being taught--it's that paying members trying to use the pool for lap swimming have no warning that lanes may be unavailable, combined with a level of noise that disrupts the entire pool. OneLife needs a better system for scheduling and communicating private swim lessons so lap swimmers can actually use the facility they're paying for.

The gym is HUGE and has a ton of equipment with areas for every lifting style (Olympic, CrossFit, and bodybuilding). It is pretty overwhelming at first but the layout is well thought out and functional so you can find what you want pretty quickly. Huge perk: You can access the gym 24/7. Even though I've been lifting for a long time, I initially felt very intimidated by all the obviously fit people there. Let me tell you, I have not had any bad experiences! It has actually been one of the cleanest, and well thought out centers we've visited on our travels so far. Brian, the trainer and manager, was one of the friendliest guys on the planet!! There was a few very unique machines we had to try and it felt like they had thought of everything to make our workout experience convenient and enjoyable. Free coffee, apples, and even hair bands were available if you forgot yours at home. There's a nice water station too! I was there at 6pm and it was close to empty. The gym has hours, open on weekdays till 7pm and weekends 8till 4. So definitely not 24/7. And if you are a morning workout person, the gym will be crowded with active mil folks getting preference especially during PRT events. All in all the gym is clean, staffed by friendly helpful folks and well equipped. No nonsense gym, not a place to get a date, so where only gear to work out in and if you have to walk from the bowling alley to park, that is part of the workout. Four stars due to not open 24/7.

I love that this location has two levels. The locker rooms, washrooms, massage chairs, tanning beds, etc. are on the main floor and the gym equipment is on the 2nd floor. Thankfully, they do have an elevator to get to the 2nd floor as well as stairs. The gym area was very clean and spacious and fortunately wasn't busy at all. I loved all of the different equipment options and the fact that each area had a cleaning station to ensure all of the equipment was clean and sanitized. The HydroMassage Chair was my favorite part of the whole gym and I definitely will be utilizing it after each workout! If you have access to this Planet Fitness location, definitely check it out! It can be a little crowded at times, but overall people have good gym etiquette and wipes are always available to clean equipment. My only suggestion would be a bit more space--especially in front of the mirrors for free weights, since that area can feel tight. I took one class that was slightly more advanced than I expected, but the instructor offered modifications and everyone was welcoming. The front desk staff are consistently friendly and helpful. I haven't used the pool myself, but family members have and really enjoy it. Overall, it's a solid facility with a positive atmosphere.

There is something for everyone regardless of age. The facilities are well maintained and staffed. Everyone is so friendly and professional. From the moment you walk in someone is greeting you with a smile. What I've noticed that has made an impression on me is that everyone I have encounter seems happy to work there. I highly recommend the centers in our area. I have been to four different ones and I have been impressed with all of them.

You also won't be waiting around to use a machine, never overcrowded. South Beach is a great workout atmosphere and the people are really seriously so nice! This gym breeds winners! If you're looking to train for a competition there're trainers that work right in the gym. They all know how to get the job done, I speak from experience. This doesn't mean there're going to work out for you, sure you're doing all the work, but they can guide and teach you the right way to reach your goals. The only thing I could grip about is the hours. Other than that give it a try, all you've got to lose is pounds! :)
