One Link Communications is about as good as the electric company in Puerto Rico, which is to say it is probably one of the worst service providers in the world.
From the inconsistency in their internet speeds, the hour and a half wait to speak with a service rep located in Santo Domingo and not on the island where they are headquartered (nice, One Link...way to support the local economy of the island) the lack of major programming options like AMC (seriously...they don't even have AMC!) and HD channels, a 40g download threshold, and a management staff who are either incompetent, irresponsible, and downright rude...I have been waiting for two months to get a callback from the customer service manager there (named Randall Martinez), have tried on several occasions to reach him as well, and I am still waiting on a credit for the month my internet service was a trickle if at all..because of local node issues...
The last time I spoke with this manager, he said he would be giving me a credit for the month I had poor service. All I needed to do was call him back the next day...which I did. And he wasn't there like he promised. Since then I have attempted several times to speak with this Randall, and he is either not there or not available.
I seriously doubt there is a worse cable/internet provider on the planet, outside of China, Iran, North Korea or Libya.
With that being said, the only other viable internet option for San Juan is Dmax DSL service. I do not want a home phone line, otherwise I would be switching immediately, and I am not even sure DMAX cxan provide for my location in the suburbs.
Liberty Cable is the provider outside of the metro area, and their customers get all the bells, whistles, consistency in service, 10mbps download, no thresholds, and they offer AMC. But can we tap into Liberty?????
No.
The government has allowed One Link to be the cable monopoly for the metro area...I am guessing money is lining someone's pockets for that.
Since Adelphia was bought out, the service on this island has fallen to sewage levels.
I am hopeful to be leaving this island soon, because the quality of life is crumbling here. I have been here for ten years and have experienced good service and quality from the local cable, water, telephone and electric services in the past. The last four years has seen a complete disintegration of the utilities grids.
When my original home town of 1000 people in rural Minnesota get 16mbps, three different television providers, and never have power or water outages unless there is a major storm ALL AT LOWER PRICING...then clearly Puerto Rico and the companies that service it are going to hell in a hand basket and do not care about their customers.
Serious disconnection from their client base, and that is...I suppose...the result of a monopoly doing whatever they want because they have a captive client-base.
Shame on you, One Link. You are a beacon of ineptitude and avarice. read more
