So, for starts let's get the pros out of the way since there are some... it's a smaller bank feel, where you will be remembered, and treated more like a person then a bank member. This has its flaws as I want professionalism presented over the phone, which the last several times have not been, I'm not trying to provide information like mothers maiden name, social security, etc over a damn phone call... Ron also does a decent job keeping the place together. The dividends offered are okay, but I can get that through almost any brokerage. Let's get to the cons and my biggest issue(which may be a good thing for others) Online banking, their security is so damn overkill if you typo your password once, you're locked out and forced to contact them directly and provide all sorts of information(that again should not be done over the phone, it's 2020. Things stick. Learn a bit more about cyber security, please.) Sorry, but I'm not trying to call and take 10-15 minutes out of my day every time this occurs. It does not reset after a time, and is heavily annoying. Almost enough to make me drop the bank all together, I simply do not have this issue with my other debit cards. Also; if you wish to have the bank take from savings if you do not have sufficient funds in checking automatically you will have to contact them and enable this function. Sort of silly. Lastly, I don't like being put on hold and consistently taken off hold to tell me the representative required to speak to will be with me shortly. Get an automated system, it's a bit annoying. So are automated systems but not as much. I'm just trying to navigate the system as simple as possible with as little interaction and effort as possible. I'm sure there are other pros as well as cons I could provide, just not at this time. As this review is getting lengthy. Maybe if things improve in the future, I will come back to this review and update it but for the time being this is my opinion. In mid 2018 I proposed they manage 40% of my IRA and I will manage the other 60% and see how they compare with my management, and they agreed to do so. I did fairly well, but they did it a bit better, so I felt confident with them taking over all of my IRA and two other portfolios in early 2021. The main reason I did that was to manage my investments for Betty, my wife, should I pass away. AND they did fulfill their commitment to reduce their fees from 1.5% to 1% if they grew their customer base, which they have. But not only due their management my investments but they offer many other services to advise their clients regarding life planning, taxes, etc. And to enjoying living while they are entrusted to handle my investments. I submitted the majority of my forms on 2/16 and clearly communicated that one document was still pending. I uploaded the final form on 3/11 and followed up on 3/16 to confirm receipt--no response. On 3/24, after continued silence, I called the office and was told my return would require an extension and would not be completed by the deadline, which was surprising given how early everything was submitted. That same day, my parents--who have been clients for over 10 years--went into the office and were told that my return was being worked on. On 4/3, I called again for an update and was told there was no clear timeline. When Sam called me back, he admitted he had not even started my return, estimated "next Friday most likely," and then told me to "stop calling" the office. I only reached out a couple of times due to the complete lack of communication on their end. For something as time-sensitive and important as taxes, this level of disorganization and dismissive communication is unacceptable. Update: After posting this review, the firm dropped my parents as clients despite their long-standing relationship of over a decade. While businesses can choose their clients, the timing and handling of this situation further reflect the lack of professionalism and client care described above--especially during tax season.
