The prices are very reasonable and the selection is good. The quality is outstanding. What attracted me to Mario's Meats is the availability of grass-fed beef at a reasonable price. Mario even has wild game meat in the back such as elk, bison, rabbit, venison and others. You should know that Mario's Meats offer delivery if you meet a certain minimum to make the drive worthwhile. Overall, I cannot recommend Mario's Meats enough. I'll be going back very soon for some Mennonite-raised chicken thighs and eggs, as well as grass-fed ground beef. To be clear, Mario has both, 100% grass-fed beef throughout the lifecycle of the cow and grass finished beef, whereby the cow is put on a grass-only diet during the last 3 months before slaughter.

The pizza came with burned crust which definitely was a turn off for me. The toppings were decent. However, I had better pizza somewhere else. It appears a popular spot for locals as it was packed by the time we left after 7 pm. As for me, I wouldn't be going back.

An Unforgettable Evening at Zafferano Ristorante…read more Last night, we had the pleasure of celebrating two of our family members at Zafferano Ristorante. Although we're not from Toronto and had never been to this restaurant before, our friends had booked a large section of the venue for over 30 guests--so we really didn't know what to expect. What followed was nothing short of amazing. We started the evening with some beautifully crafted cocktails. The drinks were delicious, and our waiter was quick to offer creative twists on our usual favourites--setting the tone for the night ahead. When it came time to sit down for dinner, the experience only got better. They kept bringing out plate after plate until we could barely move! The food was phenomenal: every dish was full of flavour, perfectly served at the right temperature, and visually stunning. A special shoutout to our waiter, Alex. He was outstanding--attentive without being intrusive, always ensuring our glasses were full and that every new course arrived with perfect timing. It was an incredible night and the perfect way to kick off our vacation. We left with full stomachs, happy hearts, and memories we'll talk about for a long time.

The meal kicked off with some nice warm, bread that was crusty on the outside and moist on the inside. We shared a few appetizers including Burratina, Gnocco Frito, and Margharita Pizza. The pizza had a nice mildly spicy sauce which made for a very delicious pizza. The Gnocco was fried pizza dough balls with garlic, Parmesan and a drizzle of honey. It normally comes with Prosciutto but we ordered it without to make it vegetarian. The mix of flavours was really unique and delicious. The Burrata was good but the other two appetizers stood out more. For entrees, we had the Spaghetti Genovese and the Stuffed Gnocchi. Both were excellent. Highly recommend this place.

Their homemade focaccia was rich, moist & had a good herb flavour, with some tomato. It was good enough on its own, but it was also served with spicy sauce (pretty spicy) & eggplant sauce (good: rich, with a lot of olive oil). They also served white bread which was ok: a touch dry. Wild boar ragu with gluten free fettuccine was good (while it's not on the menu they did it gluten free for us). Crab gnocchi had a good, rich crab flavour & a lot of crab. Tartufo had chocolate powder outside & strawberry ice cream inside surrounded by chocolate. The ice cream quality was decent. I prefer vanilla and less chocolate for balance in my tartufos but YMMV. Limoncello flauto was excellent. It was a lemon sorbet with a limoncello swirl (not a flute of liquid limoncello). It had a rich flavour & was very refreshing.

Because they were mini cupcakes, I didn't feel guilty eating two and still got a generous amount of icing. They were sweet but not too sweet and they were light and fluffy. Great texture and taste. When I walked into the shoppe, it smelled heavenly. The woman behind the counter was busy chatting with another customer but she called a baker out right away to help me. The first question I asked was, "Do you have anything with bacon?" the baker said, "No, unfortunately, but I wish we did!" Here's to hoping they add a funky bacon cupcake to the menu! I have to say I was disappointed that I could ONLY get mini cupcakes on walk-in (I could have ordered regular size, or even giant cupcakes if I had known in advance) but I suppose mini cupcakes were a good way to get a 'taste' for their product. They had 12 varieties for me to choose from but I only went with 6. I would definitely head back here and may even special order some regular sized cupcakes the next time I have something to celebrate! 4 stars because they had only had mini cupcakes and nothing with bacon. Yeah, I love my bacon that much! ;)
