Great place to stopover and take a break from driving. There's a large food court inside with Tim Hortons, Pizza Pizza, Wendy's, KFC/Taco Bell, New York Fries, Mr Sub and Manchu Wok. There's a tourist info desk to get maps, brochures on attractions, get directions. Petro Canada gas station also on site if you need to fill up. This is probably the best rest stop when entering Niagara region. read more

This is a great rest stop area while traveling in Ontario. The washrooms were clean. We arrived around 9am on a Tuesday and there weren't any lines at Tim Horton's. The Tim Hortons here offers London Fogs (unlike their American counterparts), and cheese biscuits (American Tim Hortons only offer the ham and cheese biscuits.) The service was fast. There are many different places to choose from to eat at, but they weren't open so early when we were there. There is also a little shop to get snacks, and souvenirs. Also, there is a great kiosk with information and pamphlets, and helpful staff. read more

This is MUST stop whenever we travel across the border to Niagara Falls or even just Hamilton. It's a good place to get out and stretch, take a washroom break and grab a coffee. Keep in mind if there are tour buses, the line-ups will be long for both the washrooms and food court. There is a visitor information booth, Wendy's, NY Fries, Manchu Wok, Tim Horton's, KFC/Taco Bell, Dairy Queen, Sbarro, and a convenience store. Washrooms are clean unless it's super busy. Husband and I usually don't stop when we go to Toronto, but today we decided to use this rest stop. I don't know if it was because it's a Sunday, but there weren't a lot of stores open. This place looks like a circular food court with about 8+ different options. There were only about 2-3 open today and the rest of them were closed. :/ I think the main store people go to here is the drive-thru Tim Hortons. The restrooms were pretty gross too. The toilets in the women's restrooms were really low and the seats were not cleaned. The restroom was really dark and cramped. I don't know why this place has such great reviews. :( read more

I loved this rest stop. Once inside there's a little of everything. A great and informative tourist info area. Then a restaurant for everyone - Wendy's, Tim Hortons, a fries place, a Chinese place, a Mediterranean one and probably some I'm missing. There are tables in the middle, it's more or less a round place, and they were clean when I was there. The restrooms are clean. The parking lot is what gets me to 3 stars only. It's just difficult. Unclear how to get in or out. The drive through lanes are in the middle of the lot. Busses everywhere. It's just plain difficult. So loosing a star there. read more

On my way down from Toronto to Niagara Falls, me and my bf stopped at this rest stop for a quick breakfast and some gas. They have everything here for food, but we got some Tim Hortons and poutine from next door. It's not bad. It's good for a rest stop if you ask me! They have everything you need in the food court, an information center at the front and clean washrooms. I can't ask for much more ! read more

This is right off the Grimsby exit, exit 74, if you're on your to the US. I had planned to stop here because they have several fast food options; Tim Horton's, Dairy Queen, KFC, Taco Bell, etc. My food from Tim Horton's was just ok. There were some flies flying around the donut case that I didn't notice until after I ordered. Yum. I'm vegetarian, and I walked around after I ordered, and saw that KFC has a veggie chicken sandwich. Had I known that ahead of time, I'd have definitely tried that. Instead I had a Beyond burger from Tim Horton's. I stopped in the restroom, and it was actually a pretty nice restroom as far a rest stops go. However, a girl had just mopped the floor, and it was SOAKED! I don't know if that's how they always mop or if something had happened, but there was like a half an inch of water on the floor. It was pretty gross, and slippery. Overall, it's not the worst place to stop on a road trip. read more

I recently took a trip to Niagara & the US with my family. This is a stop I have made for more than 15 years now on the way to the Falls. What in the world has happened to this place!?!? If you see any pictures online, they must have been taken when it first opened. It's dimly lit, VERY dirty and a big huge mess inside! Honestly, i didn't even know this was an info centre. They should be ashamed to advertise this spot as an information centre to tourists etc. The food selection is your standard food court fare: New York Fries, Sbarro, Tim Hortons, KFC/Taco Bell, Wendy's etc. Wendy's Kids Nugget combo 1/5: How in the world can you mess this one up?!? Nuggets were hard to bite into and fries were undercooked. My son is a french fry eating machine - took a bite of one and asked me to toss them in the garbage! There were kids playing around with the self serve pop machines. Pushing buttons repeatedly which resulted in pop spilling out everywhere all over the floor. None of the 4 people working at Wendy's seemed to care, so the kids kept playing with the buttons and laughing when pop spilled out everywhere on the floor. New York Fries: 1/5: Hot dog, poutine & drink combo: I upsized my poutine from a small to a regular. Which actually ended up being only half full and the size of a small NYF poutine i would order at a shopping mall food court. The weirdest part was when i asked what the price difference was, rather than say $2, $3 etc to upsize, he said the combo costs $14.00. I don't know if he made up a number or if that was the price, just strange that he rounded it off to $14.00. Hot dog was undercooked and they were using Wonder bread hot dog buns, which i've never seen at any hot dog stand or fast food franchise. They kept trying to open the buns and they were just splitting right in half, not holding the hot dog. Waste much?!? The washrooms? I would give a minus 10 if i could! Geez, this is the most important reason to stop here when travelling with 2 kids under 10 and you've been in the car for almost 90 min. The washrooms were so disgusting, my 7 year old was almost in tears over having to use them (we went to Starbucks across the road). They looked like they hadn't been cleaned since the day before. Paper everywhere, stalls not cleaned. To disgusting to get into detail. Only 2 guys were cleaning tables, but were nowhere to be found when needed. Food all over the floor, tables & chairs. OK. Normally I wouldn't review a rest stop, and I certainly wouldn't be inclined to give many rest stops a 4-star "Yay!" But Gateway Niagara is just that good, people. It's just. that. good. If a rest stop stands out to me in my mind and becomes a road-trip destination, it's time to Yelp that bad boy. We drive to and from Muskoka Lakes every summer, an 11-hour pilgrimage that is oh, so worth it, but oh, so tiring. Gateway Niagara Info Centre is like a welcome beacon for us, we stop off there on our way back to the States each summer -- why? It's clean. It is *so* freakin' clean, restrooms included. Thank you, Canada! It's big, open, spacious, and classy. Yes, I called a rest stop classy. It has Taco Bell, my favorite road trip indulgence, and it has my favorite Canadian/border state indulgence, Timmy Ho Ho's (that's Tim Horton's to us Yanks). It also has an Au Bon Pain-style bakery cafe and a convenience store selling maps, mugs, magnets, and all manner of Cadbury delights...why can't we get Cadbury on the regular down here, I ask? It has petrol (that's gasoline to us Yanks. Sike, Canadians don't call it petrol.). It's rare a rest stop is *actually* a welcome relief from the road, but Gateway Niagara sure is that rest stop for me. read more

This is a rest-stop area that is pretty similar to an OnRoute (for Canadians) or a Thruway Service Plaza (for New Yorkers.) It's located on the Southbound side of the QEW in Grimsby. They've got a number of fast food franchises inside, very food court like. There's everything from a Tim Horton's to a KFC, with several other options in between, as well as a convenience store and some Niagara Region tourism info. There's a Canadian Tire Gas nearby, and most importantly when you've drunk a large coffee right before leaving Buffalo, large and spacious bathrooms. Although at the time I was visiting, most of the food was closed, the Tims was open, both drive through and inside. So this is definitely a good place to stop if you need to fill up or make a quick pit stop. read more

I use this rest stop for my nap time when I drive to buffalo for school at 5:00AM. I love that it is always busy with people and cars for the drive thrus: Wendy's and Tim horton's. there are Italian eatery, Mediterranean, Chinese, burger places, cages, convenience store, and of course, clean washrooms. read more

This is a great place to stop partway between Toronto and Buffalo. Lots of food choices and clean restrooms, and a surprisingly decorative tourist information centre, although the gas is pricey. I'm taking off a whole star because they got rid of Michel's Baguette. Now the only coffee there is Tim Horton's, which tastes like dishwater and doesn't keep me awake on the road. I hope they get something that more closely resembles coffee soon, or I'll be finding a new halfway point. read more

Good variety of fast food including KFC, Wendy's, DQ, Michel's Baguette & Taco Bell, very clean, lots of coupons at Info Centre for all Niagara attractions. Nice, spacious, rustic. We stopped here on the way back from Niagara Falls. As Ontario service centers go, I was surprised at how busy and lively this one is, especially after Dalton McGuinty destroyed tourism in Fort Erie. There are several fast food restaurants, and a neat waterfall. read more

I have never been so disgusted by a Tim Hortons in my entire life. I went to order a coffee and a sandwich and I was appalled to see all of the flies and bugs swarming around the employees and the food. Flies were landing all over the donuts, bagels, etc. I was absolutely disgusted. In addition to this, I found a hair in my sandwich. There is no way that this Tim Hortons is up to code. If you are looking for a place to grab a snack while en route, I would advise against this particular Tim Hortons. Absolutely disgusting. read more

For a visitor's centre, the washroom facilities were the worst I saw on my 12 day trip. The summer would be high travel time obviously, but staff should clean the floors, re-fill products etc. read more
