There's no actual class, you can bring your own supplies to work on your own projects without interruptions. There's no fire glaze fee or any fee to use the building. It's pretty quiet inside, most people are in the ceramics room. There's a good amount of pottery wheels. They also host class events with artists as well to learn book binding or screen printing. I cohosted a private event with them to paint our dogs in a beach landscape and it turned out…read morepretty well! Their prices were very reasonable and they were very accommodating to our requests such as allowing our dogs in the studio while we paint. We communicated beforehand to organize the private event to make sure the date/time slot was open, security deposit was met, payment was collected fairly, and we agreed upon an example painting that I found online. They pre-sketched a generic version of our dog beforehand with the set up of supplies and they instruct and guide us through the painting process. They demonstrate and show us what colors to use. They basically guided us through how to get the basic foundation of our painting and then we have the chance to personalized and add more to our liking. Everyone painted the same concept of painting but all of the paintings turned out differently so that was neat! They come around and help you with your painting if you have any questions. They also kindly refill any paint colors you need more of as many times as you need. They also offered a complimentary glass of wine (rosé) to everyone as well. Everything was very chill and relaxed. It's an intimate setting with a capacity of 14 people. One guy instructed the painting process while the other guy served our wine and gave us some facts about Pomona. They were both very friendly! I think this is a good opportunity for people who have never painted to try things out and also a nice opportunity for more experienced painters to just play around. It's also a cool thing to do to hang out and be creative! Our time slot was from 10am-12:30pm but we ended up starting about 20 minutes late because they were still setting the supplies up and some people were running late and we finished around 1:40pm but they didn't even rush us to leave! They also cleaned everything up for us when we were done. My friend and I accidentally broke one of their wine glasses and they also didn't mind! Sorry and thank you for the hospitality! I'm actually going to cohost another event with them again in May cause I had so much fun! Free parking is available behind the building, on the street, or by the train tracks across the street.

I've been a frequent visitor of The Shoppes at Chino Hills so as someone who usually does his best…read moreto keep track of any community art events, I was a little embarrassed to just find out about this space, which while large, seems a bit tucked away from the busier areas of the shopping plaza. The Chino Hills Downtown Art Gallery is a great gallery that showcases a myriad of community art from local artists of all different ages and backgrounds, with some being able to be purchased at different prices points. Art from local competitions were also showcased. Paintings, photographs, and sculptures made up the diversity of the art. On the particular day we visited, programs that supported artists that were accessibility challenged were featured and it was also a great opportunity for us to learn about these great programs. In addition, the people volunteering at this space were also incredibly friendly and informative. I highly recommend visiting AND supporting this area if you're looking for a reprieve from shopping at The Shoppes.

Rancho Embroidery is a mom and pop shop inside Rancho Mall. Once you enter through main doors, walk…read moreto your first right and they will be on your left hand side. Super quick same-day service! I dropped off my grad sash to get 4 areas embroidered. 3 areas were $20 and one area was $15. Total was $75+tax. I've called different embroidery shops as well as contacted some places via Yelp and they all quoted me 7-10 days or 2-3 weeks as turnaround time since we are getting into the busy grad season. Rancho Embroidery is super quick with their service: dropped off sash at 2:45pm, received text it was ready at 4:00pm and I arrived to pick it up at 4:45 pm just before they closed at 5:00pm. They do close on Tuesdays. Note that for greek letters, they only have one type of font available. The owner and his wife show you the sketch on the computer and then they will put tape on the sash to make placement of where you want the embroidery to be. I highly recommend them for rapid turnaround service!

I think $5 a fair price considering the museum's size, though-- it's more or less just 3 rooms. To be honest, I didn't like this current set of exhibits that much, but that's probably just a matter of taste. It's also located near a lot of other cool stuff in Claremont.

When I went they were putting up art from a local person, and they said they do it every month to get exposure for young artists. Later, I came back on a Saturday and they had live bands rocking out in the parking lot. Seems like everything they do is for the community. Even their prices try to not be too high. This is the physical headquarters of the Pomona Valley Art Association. It is also a co-op gallery…read morecalled "Gallery SoHo." I showed at this gallery for almost a full year, and I still serve as the newsletter editor for the association. There are a few issues with this gallery: 1)The gallery is more of a boutique then an art gallery. Yes there are a lot of paintings on the walls, but the presentation makes it feel like a boutique. The walls are painted different colors (yellow, green, rust/orangy color). It looks nice, but when it comes to vewing the artwork it's very overwhelming. There are a lot of nice pieces of art, a variety of style and media, but there is so much on the walls it's hard to see any one piece individually. It feels a bit crammed. 2) The lighting is really bad, and there is no AC. This is not nessecarily the PVAA's fault. The Owners of the property (Jeved) have refused to bring this and most of their buildings in Pomona into the modern age. There are fans running in the summer, but it's just not enough. If you have the patience to look through everything, you will find a few artworks that you'd like to take home. The prices are very reasonable and there are no commisions-all the money from a sale goes to that artist. Each month there is a "monthly show" with a different theme that anyone can enter. There is a specific wall dedicated to this show. All entries are displayed (no work is rejected unless there is a technical issue-i.e. video/computer work), the winners win anything from art supplies to cash, you can enter any and all monthly shows, and the money made off of the entries goes into gallery expenses, and prizes for the student shows they host. The Association is starting to bloom. It is a non-profit dedicated to creating inexpensive and free venues for members to show their artwork. They also offer classes. It costs $20.00 a year to be a member, which includes discounts on the monthly and annual shows they produce, as well as a subscription to the newsletter. To exhibit in Gallery Soho, it is $15.00 a month, plus 5 hours a month of working the gallery.
