The venue for this particular class was a bar in Chino Hills. Before the class we had the chance to get drinks and a bite to eat. Service here was slow but friendly. Room size was huge for our class and there were maybe 40 to 50 students to 1 instructor. She uses a microphone and speakers but being a bar it was sometimes hard to hear. Our instructor did a great job at explaining the techniques to novices like us. Our instructor would walk the room and provide assistance to those struggling (like me ) We all had a great time st LPT and look forward to many returns!

So, I'm curious to why Taylor hall doesn't invest a little more money to jazz the place up some more. Reminds me of a school gym where you have your school dances. If you wanna have your wedding or something here you're gonna need to really deck the place all out. Don't go cheap in that aspect. Overall, this place isn't my cup of tea but for others it may be a good location to host an event. You be the judge.

They definitely limit the tasting options compared to the large selection of wines they actually have. That said, the restaurant itself looked nice and clean, and the glasses were sturdy and easy to swirl in. We got the spiced berry zen and shoguns cloud. The berry zen had matcha and gin complemented each other so well. The hojicha and the shochu complemented the shoguns cloud amazingly. We ended up also doing a sake flight with 3 types of sake and they were delicious. The owner talked to us for a while and it was informative and fun. She's amazing. This is the physical headquarters of the Pomona Valley Art Association. It is also a co-op gallery…read morecalled "Gallery SoHo." I showed at this gallery for almost a full year, and I still serve as the newsletter editor for the association. There are a few issues with this gallery: 1)The gallery is more of a boutique then an art gallery. Yes there are a lot of paintings on the walls, but the presentation makes it feel like a boutique. The walls are painted different colors (yellow, green, rust/orangy color). It looks nice, but when it comes to vewing the artwork it's very overwhelming. There are a lot of nice pieces of art, a variety of style and media, but there is so much on the walls it's hard to see any one piece individually. It feels a bit crammed. 2) The lighting is really bad, and there is no AC. This is not nessecarily the PVAA's fault. The Owners of the property (Jeved) have refused to bring this and most of their buildings in Pomona into the modern age. There are fans running in the summer, but it's just not enough. If you have the patience to look through everything, you will find a few artworks that you'd like to take home. The prices are very reasonable and there are no commisions-all the money from a sale goes to that artist. Each month there is a "monthly show" with a different theme that anyone can enter. There is a specific wall dedicated to this show. All entries are displayed (no work is rejected unless there is a technical issue-i.e. video/computer work), the winners win anything from art supplies to cash, you can enter any and all monthly shows, and the money made off of the entries goes into gallery expenses, and prizes for the student shows they host. The Association is starting to bloom. It is a non-profit dedicated to creating inexpensive and free venues for members to show their artwork. They also offer classes. It costs $20.00 a year to be a member, which includes discounts on the monthly and annual shows they produce, as well as a subscription to the newsletter. To exhibit in Gallery Soho, it is $15.00 a month, plus 5 hours a month of working the gallery.

This is the oldest existing home in the Pomona Valley, built in 1837 by Ignacio Palomares. Look for the Sunday tours available every other month for $5 a person! The tour lasts 30 min and you need to reserve a ticket ahead of time. It's slightly cooler in the adobe building but only about 10 degrees, so bring water and a fan if you get easily overheated. Jennifer is very friendly and knowledgeable. She tells you the stories and lore of the building, each room, and the grounds with expertise and humor.
