Hate leave a bad review. Ford is a great provider, but... Looks like onvida is pulling a new billing scam. At the ENT clinic we had to sign an agreement that its a hospital service and a physician service and a hospital service will be charged. There will be a charge and a copay for both. I'd like to downgrade the review from two stars to zero stars, what is noted in the first section, doctor Ford is still a good provider. Unfortunately, the front office was an exercise in futility to be generous. We were unable to schedule the follow-up visit and were told to call back in a month. Then we tried to schedule to get hearing AIDS. They gave us a printed sheet of paper to call somebody else, and they started commenting about insurance that isn't ours, and finally realized they weren't even looking at the correct account. They were looking at somebody else's chart entirely. Obviously more annoyed than embarrassed at their incompetence, at that point they just tried to do everything they could to get us out of the office as fast as possible instead of taking care of us. I am not even angry. I'm appalled. How can a health care provider? They just said they were going to double charge and double co pay then say we just don't want your money. Go away. We're too incompetent to take care of you. I think they need to have their hearing checked. They said you may have to pay it out-of-pocket and then I said i'm aware of that. I'll pay it in cash $100 bills if necessary. So why in the hell couldn't they schedule it. read more

This is a tough one. Most (not all) of the actual providers are okay to great, but the company is mercenary and has inappropriate clerical and front office staff training. Mercenary: Two charges and two copays for a (not at the hospital) visit to see one provider for one service. Maybe its legal, but its certainly morally ambiguous. Poor Training: Unable to schedule follow up visit at time of current visit. Have to call back in a month. More Poor Training: Tried to schedule a different service and was handed a number to call somebody else for an insurance company we don't even have. Then I realized they were looking at somebody else's account. Instead of apologizing and trying to get things straight they just seemed to want to get us out of the office as fast as possible. Saying they would check with our insurance and call us. It's not covered by the insurance I was willing to pay out of pocket, but they never even let it get to that point. My mom needs hearing aids. I'm willing to pay in cash with $100 bills if need be, but Onvida's ENT clinic on Avenue B just wanted to get rid of us. Generally, Dr Patrick Ford is a great provider there, but he could stand to know a little more about the other directly related services within the clinic. I'd give Dr Ford 4 stars, but Onvida as an organization would get just 1. Given that the cost of Onvida (a community non-profit medical organization) is among the most expensive in the country, my experience today taking my mom to see the doctor was very disappointing. I went with my mom today with every intent of doing whatever was necessary to get her hearing aids going, and left feeling like Onvida doesn't want our business at any price. I can assure you, that of the ones who never "said" anything, they didn't have to. It's written all over their faces, you see them start out excited & eager to care for you, but that quickly diminishes as you see their demeanor change before your eyes, and ultimately confirmation comes when they're GONE! Onvida you get an A++ in finding & hiring/contracting some excellent providers, but you get a F- in retaining those providers and providing top level Customer Service. The girls at the reception desks are almost all very pleasant & personable, it's getting past them to someone to actually discuss a problem with where it all falls apart. Unfortunately, my recommendation if you need good, continuity of care, go to Phoenix. For Neurology, you can't beat Barrows Institute. Everything else, try Mayo or Banner Health. While things start out promising at Onvida, my experience has resulted in sheer disappointment & frustration over the years. It takes a lot for me to resort to a long winded, bad review. I would tell you about the bad experience. However, I'm still experiencing it. My wife came up here six weeks ago six weeks ago. She was diagnosed with liver cancer later on. They found lung cancer. She has flued that accumulates in her lungs. Every 3 days they have done nothing to address this issue. They have drained her lungs. 9 times they should have put a catheter in after the second time. Then, I could take her home. I think she could make her appointments. So far, the fluid builds up every 3 days. So it's impossible for her to make her appointments is awes. To treat her cancer. Exceptional place. I live in California and my father lives here in Yuma. He fell and broke his hip. So I came from Northern California to help my dad with his broken hip and surgery. When we arrived to the emergency room, we were met by professional and attentive team of ER nurses to help in placing him to a gurney. Ryan and Elizabeth, our ER nurses were so friendly and kept us apprised about everything, labs and images and his transfer to Surgery. Once on the Surgical floor, even more friendly and supportive staff. Everyone is helpful, supportive, and professional. I have worked for Stanford Medicine, Kaiser, and federal hospitals, for over 30 years in healthcare and can say with full conviction that Onvida in Yuma is top tier. The first doctor I met was Luc Lanteigne MD. He was a compassionate and caring person. I needed help and he provided it without the red tape. I am going to try to get him for my dad's primary care physician. My dad's surgeon, Dr. Rodney Henderson, so professional and knowledgeable. His anesthesiologist, Dr. Toni Harrison- a gem of a person that took the time to talk with me about my dad's wishes and what we wanted for him. After the surgery on the floor, Danielle, his RN did everything to make sure my dad was comfortable throughout the broken hip, surgery, and recovery. Even with the dementia and Alzheimer challenges, she was attentive, supportive and professional. I couldn't have hoped for better. Patients and families arrive here sick, tired and sometimes broken. You get what you put out into the universe. Be respectful and kind; you get respect and kindness. I was severely stressed and scared for my dad. I spent time at the ER and was admitted due to seizures. My experience with a nurse and neurologist was horrible. The first nurse wanted to give me a shot in my stomach because I didn't know I could get up and move around. All she had to do was suggest that I get up. The neurologist came in and asked why i dont like taking seizure medicine. When I was never prescribed it in the 1st place and dont have any history with seizures. During a recent visit to Onvida Health my fiance had to undergo an amputation. It was a difficult time to say the least. But, the staff was absolutely incredible. From the security working the exit to her nurses, doctors, and even the maintenance staff. Everyone on their staff made her experience more pleasant. I spent some time in the ER and they while very busy were very courteous, professional and more importantly very gentle with all procedures. I was then moved to the 5th floor where I experienced much of the same. Special thanks to Nurse Araly and Nurses Assistant Doris. They are very good at what they do. My mother is 75 yrs old, was cleaning her house and thought she broke a rib, Onvida got her x-rayed and said nothing was broke, but had told her she had nodules on her lungs, she is extremely claustrophobic, they a month or two later got her a CT scan where they would give her anesthesia to have the procedure done, to get better idea of her nodules. The anesthesiologist ridiculed her for being a smoker, talking down to her, when he came to meet her this morning, then once he got her to the CT scan room before giving her anesthesia he started joking with her with one of the ladies in the room, telling my mother it'll only take a few minutes, you got this, you don't need anesthesia, my mom was ready to get up and leave she was so terrified, I didn't mention she also has Afib, one of the other ladies went to my mom and told her not to pay any attention to them teasinggggggg her. Unbelievable. It's like a bunch of clowns that work there. I doooo nottttt trust them with my mother, I do not feel good letting them take her out of my view. I ammmm soooooo angry. Also, feel it very important to add, turns Out she did have fractures that was now healing from the appointment two months ago and the scan showed no nodules?!!!! This place is a joke. However they will routinely takeb6 to 8 hours ir mire to give you rest results that normally take 1 hour. Everything is designed to milk tge insurance company for ad much money ad possible. They even ordered an ultrasound of my wife's Gall Bladder. The only problem is that her Gall Bladder was removed many years ago and they were aware of that. Over the years my family and I've had varying degrees of different experiences there. For the most part the customer service in my opinion has been just short of outstanding. I stayed overnite and seemingly every effort was made to find me a overnight pullout chair (one wasn't available). I had less than stellar incidents where (1) a male nurse didn't say 'sorry' and tried to pass the buck about some misinformation and (2) a male doctor basically said 'suck it up buttercup' during a quick procedure (it was a Marine Corps/Navy thing; many may not understand)! However, what stands out upon repeat visits would be the cafeteria The Kiva Cafe. The food is reasonably priced, there's a good seating area to choose to eat at and the food choices are ideal. On a late night visit we were able to eat a decent fast food meal of pizza, onion rings, cheeseburgers, fries and a chicken tender basket. The hours of operation reminded me of the military as in serving food at various times throughout the whole day to attempt to accomodate everyone. Again, the hospital isn't somewhere to look forward to visiting but it's nice to know while there efforts are remain solid as possible. read more

This place is horrible. DO NOT GO THERE! They said my wife's Dr. In San Diego was wrong. Not true. You can have a UTI without the normal symptom's, and one of the odd symptoms for my wife is vomiting. It's not normal but that's why we have a hard time when she gets them. She doesn't get the normal indicators, and they keep changing on her every year. The Dr. and nurses kept gaslighting her by saying she could not have a UTI with vomiting, even thought it happen last year in San Diego! They also asked her if she was Religious!!!! You can't do that??!! We believe in God but don't go to church. But that's not good enough for them, because they sent us a bill. My wife goes to the ER about once a year because she has chronic UTI's. She never once has received a bill. But this place sent an $1,800.00 bill to do the same thing every other ER has done. Even in San Diego, where everything is ten times more expense she has never received a bill. So we weren't expecting it. So since we didn't expect a bill, we had to make payments. She was sending $100-$200 a month (on an $1,800.00 bill) which should be good enough...you'd think. But NO! they sent her bill to collections so they can ruin her credit. She's making payments! This is how HORRIBLE THEY ARE! most companies won't send you to collections if someone is making monthly payments because they will loose 30-50% of the money! Excellent emergency room with very friendly, polite and informative nurses and doctors. Transferred to the hospital and received horrible, unprofessional, put off, uninformedative conversations about my father medical. Male nurse very sassy and abrupt, female nurse Hollis was kind of nice at first asking for all sorts of information from me and then when I started asking questions she got very sassy, snippety and put off again. They did not instruct my father on where the nurse call bill was, where the TV remote was, about the food menu that was dumped in his lap, they would not get nurse case managers or floor managers when asked. They made decisions that were not legally correct without a conversation about their decision. If I had the choice I would never go back to this hospital again. I have called the customer complaint line three times no response. I have called the CEOs office Robert Trenschel.. no response. I recently had to rush a family member to the emergency room at this hospital, and we are both still shocked at how truly horrible this experience was. They were in excessive pain when we arrived, but everyone knows how busy the ER can get so we were prepared to wait. My family member went far beyond their pain tolerance waiting to be seen and was eventually physically sick in the waiting room. They had to beg for emergency transport to another hospital before FINALLY being taken back by a nurse. Nobody should have to beg for an ambulance *ESPECIALLY while already at the hospital* to go to another hospital and be seen. There needs to be way better communication and organization in this place so people can be seen according to the severity of their symptoms. Making someone endure extreme pain for hours on end is a heart attack, or worse, waiting to happen. The "wheelchairs" at the entrance are also someone's idea of a sick joke. Unfortunately, YRMC is the only emergency hospital in town. You are better off driving to Phoenix, San Diego or go to Mexico to be seen. You will be likely be seen by a physician much faster. There is no sense of urgency. The service is worse than any 3rd world country. Staff seem miserable and hate to work there so much that, they take it on patients. Notice how they have ramped up the security in the ER room? Probably because staff and patients are getting physical to each other, instead hiring staff with higher standards. My spouse had a procedure at a YRMC facility. Prior to the procedure a discussion of exactly what the procedure was and what it was for was had between the facility, the physician performing the procedure, the PMC physician and my spouse. The procedure, if coded and billed correctly, would be covered entirely by insurance and the ACA. Post procedure YRMC changed and improperly coded the procedure that resulted in a billing to us of over $6000.00. YRMC's own employees agreed that this was coded improperly and needed to be corrected however the billing department continued to demand payment in full and threatened legal collection action if not paid. I would encourage EVERY patient of YRMC to contact Patient Advocate Foundation (NOT YRMC's patient advocate) and request assistance in reducing , legitimizing or eliminating the frivolous overcharging of services from YRMC. Also note that this facilities procedure pricing is not compliant with federal regulations to list complete insured/non-insured procedure pricing prominently on their website. read more

For the first time in my 61 years of existence I needed some very significant medical care. Yuma Regional Medical Center installed a new valve inside my heart! I could not have been more amazed with the care provided by doctors, staff, Nurses, X-Ray, EKG, machine operators and Food Prep, Intensive Care & Cardiac tower personnel. EVERY single person I encountered took care of me when I was at my most vulnerable weak helpless state. The amount of respectful care I received was overwhelming. Yes, it is an ER, which usually means a longer wait time just because of the dynamics of it. If I had a loved one who needed medical care and the choice was between Yuma Regional Medical Center or a veterinary, I must just choose the Vet. After a procedure they sent a technician to tell me I needed to go to emergency. When I asked why she could not tell me. I felt fine and did not need or every need emergency care. A couple of times I went in for a Uranalysis and they messed up and did not do the right procedure, They had to cancel appoints with a doctor. It takes two months to get an appointment with a specialist. The nephrology clinic was excellent; however, my overall experience with the Yuma Regional Medical Center was disappointing. I am finding care at another facility. read more
