Oo dat's delicious chicken, and the sauce is mind blowing!

LOVE this truck. Not too many food trucks impress me, but these guys are better than a lot of sit-down restaurants. They've got the full rotisserie oven IN the truck - with like 30 chickens rotating. Definitely check them out if you have a chance. Menu is simple- only a couple options, but this translates into high quality. They seem to focus on putting out a good product and not worrying about variety, which makes a lot of sense for a truck. Succulent, flavorful chicken. Really good sauce they include on the side - not sure what is in the sauce, but it is excellent. I'm not much of a sauce guy generally, and you don't even need it in this case because the chicken is so moist and tasty, but i find i am using all of the sauce because it's so good. Also, their salads are not a throw-away side. I've had both salads that they offer, and they are both carefully prepared; one leafy green focused, and another chopped cucumber/tomoato focused. Fresh and good. The closing argument for these guys is the rice. Who would spend time on getting rice to be just right? well, these guys do. Some of my coworkers who are self-professed rice snobs love their rice. It is moist, fresh, not sticky, with a hint of butter. Top notch lunch. read more

Came for the boys, stayed for the chicken. This is some of the best chicken that I have had. Perfectly seasoned and roasted, this chicken is divine. The cucumber salad was fresh and hit the spot. I was really looking forward to eating Mexican food after work. I ordered my chicken bowl which says it comes with all these great sounding toppings + sour cream. I asked for extra sour cream and the guy tells me it's not sour cream it's ranch.... idk about y'all but I don't want ranch on my Mexican chicken bowl. If I didn't ask, I would have just been disappointed when I got to my apartment. I'm sure the food is great, but I ended up cancelling my order bc my Mexican chicken bowl was smothered in ranch salad dressing and not sour cream. read more

The BEST rotisserie chicken I've ever had, hands down - some of the best chicken I've ever eaten. Period. The chicken's moist and delicious on the inside with a perfectly browned, nicely seasoned outside. The sides are pretty amazing, too. So far, I've tried the coleslaw, the corn, and the shirazi salad. Everything is super fresh and made from scratch. They use their own blends of seasonings for everything and the flavors all work great together - not sure how else to describe it other than together it just pops! Definitely not run of the mill. the food is good. the chicken could use more seasoning on it i thought. i had the colesalw and it was too crunchy for me. i enjoyed the corn. I would have to try it again to really decide how good the chicken is. It was very tender and juicy which is always a plus flavorful or not. "Eek! Methinks not." As another reviewer stated, this place is JUST OK. I will not return and trust me it is not flavorful like Peruvian chicken. I'm sure this is just rotisserie as the flavors are pretty bland. I think Safeway/Giant sale better chicken. read more

I really enjoyed my lunch from the Ooh Dat truck at NoMa today. I had the 1/4 chicken white with rice, beans and collard greens. All of the food was deliciously. The collards were on point! The customer service at this truck is always top notch and the guys always make me smile for some reason or the other during the transaction. I highly recommend them! read more

I saw their truck at Taste of DC and ordered the Chicken Sliders. As soon as I received them I noticed right away on how nice the portion sizes were! The chicken was so juicy and tender. It had a perfect kick to it as well, not spicy or blend, just perfect. I will definitely seek them out and try the rest of there menu because I was amazed by their sliders! read more

Several of my co-workers have been raving about this new truck for several weeks now. I am not normally a fan of food fads and crazes, such as the ever-trendy food truck, but I reluctantly tried Ooh dat chicken yesterday for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was so moist and tasted as though it had been prepared and marinated the way a chicken should be marinated ( proper length of time, ect). The rotisserie was right on the truck and patrons can see their food being slowly cooked, which speaks to the freshness of the meat ( I had never seen a rotisserie on a food truck before). I also particularly enjoyed the coleslaw and the sauce that is served with the chicken is the perfect combination of tangy with the savoriness of the meat . The service was great , very fast and friendly . I have been told that I tend to be quite the food snob, but I have to say these guys really hit the bulls-eye with this one. BRAVO! I have definitely found my new favorite lunch spot. read more

Ooh Dat is definitely worthwhile. The rotisserie chicken was flavorful and appropriately cooked (not overly done and moist). The price is also a draw--$11 for half a chicken and two sides. The guy in the window was also cool. To the extent that a food truck can really be graded on service, he did a great job. They were out of Sprite, so he just gave me two bottles of water for free. It wasn't the best perk in the world, but still a nice gesture. read more

Ooh Dat Chicken is the perfect name! I look forward to getting some juicy rotisserie chicken on a weekly basis! Their basmati rice, corn, and basil salad are fresh and yummy sides as well. We were really excited that Ooh Dat Chicken was coming to our pool for "food truck Friday". But to be honest we were a bit disappointed. Apparently they had cancelled with our organizers twice. When they did show up they showed a little late. They seemed to be out of the sauces shown in the pictures and there was no rice. The portions were smaller than pictured. We had the salad bowl. It was nothing spectacular. We also had the rotisserie chicken which came with black beans and a side salad. It was good but seemed to be lacking spices. The tacos were the best of what we ordered but again not over the top. Overall the experience was average. read more

Overpriced mediocre chicken served up with a dose of a**hole. No thanks. My first and last time at this truck parked at 20th and L today. I ordered a 1/4 chicken (white), potatoes and decided to sub the rice for a "mixed green salad". Instead I got what looked to be the "tomato cucumber salad" which was listed right below the mixed green salad on the menu board with separate bullet point and everything. When I returned to point out the apparent mix up, the guy acted like they were the same salad or as if there was only one kind of salad. When I pointed out the items listed separately on his menu board, he poked his head out to read it as if he didn't even know what his menu board said. He said the mixed salad came with the cucumbers and tomatoes on top. I said ok, this is my first time here and I don't know your menu. He said ok,let's make it "right", with a tinge of condescension mixed with sarcasm. He proceeded to grab the blob of salad, throw it away, and then said rudely, so, what do you want? Just lettuce? And I said well, if the mixed green salad doesn't come with anything else, I guess so (I don't eat tomatoes). He plopped the lettuce in the box, annoyed the whole time, squirted some dressing and handed it back to me. Already feeling irritated, I stepped a foot away to wait for the light at the intersection, when I hear him talking about me to the guy in line behind me, apologizing for the "inconvenience" of me and scoffing, hey, the customer is always right, no? SO RUDE and unnecessary. I promptly returned to my desk to see what sort of reviews this place got to see if it was just an off day or if they always treat their customers that rudely. Looks like a mix, (unlike my salad). I also took a look at their website and low and behold even their on-line menu http://www.oohdatchicken.com/images/menu.pdf (which is different than what is on the truck) lists 2 different salads: 1. Mixed green salad Mesclun salad with feta cheese, grape tomatoes, and Raspberry vinaigrette 2. Fresh Shirazi Salad with chopped tomatoes, red onions and cucumbers tossed with a lemon dressing Where's my feta?!?! Anyway, I proceed to eat my chicken, which tastes ok, not dry at least, but is pink, so I am not sure it is done and worry that I will be sorry for eating it later, so I stop. The potatoes were crumbly and mediocre at best and my salad was as you can imagine-just lettuce with raspberry vinaigrette dressing-snooze. Overall, unpleasant experience, for average, overpriced food. Save your money and go get an entire rotisserie chicken at Safeway for $6.99. I'll see you there. read more

OOH Dat Chicken is my absolute favorite chicken truck in the area. I walk 4 blocks at least once a week to enjoy their awesomely seasoned chicken. Their Shirazi salad rocks the boat, too. I love it so much that I always walk away with an extra side of the stuff for "later". Later never comes because I can never wait. You will enjoy your meal from OOH Dat Chicken! Yum! The only suggest I have is for the crew to add a salad to the menu. They do make 'em, but they need to advertise them. By far one of the best food trucks in DC whenever it's nearby I go out and get it, even if I can't feel my fingers. Worth it.

I really like there chicken but the truck never come to my area in Foggy Bottom and lately it seems they only visit Noma area.

this is one of my new favorite trucks. Everything is delicious. The chicken is tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly. The corn is also a favorite. The chefs are also really nice. I had been a few times and they were out of the corn (I unfortunately had gone late). I mentioned my disappointment and the chef offered to make me some corn, if I was willing to wait, which I certainly was. So he whipped some up for me right then and there and it was SO worth the wait. Can't say enough good things about the food and the service; just know that you should defintely check them out. read more

From a block away the aroma draws in me to my favorite food truck like a magnet. Ooh Dat Chicken! IMO - the BEST rotisserie chicken from a food truck and right up there with the chicken from La Madeleine (my fave restaurant rotisserie chicken). Their own spice blend is to die for - - not too spicy, definitely bold and flavorful. Even though I loved their chicken prior to a recent change they made, it's even better now. They brine their chicken now, which makes it even more tender and juicy, and pulls in the seasoning from the skin all the way thru. I appreciate that the sides are just the right amount and that they complement the chicken so well. Slaw is often a watery, sweet glop created elsewhere. It's typically an afterthought. Ooh Dat Chicken makes their own slaw with obvious pride, creativity, and love. Their slaw includes a whole lotta basil, which I think matches the chicken for boldness. The flavor of the slaw is not lost next to that well-seasoned chicken. Neither over-powers the other. Last bit of food is the Basmati rice - what a nice surprise. No clumped-up, flavorless ball of rice here! It too has enough flavor to work as a foil for the chicken and slaw without getting lost. It's perfectly cooked and seasoned (meaning, they know how to properly salt it); and it's the right amount. I can't say enough good about the food from Ooh Dat Chicken. But I will have to take this review a step further and talk about how awesome the cook and assistant are. I hate to admit I've long since forgotten their names. But names aren't necessary with these guys. They remember faces; they're super friendly - - top notch customer service skills even on nasty wet cold days. It's obvious they love food and love sharing their food with others. And now, to indulge in the best chicken for miles around - - Ooh Dat Chicken!!! read more

I used to think this truck was great and had no complaints about the food! That is until I was waiting for an order and one of guys on the truck began to berate the gentlemen standing next to me who wasn't even talking to him! He was having a very civil conversation with the other guy on the truck! Apparently, that had spoken earlier in the day about a truck he had for sale. To add insult to injury, this guy referred to the man by a derogatory name and continued to drop the f*** bomb in a tirade that was senseless and ignorant! The man and I looked at each other because we could not believe that he was going off like that. The man walked away and I immediately cancelled my order and demanded my money back! The saddest thing is, the man was giving his partner some very useful information that would have benefited their business! So sad when customer service is thrown out the window over an unnecessary, unprofessional, psychotic outburst!. He was totally wrong and unapologetic! I will NEVER patronize this business again! There are far too many trucks out there who provide good customer service as well as good food! read more
