I was very fortunate to pick this food truck out of the many parked out there at the national mall. As a matter of fact, I was in line for a different truck and just got food from here because the line was shorter and I was starving. I picked the Chicken Souvlaki sandwich for $6.99. I had no clue what it was but it turned out to be my best 7 dollar investment of the day! Marinated chunks of chicken breast, feta cheese, lemon sauce, tomatoes and onions. I highly recommend this juicy tasty meal if you are on the go. I would also like to add that I upgraded to a combo for an extra dollar to include fries. They were well seasoned, crunchy and fresh. There always seems to be at least one gyro truck parked in our area. Elite has all the standard gyro sandwich options, plus a few random platters and chicken dishes. They offer a combo deal with fries and a drink with sandwiches, so most of the meals come out to $10, which pretty reasonable. The gyro was good- a decent amount of seasoning on the meat, well loaded with tomato and lettuce, but a little light on the yogurt sauce. So it's around lunch time and when you're walking around the national mall, getting a quick bite to eat out of a food truck sounds like an easy and quick option right? WRONG. I don't know if we hit this truck on an off day or at the wrong time but man was it a pretty bad experience. The two stars come from the fact that when we actually GOT our food, we did enjoy it and it tasted really good. When we stood in line to order, there was one person ahead of us. We thought that was probably great because our wait wouldn't be as long. As soon as I thought this, some angry man came running out of nowhere yelling and saying how much these guys suck because they're so slow blah blah blah. We weren't deterred, but we calmly asked the people waiting, "so...how long you been waiting for your food?" They all told us about 15 minutes. And even though this seemed extremely long we decided to give it a shot. Yes our wait was actually 15 minutes (maybe a bit more :( ) which for a gyro is a little bit long. AND it was worse because they messed up literally everyone's order. They gave a girl chicken when she asked for falafel (and then tried to give us her chicken gyro after she walked away with it and had it near her mouth...we stopped that one!), they forgot to give the next lady her fries and then they didn't give us the right sandwich the first time either (because they were just trying to hand us the one they messed up). Great food truck! It's really hard to know which ones are good when there are 15 of them lining a highway. I ordered the Chicken Gyro and I was not disappointed. I asked for extra sauce and was very happy with the amount they gave. Everything was fresh, and exactly what I wanted and expected. Wonderful value. My sandwich was only $6.99. If you have been to the area, you know that it is hard to decide on the many food trucks there are out there. I am lucky I landed on the Elite Fresh Pita one. I knew I wanted greek, so it was just a matter of which one. I came on Yelp and saw the reviews were good, so thought I would give it a try. It was very delicious and a lot of food for your money. I got the chicken gyro meal and it came with a pita sandwich and fries. So, it said gyro, but the chicken meat I got was cubed, so not sure if it was a mistake, but it was a really good tasting mistake. They gave me yogurt sauce on it and I asked for hot sauce on the side. I would suggest that, because it is pretty hot! Anyways, overall, really tasty and great for a quick bite. read more

I tried this today for lunch. I was in the mood for a gyro, and I'm so glad I chose this truck. The food was hot and fresh. Here are the items that I purchased. -Fries- Hot and crispy with a nice seasoning on top. -Lamb Gyro- Tender meat, fresh veggies (lettuce, onion and cucumber), and fresh feta. Delicious food however the guy who works on the truck overtaxes each and every customer. Extra "tax" from each customer adds up to plenty of extra cash he keeps for himself. Young lady in truck overcharged us..when we complained to the owner he says tax was added..there are no signs that indicate that tax will be added ontop of the displayed price. Watch out for this food truck. They round up your cost AND are charging a 16% sales tax when food trucks are only supposed to be charging 10%. Good food, but not at the cost of being ripped off.
