I made the 26 mile drive from Signal Mountain to Ooltewah Nursery this morning to discuss purchasing sod and I have nothing but praise for my experience. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Amelia at a front register. I expected her to pass me off to another employee but Amelia was able to answer all of my questions. Ten minutes, questions answered and my purchase was processed for pick up by my landscapers. Well worth the drive. Thank you, Amelia! read more

I've bought several hundred dollars in plants over the past two years as I landscaped a new home. NO MORE. The "expert assistance" has been very hit or miss. To clarify: two of the card-carrying "pros" gave me opposing advice causing real issues. Recently I brought back a miss-marked plant and was told (to paraphrase) "tough." I purchased a number of identical plants and I did not notice the different one until they leafed out. "Gee, I know we loaded them but that's too bad. We have no more like that and forget about any even partial credit." In fairness, most plants that I've purchased there are thriving. They have a nice selection, decent pricing and a nice looking business, but BUYER BEWARE. In my ten or so shopping trips to Ooltewah Nursery, three have been unpleasant. 30% = too high. There are much better nurseries in the area. read more

called Tuesday 4/16/2024 to ask if they had orange azaleas and I was told yes they had 10. I came up here Wednesday morning (1 hour away) and was told by the manager Kat that she's putting them in a show next week and I could only buy 1.One manger said yes I could buy 2 then Kat said no. I explained to her I called (showed the time I called ) and she said that I called before she decided to rope them off for the show and she was sorry but no I couldn't buy 2 . It didn't not matter to her that her employee told me there were some there and I drove all that way. I feel this is very bad business! I will never go back or recommend this place. We love Ooltewah Nursery! They always have a great selection of quality plants and garden accessories as well as garden essentials. This time I ordered garden soil for a new large, formed raised bed. It is perfect for what we are doing and wonderful quality. You can not get this quality from other places who claim to have gardener's/planter's mix. The staff are fabulous helping with selection and calculating materials. They also walked me out to the trucks to help me determine the best way for us to have our soil delivered. We decided on the large truck so it would be one load and will do another once I have worked this. They offer three truck sizes for delivery--5 yards, 8 yards, & 16 yards. Be sure to make sure what your property can handle beforehand so you can determine what size truck and how many deliveries to break down your order into. Excited to get planting! read more

Spent $55 for 3 lights for the front yard, one quit working right away, the other 4 months later. Manager said there was no warranty and would not replace them even after pleading my case about how expensive it was thinking I was buying quality, no quality anywhere from product to management. " They needed to quit working within 2 or 3 days to be covered. Will never buy another thing here..... read more

It was plant, shrub and tree heaven. I wanted mature boxwoods and Lowes and Bryant's only sold small ones. This was my last place to look but it will always be my first from now on. A man named, Jim, helped me. He saw me walking around and asked to help me. He was awesome. I left super happy. read more

When you actually visit the store the service is pretty good. The problem I have is when I call. No one ever answers the phone. I purchased two huge trees which are to be installed by them. I called 811 to have the power lines marked. 811 told me I have to give my ticket number to Ooltewah Nursery. As I mentioned, they don't answer the phone. When I callld them a few minutes ago, someone actually answered and said "please hold." No one ever picked up the phone after that. read more

The Ooltewah Nursery was very nice to shop at. However, I found them to be a little pricey, especially for a nursery. Other than that my experience was great! I am a HUGE succulent and cacti fan, so naturally I went straight to that area. I found that their succulents and cacti were very healthy and well taken care of. Maybe this can put way the higher pricing? Haha! Great selection; and good customer service! I ended up buying two cacti and a der pot. read more

I just spent 15 minutes looking for a soil test kit and some stuff my plants seriously need but wasn't sure of what to buy? Of the 2 girls working indoors, i stood and watched the young blonde girl walk buy me without so much as eye contact let alone "excuse me, can i help you" but I figured give her the benefit of the doubt, so i walked over to the register and asked her for a soil kit, she didn't know where it was and asked the other woman sitting glued to the internet, where it was? They both pointed and said "its way in the back" guess what? There was nothing in the back. I walked slowly past them one last time to see if either would say, "did you find what you were looking for?" Apparently today the internet and cell phone took precedence over helping me. Go somewhere else they don't care about you here, this is the second time this Happened to me here, there wont be a third time read more

This is by far the best nursery I have been too and the largest. Ask for Jim as he is very knowledgeable and willing to answer your questions. I could tell right off he is the person you need to talk to in order to grow things. He will teach you how to plant and grow trees, shrubs and plants. I'm looking for a pecan tree but I might get a maple here one day. Jim will tell me how to keep it alive. read more

Poor customer service. I've been here numerous times and each time I'm there and ask someone a question they appear either irritated, don't have an answer or give incorrect information. Asked about how to prune a tree shaped Fiddle Leaf Fig, was told to "Google" it. Another visit, was purchasing a Hoya which is an extremely slow growing indoor plant and was seriously warned by the owner to be careful about how fast it grows, (he wasn't kidding) he thought it was an ivy. Called in the fall to ask for lawn grading and reseeding, was told they were too busy, to call back in the spring. Called back in spring, too busy, give us 8 weeks. Go somewhere that appreciates their customers. I've spent hundreds of $$ there, no more, I can spend my money elsewhere. read more

These guys just aren't customer focused. I've tried several times to inquire about specific plants products or services. I've asked for a return call and didn't get one or just got the wrong answer (I called ahead to ask if they had a specific plant in; was told yes, only to get there and they hadn't come in yet). They have young teenagers answering the phone at the front cashier's desk and they either don't know anything or they just respond without checking facts, giving out incorrect information. It seems like a family business that has gone sadly downhill. read more

Cat...take a class in customer service! Purchased rock 3 weeks ago and specifically asked salesperson how long it would take to get more and was told a couple of days. Over two weeks later, still cannot get rock for half finished yard. Have been dealing with Manager "Cat" who has been repeatedly rude to my landscaper and attempted to push blame on me for not letting them know at the time how much total I was going to need. Not willing to do anything but tell me she is doing the best that she can which is essentially nothing. read more

2-9-18 Just drove all the way to Ooltewah from Cleveland to get my wife a rose for Valentines Day -- Their sign says " Don't forget Feb 14 is Valentines!" Lots or real nice roses in main part of store but when I had picked out 2 a man came over and said "We can't sell you those yet " I explained that I wouldn't be planting them yet and would put them in a protected basement with our other plants in indirect light. Great nursery. Beautiful selection and great customer service. Prices range from low to high depending on what you're looking for. We've purchased Christmas trees from them before which were full and healthy. Today we purchased mums that are absolutly gorgeous. They do have workshops once in a while, so check with them often. Their plants range from edible garden plants to bonsai plants. They also offer garden and home decor. There is definitely something for everyone! read more
