This week we went a bit earlier and there was still a line up to get in but we were early enough to get the tomatoes! Fresh chicken, grass fed ground beef. Today we picked up fresh halibut and salmon. This will be my go to market for 2020. Open air and physical distancing in place. Lots of parking. It's not a huge market. It's local and it has seafood, veggies, a little bit of crafts, some specialty foods, food trucks, popcorn, ice cream , and everything I need from a market....

Located in northeast Edmonton, this farmers' market is a true community event, completely volunteer-driven and operated. There is an abundance of fresh and unique products that are made, baked, or grown locally in and around Edmonton. You can find bedding plants, perennials, a wide range of vegetables, fruit, and berries. There are also delicious jams, jellies, preserves, and fresh meats. My son loves the jalapeno flavored pepperoni sticks. Prices are very affordable, and staff are super friendly and welcoming. Oh, you can get fresh popcorn too. Very family oriented. Loretta is someone that truly stands out here, with her cheerful manner, friendly smile, and vast knowledge. Never has anything I have bought from her died. The quality of her plants is just stellar. She truly goes the extra mile. For example, if you want something that she doesn't have, she will offer to bring it for you the next week. It turns out she has her own Greenhouse, Country Clay & Garden Works in Red Water. She is a pleasure to see every Tuesday.

We didn't mind walking after parking in the residential area. The variety of vendors are great. There will also be the ones selling produce, but there were also plenty of food vendors sampling tastes and some options were ready to consume. If not, there are numerous food trucks available and some seating which is always great when you don't have walk and eat. It can get crowded but I find the layout is not too congested and I was able to walk around and see the items I wanted to. In addition to food, there's jewelry, clothing, and home decor. here's a kid's play area and the library was also open inside. There are porta potties but also toilets inside too. Great place to spend a Saturday morning or afternoon!

They blow a fog horn at 10am when the vendors are allowed to start selling their wares and it blows again at 3pm when the market closes. There are so many vendors at this market and they rotate from week to week and year to year. Some booths are consistent and show up every year while others may come only a few weeks of the year. Of course there is the classic food vendors: garden produce, fresh seasonal fruit, hot food/drink (food trucks), and custom foods (pies, cookies, beef jerky, fresh/frozen meats, perogies, etc). But there are a lot more hand made items: wooden patio furniture, jewelry, garden items, knit clothing, and other knick nacks. And there are the alcohol suppliers now: craft wines, craft beers, distilleries, mead, and doesn't kombucha even have a little bit of booze in it? ;) A few of my favorite anchor booths are listed below. Viravongsa's Farms: they have a legit farm near Red Deer and offer the freshest locally grown produce. Family owned and operated and their prices are fair. Confetti Sweets: They offer a great selection of cookies. You can buy them as a single or get a volume discount if you buy 3 or more. My favorite is the Oatmeal chocolate chip.

Seems larger and better stocked. Also great timing for my Saturday shopping after a good workout! If you have one near you I suggest taking a look! They have general weekly deals as well as each location has its own swath of deals They also got some grains/breads available, some dairy items, and a small selection of non-perishable items. The farmers market itself isn't as large, however the area around had many other art vendors, food vendors, and other things to see. Luckily we came on Saturday, which is the day that the farmers market is open. They had many vendors which was very crowded and busy. They had vendors for all sorts of things from fruit, cheese, two flowers, two meats, two others as well. It's definitely something interesting to take a look at if you're not used to seeing many farmers markets. What made it especially cool was that they had a large variety of things to try what you could snack on, or even take home. It was free to go so is really cool to just take a look around and see what they had to offer. However it was difficult to find parking as it was busy, and street and parking itself was very limited.

The market is a lot busier this year than it was last year. Overall, it's a good neighborhood market, but if you are looking for variety you should checkout Collingwood or downtown 104 street.

She brought my bf and me to see this place where you can buy fresh mushrooms and skin cares that are created from mushrooms. Rachel who is one of the co-owners is very knowledgeable and passion for what she is doing. From time to time through their Instagram or Facebook account, they will announce a mycology class where you will have a better knowledge about mushrooms. Pink oyster mushroom is the most unique one I found. It tastes so meaty esp after you roast it. Similar flavour to bacon. I also made a mushroom soup of pink oyster mushroom and it was amazed me that I felt really full just by eating the mushroom soup without anything. I even didn't touch the bread that I prepared to have with the soup. My another favourite is king oyster mushroom which I recreated for a rendang (Indonesian caramelized curry). There wasn't much product left, as they had made deliveries to local restaurants. We were educated for about half an hour. It was very enjoyable experience! We bought some blue oyster & king oyster mushrooms. We will definitely buy their products again.

It's a small space but they have a nice amount of vendors in there and still plenty of space to walk around. I was surprised that they have a lot of kids activities which is great. Next time I'll be bringing my daughter for face painting while I shop. There were a few stand out vendors for me, the Thai food had 3 curries for $22, great freezer fillers. And Anvil Coffee were there, local coffee house selling coffee and travel mugs etc. There was also a mushroom stall, I had some samples that were really yummy! they sell the mushrooms but also grow your own mushroom kits! I've never seen that anywhere before! There were other nice organic fruit and veg vendors, cakes and some jewelry makers too. So plenty of unusual gift option - including the mushrooms. Looking forward to going back and seeing new vendors too. I think this will be very busy in the summer!
