ENGLISH I visited Opium Barcelona on Tuesday night (Jan 20, 2026) during a business trip with several colleagues. Our group had already spent a significant amount of money at the venue the night before, so this experience was especially disappointing. During the evening, I bought a bottle of water at the upper bar. While briefly speaking with a colleague (around 10 seconds), I placed the bottle on the lower bar counter opposite the cloakroom. A staff member immediately removed it. When I approached her right away and explained that I had just purchased it, she refused to return it or provide a replacement. The bigger issue was not the drink, but the way I was treated. The employee, who gave the name "Georgina" (tall, slim, brown hair), spoke no English at all and reacted in a very dismissive and disrespectful way. Instead of trying to understand the situation, she made a hand gesture telling me to go away. Her tone and behavior were rude and confrontational, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. For an international club of this reputation, it is surprising that staff in direct contact with guests cannot communicate even basic English or handle a simple situation professionally. The interaction left me with a very negative impression and a clear feeling of being treated without respect or basic courtesy. Because of this experience, I would not feel comfortable returning, and I believe other guests should be aware of how situations like this can be handled here. This and Razzmatazz are must visits in Bartha. The space is actually quite large and roomy off the dance floor. Theres an outdoor area if you need fresh air, but its mostly people smoking cigarettes. Everyone pays cover including girls *cries in American* $15 on Friday night but it does include one drink ticket. Fun 5/5 Dancefloor 4/5 Seizure inducing lights 1/5. Very trippy and they were on the ENTIRE TIME. You will understand what I mean when you go. I was mostly sober and it made it feel as if I was drunk, almost nauseous. The music was so so this night. I was hoping for more spanish music, but for some reason they play a lot of american early 2000s hits. I thought Europeans love edm and honestly would have preferred that. Also a lot of shoving. Other guests are rude and will push their way at your expense. I was able to get drinks early but other girls in my group says the female bartenders were sexist and gave gave more attention and preference to male guests first. Obvious reasons. read more

Spend over 40 euro on a Tyga concert which was supposed to start at 11:30 and at 3:30 he is still no where to be seen. Way to many people. Could not even move felt like I was squished to death. The whole club was burning hot and felt like I was going to faint. A server dropped a glass cup and took 10 minutes for it be cleaned while people stepped all over the glass. Don't go. Songs from back in 2010 but not the good ones, Nicki Minaj and Iggy should not be the main artists played at a club, and California Girls by Katy Perry?? Really.. it's all this awful music that does not belong in a club. Absolutely just not worth it, waste of time and money. First few times I went here were fun despite constant groping and casual harassment. Drinks are medium to expensively priced and it takes awhile to order anything. However, on our last visit to Opium a group of friends and I were invited to party in the VIP section, specifically the area to the right closest to the DJ. We had a great time until one man in the section wearing a white 'I heart xxx' shirt began groping my friends by slapping and squeezing our butts and trying to finger us after being told many times to stop. When we told the bouncer, he immediately kicked us out of the VIP section despite treating us nicely beforehand. When I reported this to the manager, he said "as a woman, you have to be strong." A little hard to be strong when a stranger's fingers are unconsensually under your skirt. If you are looking for a victim-blaming club to party throughout a night of ensured constant sexual harassment supported by the club, Opium is a good choice for you. read more

I was visiting Barcelona with a couple of friends and my friend recommended this night nightclub to me. We arrived around 11:45pm on a Friday night. We got in with no cover after putting our names on the guestlist on the website. One thing I learned was that Spanish like to go out late! Upon arrival the place was not busy, we decided to go outside for some drinks and have a seat. After an hour or so we went back inside to completely different atmosphere! Place was packed! Everyone was dancing and having a great time. The drinks are a bit pricey but this was expected for a nightclub. I am from Chicago so I would say the prices were equivalent. I would recommend this nightclub to anybody visiting Barcelona in the future, but to make sure to go late when the real party starts! read more

I had wanted to go clubbing in Barcelona during my trip but was with my mom so that didn't really work out haha. She suggested going in and just getting food and drinks so we could at least experience sitting in a nice looking club! There were nice cushioned seats to sit on a the staff was very friendly! All we ordered were 2 cocktails and nachos, pretty pricy. Each drink was €14 and nachos were about €13.. So yeah not cheap but hey, it is Barcelona and it is a club! Gotta do it once, right? It was the worst experience I've ever had at a nightclub, even worse than a dive bar! We had purchased to reserve a table that came with bottle service, and when we arrived all the tables were taken. They made us walk the entire bar until they kicked off a group of people at one table. We had purchased the table for a group of 4 but had an additional person in the group, so a total of 5. We asked the hostess if we could include the 5th person. They said yes with an additional fee of $50 euros. When we finally arrived at a table, the bouncer and bar manager came and harasses us if we had paid for the table and asked us how much we paid and if we had a receipt. I showed the receipts and we explained that the hostess allowed us at the table, but when we confronted the hostess she continues to berate my friend saying we were dumb that we should know how "nightclubs" work. Then why did you say yes when we had ASKED?! In addition, we had asked for a hookah along with the well bottle, but they never came back for our hookah. Just left the bottle. I'm not sure why this club is well renowned in Barcelona. Even a few other patrons we talked to had said the same that this club sucks. They even said that the dress code doesn't allow jeans for women, but there were plenty of women in jeans. read more

This venue was really nice. Drinks are a hit or miss. First round when we came in was really good and strong. I order goose and cran. The venue was still setting up around 11-1130. So don't plan to come too early as it doesn't pick up until about after midnight. The music for a Saturday night was hip hop and house. Unfortunately the second round we order with a different bartender didn't know how to make an old fashion. The goose and cran she made for me was mostly juice so it was disappointing to say the least. The venue is spacious and also has outdoor seating which is along the beach view. Dance club review: Let's get our electronic dance on! That's basically the music we got on a Saturday night in Opium. I came here for a bachelorette party and I had signed everyone on the guestlist, free before 12:30am! I highly recommend signing up for a guestlist on their website and to get there early. There will be promoters outside the club so you can get passes there too but there may be a fee for it. Considering how things can be sketchy or even fake, I would try and bargain to just get it for free. The club itself was pretty big, with a sizeable dance floor, multiple bars, tables and outdoor seating along Barceloneta beach. It looked cleaner than another club we went to, with more of a clubby, higher class NYC club vibe but this place sure can get crowded. Also the bathroom situation is just hectic so if you have a small bladder, you are pretty much screwed. Overall, I was glad that we came and experienced Opium as it was one of the more popular clubs in Barcelona but I am not a fan of electronic music so my energy waned a bit. Also, because it was so crowded, it was hard to dance. I would recommend coming here and getting drinks but to also explore other clubs around the area. read more

I am by no means a club person but we were constantly being told about the crazy nightlife in Barcelona so I had to see for myself. There's a small strip of clubs on the beach and Opium was probably my favorite. Cover is 20€ but that includes a "tall drink" aka a mixed drink which I didn't think was unreasonable. I thought prices overall were fair. The place is massive and beautiful. Probably thousands of people. You can get lost in here. But a lot of fun, filled with people from all over. Tourists and locals alike. I've been told Europeans in general are more forward and that was definitely apparent here (not in a bad way). Bartenders were serious, attentive, and always on their game! Obviously a good thing. Sassy but attractive bartender says to me "You're in Barcelona, speak slowly" LOL fair enough. Also, when the night is over (aka 6am) you can walk on the beach/watch the sunrise. It's a beautiful site. But beware of the guys outside trying to sell you water, beer, snacks, etc. They are extremely pushy, annoying, and probably trying to pick pocket... Came twice both on Saturdays and frank caro (res DJ) killed it both nights. Solid EDM danceable music. You can go outside too although its super smokey. Drinks are expensive at 12-14 euro but if ur a chick u should try to get into VIP. Or get bottle service, its worth it. I'll leave it at that ;) Love that opium stays open til dawn! Awesome club, located right next to the beach. Unlike NYC, best nights to go are Fri, Sat & Sun. Huge amount of people from different countries, lots of good looking and friendly girls. Fun atmosphere. The club is pretty big with several rooms also you can relax outside on the boardwalk. The drinks are €5 a shot and €10 for a beer/ whatever. All clubs in Barcelona open up at 1 am and close at like 6-7 am which is great. Overall, it was fun. P.S. This club is massive and one of the best clubs I have ever experienced in my life. It has a massive dancefloor and you can easily get right up close to the DJ. Walk out onto the beach with to take a break or take a chick ;) I found the soundsystem to be awesome, not echo-y or cracked speakers like other places I have been. I suggest buying tickets beforehand in order to save a little money. Still saw Nicky Romero for like 30 euro which is much cheaper than USA prices for electronic DJ/Producers where prices have skyrocketed in most cases for a Friday or Saturday night show. Drinking at Opium is completely unrealistic for someone on a budget, but if money isn't an object, have at it. Everyone's heard of Barcelona's hot night life. Before flying over for vacation, I did a lot of research on which clubs to visit. The two that were at the top of the list were Apolo and Razzmatazz. Those two sucked balls and consisted of terrible music, empty venues, and sprinkles of kids under 16. Introduce Opium, one of the clubs right outside our hotel (Hotel Arts). THIS is the scene I was looking for! Great DJ performances, great ADULT crowd, awesome all around. Definitely recommend stopping by! The line to enter is long but moves fast. read more

Opium is considered one of the hot night clubs to check out while in Barcelona so sure enough we found a way to end up there on a Friday night. We happened to be heading there at the right place at the right time (although I'm sure looking the part can't hurt) where we were given tickets for free entrance prior to getting there-- otherwise there is a cover apparently which I'm sure varies depending on the night. It's definitely worth seeing as it provides the typical night club experience with high speed euro electro beats (I say typical as I feel like you can probably find a place like this in any touristy city). The drinks were a little pricey in my opinion considering the selection was mediocre (expected, I know) and the crowd was well touristy (again, not that I should be the least bit surprised by this, I after all being a tourist myself amongst a sea of other tourists). I did like that this was along a beach front and something which I found notably cool was they had a small little souvenir type shop called, "Shopium." Not that that's the purpose for visiting, just a hipster observation on my part that caught my eye. Another perk is, being it's on a strip featuring other notorious night clubs, it's so easy to bar hop and experience a little of everything, which I do recommend doing. We came here to eat and not for the club. The venue for a restaurant was top notch. We had a great table right next to the beach. The prices were a little high to reflect our view, but it was worth it on a lovely Barcelona night. The food was above average and we all had a good time. We stopped here on our way out of the Ice Bar. We did check out the club afterwards, but their prices for a bottle of wine were outrages. We just wanted to get a bottle of wine and relax on a couch, but the same bottle we just ordered at dinner cost about 10 times as much in the club. Needless to say, we didn't go. read more

Good times! A group of us got on the guest list at Opium and entered on a Saturday night around midnight without any waiting. It did look like the lines at the other clubs in the vicinity were longer; not sure if those are more popular or if the bouncers just hold more people back. Even though we got in for free, some of my friends decided to get a table. The ones available were outside and while I didn't mind from a temperature standpoint, I did not enjoy the smokers nearby. They were also very strict on having no more than 5 people at each table. At some point, we had to buy 3 tables. Eventually, we negotiated to move our 3 tables inside by the dancefloor. The music was loud but it felt great. Ladies - watch out for the downstairs bathrooms. The stairs could be treacherous. read more

We came here after a long walk in the boiling sun and were desperate for an ice cold beer and shade. The Opium Mar was the perfect place to cool down and relax, I streched out on those bloody huge sofas and we ordered our Coronitas ( about 6€ each; beach prize :)) and I almost felt like "home". I liked the amicable and smooth atmosphere, dozing off, listening to smooth lounge music....although it seemed to me that the crowd is much like: to see and to be seen. If zero stars was a an option, I would immediately click it. Literally the most boring, underwhelming club I have ever been to. The bouncers act like they are security for the goddamn president. A friend I was with was in line for the bathroom, when a security guard lost his shit and strangled her. He said she was trying to "cut the line", even though she had been waiting in line for almost 30 minutes. She was pinned against a wall and strangled and the only reason he stopped was when other people intervened and he began to physically assault others. I went upstairs to make a call, since of course there is no service in this idiotic place and I was grabbed and verbally assaulted by the bouncer who accused me of not paying. I paid $45 two weeks in advance and when I showed him the ticket he accused it of being a fraud. I also so at least a dozen girls running around because their phones and wallets were stolen. If you want to be verbally and physically assaulted this is your place, if not go to literally any other club/ bar in Barcelona. This place should be investigated. read more

Too expensive ($40 just to get in?) , bartenders looked and acted miserable (in addition to being super rude), the venue is miserably hot, and they SHOULD NOT BE SERVING DRINKS IN GLASS WHEN THERE IS HARDLY ROOM TO BREATHE IN THERE. There was shattered glass ALL over the floor, I found shards of it in my shoes and foot later that night, and 2.5 weeks later my friend just discovered a large chunk of glass in her thigh from the night we came here. A good club in Barcelona to get out to if you're in town. Visited for a second time; first was back in 2011. Very big. Has a Vegas like atmosphere. People are cool from the bouncers to the bartenders. DJ's are legit and spin good beats. So we went here for dancing. The ladies got in for free and the men had to pay a cover. You cannot get in if you have soft sole shoes like flip flops. You can wear open toed sandals with a tougher sole. The drinks are expensive but good. About €15 for a vodka soda. The music they played was great for us late twenty year old Americans. We had a terrific time dancing. There was no chaos or fighting happening and the place was well managed. I gave it 5 stars because it was a seamless process and we really had a great time there.
